Leo was listless at breakfast the next day, obvious dark circles under his eyes. He avoided Han Yanyan, not daring to meet her gaze.

Full, Han Yanyan wiped her mouth, sat up straight, and said, "I'm ready."

"Huh?" Leo said, not fully reacting.

"I'm ready," she said calmly. "I can go back into the hibernation pod now."

It was as if a warm and hazy veil had been torn apart, and the true relationship between them exposed.

Leo clutched his spoon, stunned, speechless.

After a moment of silence, he asked, "Why do you want to go back on your own initiative?"

"It's only a matter of time." Han Yanyan picked up her black tea and blew away the steam rising from it. "The only difference is whether I go back now, or... whether I go back after you've slept with me."

Leo's face turned both pale and blue at the same time. He wanted to say something in his own defense, but couldn't. What had he won the opportunity to be alone with her from the aide for? Even if he didn't want to admit it, he was well aware of the answer in his heart.

"Except for the bridge and the armory, I've visited almost every spot on the ship. Do you know what conclusion I've come to?" Han Yanyan asked, still blowing her tea. "It's hopeless. I can't run away. Even if I seized your ship, I wouldn't be able to escape from the surrounding fleet. This is reality, and I'm well aware of it."

She lost herself in thought, holding the teacup. "Duke Kline is a tough one to deal with, but the effect wasn't bad with Yao Chen, right? Why don't we save ourselves some energy and just repeat that world? I'll just go in and do it again."

Do it again? Do her level best to seduce Yao Chen again?

Leo remembered the clips that he had secretly replayed in his bedroom. At the time, it had been erotic and exciting, endlessly memorable. But now... when he thought of Han Yanyan going back into the hibernation pod and entering the simulated 'world', being tender and romantic and perhaps even passionate with another man; although it was all fake, all just virtual, Leo still felt a rush of irritation.

He slammed his cutlery onto the table and mumbled, "Can't you use some other approach? Are you a whore? Must you act slutty and seduce men?!"

Han Yanyan scoffed. She rose, pushing back her chair, and turned to leave.

By the time she made it to the corridor, Leo caught up. He was in such a panic that despite being afraid of women, he actually grabbed her wrist.

"I--I didn't mean that," he explained, his face red.

"I used to be a person who earned my living by my labour. With my hands and my brain, I earned enough to buy a house and pay for it," Han Yanyan sneered. "If you think I'm a whore, maybe you should spare some thought about who forced me into this situation."

Leo's face turned ugly.

Breaking free, she turned to leave. Clenching his teeth, he grabbed her wrist again.

"I..." he said, "The matter of Duke Kline must be solved. I can't do anything about that. But when he's settled... I--I..."

To overcome his nervousness, he lifted his chin and said condescendingly, "I shall permit you to live together with me in the future."

Alas, Han Yanyan was neither pleasantly surprised nor grateful to the point of tears, as he had hoped.

"I don't care if you're proposing marriage or if you just want sex," she sneered, "but at the very least learn to talk like a human first. If you don't know how, I suggest you try watching 'Ten Thousand and One Proposals.'"

"But if it's sex you're looking for..." she pulled back her hand, "I'm really not interested in crossdressers. You should just go play with your dolls."

She turned and left, leaving Leo blushing. "I, I'm not..."

Han Yanyan didn't show up to lunch, nor to dinner. She ate in her room and while waiting for the robot to clean up her dishes and leave, asked the system, "What's he currently doing?"

"He has finished watching 'Ten Thousand and One Proposals' and is currently not doing anything," it replied.

In other words, he was sitting there in a daze.

Han Yanyan curled her lips. "If he comes to see me, please let me know in advance."

The system did not respond.

"Why doesn't he forbid you to tell me his whereabouts?" she inquired. "Doesn't this put him at a great disadvantage?"

The AI was silent for a long time. "It is more likely that he does not think anyone would care about where he is and what he is doing. He is like air to anyone else."

Leo finally made up his mind around midnight and made his way to Han Yanyan's door.

"What is she doing?" he asked.

"She is lying in bed," the system replied.

"Is she armed?" he asked, exercising one last act of caution.

The system scanned. "She is holding no weapon."

Relieved, Leo took a deep breath, and prepared to have the AI open the door. But then he suddenly remembered something, hesitated for a moment, and instead of trespassing, knocked on the door like a normal person.

On his second knock, Han Yanyan opened the door.

There was no light in the room, and it was a little dark. Clad in a thin silk nightgown, Han Yanyan leaned against the doorframe.

"What are you doing? It's bedtime," she asked lazily, "You're not sending me back now, are you?"

Leo covered his nose and did his best to stop himself from having a nosebleed. It looked so stupid that Han Yanyan couldn't help but roll her eyes.

