Chapter 37 Looking for Fun
It was almost evening. Since the owner of Harvest Hotel wanted to save some money, he did not open the light. This made the hotel a little dim.
As soon as Leo and Bucky entered, the owner greeted them warmly from behind the counter.
The owner was a slim tall Chinese man who looked around forty to fifty years old. When he saw Leo had an Asian face, he spoke Mandarin with a southern accent.
“You two are here to stay? A single room is twenty dollars a night, thirty for a double room. No tips, no tax, everything is included.”
Leo listened to the familiar Mandarin but did not reply back in Mandarin. Instead, he used fluent English to ask, “Hi, we want to stay here. I don’t understand what you said just now. Can you speak English?”
The owner noticed both of them don’t understand Chinese and translated what he said just now into English.
“We have no problem with the price. But, boss, we forgot to bring our identification, can you let us stay for the night?”
One of the reasons Leo chose to stay at Hell’s Kitchen was both of them did not have a legal identity. Since Hell’s Kitchen was a mess, the hotel owner would not bother who was staying.
As expected, the owner did not reveal any surprise or awkward expression when he heard the two of them have no identification. Instead, he skillfully replied, “The price is double if you have no identification.”
Since Leo was not short of money, he did not haggle over the price. He took out three pieces of twenty dollars notes and exchanged a double room key from the owner.
“The room is 203.” The owner simply pointed in the direction of the stairs then sat back behind the counter and began smoking a cigarette.
Leo brought Bucky to room 203 and used the key to open the door. The room was quite spacious and there were two single beds inside.
Leo was more surprised at the fact that the room did not have any weird smells.
The window was opened for ventilation. Although the glass panel on the window had some cracks, they were carefully covered with tape. The furniture and bedding in the room were a little torn down but they were very clean even the quilts were folded neatly.
Leo could not help sighing as this hotel might be the best in the entire Hell’s Kitchen.
“Bucky, how is the environment? If there’s no problem, we will stay here.”
“This is better than sleeping in the car for the past two days. Even better than sleeping in my icy sleeping pod.”
Thus, the duo decided to stay here. Out of occupational habits, they checked the room for any hidden cameras or tapping devices even though they did not bring anything.
After making sure the room was clear, they locked the door and prepared to go out to eat.
Leo had a good impression of the hotel owner since the room was relatively clean. When he reached the counter, he asked the owner. “Boss, we’re going out to eat something. Are there any recommendations around here?”
The voice of the owner behind the counter along with the smoke reached Leo’s ear side. “Turn left and walk down along the road. There’s a Peace Diner and their steak tastes quite good. You can have a try.”
Leo and Bucky listened to the owner’s recommendation and went to the Peace Diner for some steaks.
Just as they reached the entrance, Leo keenly noticed the camera on top of the hotel signboard. However, Leo ignored it after finding out it was installed by the hotel owner himself to prevent robbery.
The two of them turned left and reached the entrance of Peace Diner after walking for a few minutes. The entrance even had two ferocious guard dogs watching it.
…
One hour later,

The two of them left the diner after eating their fill. The hotel owner did not lie about the steak. It was fresh, tender, and delicious.
However, the price was unusually expensive. A small piece of steak cost twenty dollars. Leo and Bucky, like a prodigal, spent a whopping amount of two hundred dollars.
But it was not hurtful for them to spend the money as it was not their hard-earned money. During their two days in Minnesota, the total amount of cash they stole was at least twenty thousand dollars.
Not to mention the amount of jewelry that was in the trunk.
“Leo, what should we do next?”
“It’s night now, the Hell’s Kitchen is going to be lively. Let’s join in and see if we can get any news.”
Bucky followed Leo with peace of mind to be a thug since he did not have any plans.
In this day and age, alcohol and women were the only choices if a grown man wanted to have fun at night. Especially for people who like to reap without sowing.
Leo had asked the diner owner about places in Hell’s Kitchen to have fun at night when paying the bill.
According to the diner owner’s direction, Leo brought Bucky to Hell’s Kitchen’s most “bustling” street, Mingde Street.
This street was definitely the most bustling. The two of them saw the whole street was brightly lit just as they arrived. Furthermore, every room had rhythmic music coming out from them.
Along with the rhythm of the music, there was faint gasping and moaning from the alley on the left side of Leo.
However, there was a woman’s scream that came out of the alley out of the blue after the gasping stopped. “Help! Help!” Soon, it was followed by a low-pitched threatening sound.
Leo and Bucky had stopped their footsteps when they heard the scream. Leo shrugged when Bucky gave him a look and innocently headed toward the alley.
The small alley was illuminated by the light from the street as it did not have any street lamps. It made the alley extremely dim. Leo took out a bright flashlight from his pocket and shone it in front of them.
A man and a woman with exposed lower parts subconsciously covered their eyes under the dazzling light. The cries of help and threatening voices abruptly stopped at the same time.
Leo could finally see it clearly. In the alley, a woman was laying on a goose-down blanket while a man was on top of her. From the looks of it, it was a mutual consent thing.
However, after the… No, during the process, the man wanted to break the verbal agreement to not pay the money. He was even holding a fruit knife trying to make some money from the woman under him.
The dazzling flashlight was still aiming at two of them, making them unable to open their eyes.
The man seemed to feel too shameful being stared at like this. So, he crawled up to put on his pants and immediately left for the other end of the alley without saying anything.
Just as Bucky wanted to chase after the man, Leo stopped him.
Leo switched off the flashlight as the woman laying on the blanket got up and slowly lowered her skirt.
“Are you not cold?” Leo indifferently asked as he walked to the woman’s front.
The woman clearly saw an Asian man standing in front of her who was taller than her. Moreover, he looked rich judging from his appearance.
The next moment, the expression on the woman instantly changed into a smiley face as if magic. She let out a flirtatious smile and gently said to Leo. “Good-looking, do you want to have some fun? Just look for me, I’m the flower in this street. I guarantee to let you have a good night with just fifty dollars!”
