“... After that, we come to the year 4056, today. Now, the human population far exceeds what it was on the earth and we have also developed more. The humans later adopted the system of the aristocracy to separate the elites from the normal people.
You all here are part of the elites.
I hope you all will awaken good talents in the awakening tomorrow.” A woman who stood behind a podium spoke as a lot of kids sitting in front of her heard her.
“Teacher, you said something wrong. Not everyone is an elite ‘noble’. We have Oscar right here.” A boy with dark red hair said mockingly while he pointed towards another boy with light pink hair.
The boy with pink hair, Oscar, heard this and wanted to speak something but, in the end, he closed his mouth and looked down.
Oscar was a commoner who got admission to this school all because of his talent but, ever since he got into the school, he has been suppressed and not been able to train properly. He was also suppressed by the other incompetent nobles.
As this happened, the boy with blonde hair who sat right beside Oscar saw all this and lifted his legs from the table they were on.
“Ha, Sir Warren, I would say, you please care about your own ‘blood’.” The boy with blonde hair said.
The boy with blonde hair was Cedric Ashlet, the youngest member of the Ashlet Duchy.
Ashley Duchy was the strongest family in the Braxia kingdom after the Royals. Meanwhile, the boy with red hair was Derrick Warren, the son of a count.
The ‘son’ won’t be the correct word since there were rumours that when Count Warren had a second marriage and married Derrick’s mother, she was already pregnant with Derrick and it was with another man.
“Alright, everyone. The class is over now. Leave now.” The teacher said and then told everyone to leave.
Slowly, the children started to leave. Since they were all nobles except Oscar, they left while maintaining decorum.
When Cedric was leaving with Oscar right behind him, Derrick stood up and said,” Let’s see what will happen in the awakening tomorrow, Sir Ashlet.”
“Haha, no problem,” Cedric said, patted Derrick’s shoulder, mocked him and then walked forward with Oscar.
As Oscar and Cedric walked outside, Oscar looked at Cedric and said,” Thank you.”
“Ah, it's alright. You are my only friend in the whole school after all… By the way, what do you think will happen in the awakening ceremony tomorrow?” Cedric asked.
The awakening ceremony was something that every school conducted, regardless of being a noble school or a commoner one.
All humans awakened a talent for magic when they turned 16 years old. The talent may be for any element. It may be one of the primary four elements, Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind but, these were not the only elements that awoke. Evolved elements like Ice, Sound, and Gravity were also seen from time to time but were rare.
Meanwhile, elements like Space was seen only once in human history and Time Magic was never seen.
“I think I should be able to obtain at least a C-Rank talent. What about you?” Oscar asked.
“I am not sure, so I have been training in weapons. I don’t know what kind of talent I would awaken.” Cedric said.
“Haven’t you already had some mana?” Oscar asked.
It was true. Cedric did have mana before he even awakened. This was a speciality of a strong family like the Ashlet.
The magic that could be used with this mana was only magic that had no element like Haste or Magic Missile.
“I do have it but it is a lot less than what my elder siblings had when they were in the academy so, I am training with the sword,” Cedric said as they exited the building.
Oscar listened to what Cedric said and felt bad for him. The siblings in the Ashlet Duchy would try and kill each other to get the position of the next head.
As they both walked further, they finally reached a black carriage with the crest of the Ashlet family on it.
The crest had a sword in between it and a flame surrounding it.

“I’ll go now. See you tomorrow.” Cedric said as he shook hands with Oscar.
“Yeah, bye,” Oscar said and saw Cedric get in the carriage.
After the carriage left, Oscar left the area peacefully.
In the carriage, Cedric sat as he sleeper choked a man in black clothes from head to toe.
{A/N: Sleeper choke is when you curl your arm around the opponent’s throat and tighten it with the help of the other arm, choking him fatally and not letting him breathe.}
“Now, tell me who sent you? You are just an ordinary human who came to kill me. I am sure that none of my siblings with a brain would send you. Speak.” Cedric said as he calmly choked the man.
It was clear from his calm and cold attitude that he had killed in the past. Having cruel siblings and a strong physique helped him experience all this. In case he had a weaker physique, he would have died already from the assassins sent previously.
The man Cedric was choking right now was a normal person who became an assassin after some training. He did not have any power at all.
“Alright, it was you who did not speak anything,” Cedric said as he tightened his arm.
At the start, the man struggled, wanted to escape and continuously tapped on Cedric’s arm but, after some time, his arms stopped and fell.
He died. Cedric checked the man’s pulse and confirmed that he was dead.
Cedric then sighed. He did not have any lack of enemies in this world.
His biggest enemies, his siblings, were not able to directly kill him as there was a rule in the Ashlet family that anyone below the age of 21 could not be targeted by the adults directly.
With time, a loophole was found in this rule and instead of going after the kids themselves, assassins were sent.
The criterion of the assassins that could be sent was also very long, one of them was that it could not be a trained knight, this gave Cedric the advantage on which he survived until now. He was only 16 years old right now which meant that he had a kind of protected time for 5 more years.
The body of the dead man lay in the carriage as Cedric used it as a place to keep his feet.
Soon, the carriage reached a massive mansion.
It was where the Ashlet family lived.
The carriage stopped right in front of the entrance of the mansion. The door of the carriage was opened by the driver as Cedric got down.
When he got down, a man around 40 years old bowed to him and greeted him.
“Welcome back, Young lord Seventh.” The man in black suit said.
“Heh, butler, tell me one thing. Was the one inside sent by my siblings or someone else?” Cedric asked as he pointed toward the dead body.
The butler looked at it and said after pondering for a moment,” Young Lord Seventh, all the other Young Lords are busy with the Hunting Competition so, I think it should be someone else.”
“Oh. Got it. Now, I have to wonder, was it my so-called good friend or my relative who wanted to support someone else? Hah, the list is too long.” Cedric said as he pulled the school tie he was wearing and removed it.