She shaded her eyes with one hand to block the light coming in from the corridor. "Come in and talk. It's too bright out here."

With the cabin door closed, the room was dim and hazy. The light of a distant star slanted through the porthole and dusted the end of the bed, the only source of light.

"Speak, what's up?" Han Yanyan asked, folding her arms and in doing so plumping up her breasts.

Afraid of making a fool of himself again, Leo only dared to look at the floor. After a long time, he finally spoke.

"When I--I was a child, the woman who gave birth to me often beat me with her hands, her shoes, a stick, a belt. Once, when she was drunk, she almost strangled me to death. I... I've been afraid of women ever since I was young. I've always thought that th-they're scary, terrifying creatures."

"Later, there was one girl that I liked. But I didn't dare to talk to her. I just secretly placed the best supplements in her cabinet for her. But when she saw my roommate drinking the same brand, she thought that he had given them to her, and they got together."

"I thought in my head that I liked her, but I didn't dare talk to her, let alone touch her."

"You... you're the only one who's different."

He looked up and into her eyes.

"I-I often dream of making love to you."

"I dare to touch you. I want to touch you."

"You're... different to me. I-I'm 92 years old this year, and I'll probably live another 300 years."

"I... Han Yanyan!" Leo Parker declared, mustering up his courage, "Will you... will you spend every day of the next 300 years with me?"

Han Yanyan laughed. This was the line the the hero had used for his first proposal in 'Ten Thousand and One Proposals'. Although Leo had plagiarized it, it was at least human language.

"Then... are you proposing to me, or do you want sex?" she laughed.

Leo blushed, lowered his head, and whispered, "Both..."

Pursing her lips, Han Yanyan sized him up. Frowning, she asked, "You're not currently wearing women's underwear, are you?"

Suddenly raising his head, Leo said, blushing, "No! Th--that isn't..."

Before he could finish, her soft, fragrant lips brushed against his like petals. His words halted abruptly, and he froze.

Han Yanyan smiled, moving closer to him. Just as she was about to kiss him again, she suddenly stopped. "Is the system still monitoring us?"

"It--it's just a program."

She took a step back. "It can talk, it can watch, it can record."

Leo shouted anxiously, "System! Turn off monitoring!"

"Yes, master," the system replied. Then silence fell.

Han Yanyan smiled, kissed him gently once more, and then regarded him for a while. Tense all over, Leo had no intention of taking the initiative. Just being touched was already enough of a challenge for this gynophobic patient.

Sighing, she took his hand and pulled him to the end of the bed before gently pushing him onto it. He was already completely powerless and put up no resistance.

Trembling with nervousness, Leo looked up to see her standing in the beam of light at the foot of the bed. With a gentle flick of the thin straps on her shoulders, the silk nightgown slid to the floor. Her body seemed to glow in the light of the stars. She smiled at him and leaned over to shed her last piece of clothing.

Made dizzy by her glowing light, Leo lay down, his head tilted back, panting, nervously waiting for happiness to arrive.

What he didn't know was that when Han Yanyan leaned over to take off that last piece of clothing, she had reached two fingers into her body, clamped a thin but sharp sliver of glass, and slowly pulled it out.

When she had first woken up in this room, she had smashed a mirror. After Leo left, she had crawled over and hidden a narrow, sharp piece of glass before the robot could clean up the shards.

Before being 100% sure, she had never dared to touch this shard of glass. This was her last weapon.

Han Yanyan rose. There was blood staining the glass she held in her hand.

I've studied you for decades... your sufferings and your sorrows. I know all the pain that you suffered in your childhood.

But these can't be the grounds for you to imprison me, enslave me, and torture me.

How many before me died? How many went crazy? Do you even know?

You've let me go not because I'm a person, but because I'm a woman. Because I just happen to satisfy your sexuality and your emotions. But after I'm gone there'll still be people just like me, lying cold and helpless in that glass coffin until one day they go insane, won't there?

She climbed onto the bed.

Leo opened his eyes in excitement.

Showing him a charming smile, Han Yanyan leaned over and kissed him on the lips.

You shouldn't have gone to sleep back then. You thought I was still the same as when I was up against Ding Yao and Yao Chen. You thought I would be willing to fawn over you, bartering myself for freedom and better treatment.

You really shouldn't have missed my last world. You don't know what sort of person Tang Kè Bernat has made me into.

As her lips touched his, the sharp glass in her hand plunged into Leo's carotid artery.

Blood sprayed onto the wall like from a high-pressure gun.

Leo's eyes bulged out in disbelief.

Leo, what happens if I die inside of a world?

You stay in there properly! If you dare die and get kicked out, I'll kill you for real!

His body vanished into a flash of white light, dying and exiting. Han Yanyan's eyes widened and her pupils shrank!

In the end it was he who had deceived her!

She was still inside the simulation!!!
