Chapter 12: 08

Cedric went back to his room after his training.

His room had already been tidied up by the maids and they stood in his room silently. They were waiting for Cedric to come back from his training.

“Welcome back from training, Young Lord.” One of the maids stepped forward from the corner of the room and greeted Cedric.

“Yeah. I am going to take a bath.” Cedric said. 

Cedric walked towards the washroom. The maids behind him followed him.

“No, stay back. I’ll do it on my own.” Cedric said. While all the nobles are bathed by servants, Cedric has always felt weird to let anyone else touch his naked body.

“But Young Lord-”

“Stay here,” Cedric said with a little more coldness in his voice and then went into the bathroom.

Cedric came back from the washroom after his bath and started getting ready. He came out already wearing undergarments so he had no problem with maids getting him ready.

Cedric wore a formal blue coat with a badge which had the crest of the Ashlet Duchy on it. Since he had to leave right after breakfast, he decided to go to eat breakfast after getting ready.

Soon, Cedric entered the dining room but all he could see was his father, his mother and only three of his siblings.

‘I am sure that only the eldest is out, the rest should attend the breakfast since father is here too.’ Cedric thought in his mind.

He did not dwell on it and greeted his parents good morning and took a seat.

“Now, we should start eating. But, before that, I have three pieces of news to share with you all.” Blake said. 

Cedric observed a little smile appearing on Blake’s face, something which was never seen in the family’s history before. Cedric had not seen it even when he was a small, cute child.

Everyone felt weird from the smile on Blake’s face.

“So, your eldest brother, Leonard has been promoted to a Monarch-Rank Mage. Second, your second eldest brother has become a Royal Mage and the last news, your four elder siblings have gone to the field to fight in monster repulsion on different parts of the border.” Blake said. After finishing, he picked up his fork and started cutting the omelette in front of him.

“Leonard became a Monarch-Rank mage? That is so good.” Cedric’s mother said with a happy face. For her, only her first son, Leonard is good and the rest, who awakened A-Rank talents are just inferiors.

“That is such good news.”

“Congratulations to my older brothers.” 

The siblings sitting there said.

“Yes,” Cedric said with a smile on his face. Cedric had a smile on his face but, under the table, he clenched his fists very hard but stopped before his nails penetrated his palms.

Cedric then proceeded to eat food. He barely finished the eggs on his plate and then left the room before he had any indigestion due to the stressful talks of his family.

Instead of going to the carriage and leaving for the Senna mansion, Cedric rushed back to his room.

He quickly took out his notebook and turned through some pages. After a lot of turning around, Cedric finally stopped at one page and started reading it fastly.

‘I expected Leonard to become a Monarch. I did not think he would become one so soon. Currently, even my S+ Rank talents are also not useful to fight him. If he wants to, he will easily kill me, the second eldest would too… What should I do?’

Cedric picked up a pen and started cutting things he had written. Cedric cut all the points he had written but he left the last one.

Cedric tapped his finger on the table and continuously stared into the option and in the end, he ticked it away.

The option read,” Act blind till stronger.”

This was what Cedric had ticked on. 

‘Everyone in the Ashlet family values their honour the most. Let's suppose, I got injured due to some reason and ended up getting blind, the siblings of mine won’t come after me aggressively as they do now to protect their honour.’ Cedric thought in his mind and then started making plans about how he would ‘get blind’.

As he was sitting on his seat and making further plans, someone knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Cedric said. He hurriedly closed his diary in order to hide the contents.

“Young Lord Seventh, the carriage has been waiting for a long time. If we are late, we may end up disrespecting Lady Senna.” A maid who entered the room after Cedric’s permission said. She did not wear the standard maid uniform but a normal brown dress and the same colour upper coat.

“Who are you?” Cedric asked, he had never seen the maid before in the mansion.

“I’m sorry I forgot to introduce myself, Young Lord. My name is Fiona Nash and I am your new personal maid, I’ll be taking your nanny’s place.”

Cedric nodded and gestured to the maid to leave the room. The maid hurriedly bowed and then left.

“Alright, I’ll see this after I come back,” Cedric said. He picked up his notebook and put it in a drawer on his table and then locked the drawer. Cedric kept the key in his pocket and then walked out of the room.

While walking, Cedric ran his hand through his hair once and then put on his badge again. By the time Cedric stood in front of the carriage, he was once again completely ready.

Cedric opened the door and saw Fiona sitting inside. 

“You’ll go with me?” Cedric asked when he saw Fiona.

“Yes. I have to go everywhere with the Young Lord.” Fiona said.

Cedric sighed and then got inside the carriage. He sat opposite Fiona with one leg over the other and looked outside the small window while he took a few glances at Fiona from time to time.

'Who knows which brother has sent her.' Cedric thought in his mind.
