Yao Chen kicked the table over.
"You goddamn motherfucker! Whose money are you taking?! How dare you talk such nonsense!" He grabbed Old Wu by the collar, and Old Wu struggled to breathe.
The policemen in the room responded, separating them with electric batons.
Old Wu was rescued. He braced himself on his knees, panting, and hurriedly stopped the policemen from using further force against Yao Chen.
He dragged at his tie, loosened his collar, and sat down beside Yao Chen. "I've been with you over ten years. When have I ever lied to you?"
Yao Chen had just been electrocuted and couldn't get up. He lay on the ground and snarled through gritted teeth, "I! Won't! Believe it!"
Sorrowfully, Old Wu shook his head and lamented, "A woman's charms are a hero's tomb."
"You, old friend, have been brought low by the hands of this woman..."
Yao Chen wanted to see Han Yanyan.
No matter what Old Wu said, so long as Han Yanyan didn't admit to it herself, he refused to believe it. But she wouldn't meet him.
It was two months before Yao Chen finally saw his wife in court. It was also that moment when he truly believed that it had been her who had deliberately collected evidence, tipped off his enemies, and finally dealt the fatal blow.
He stared at this woman.
She was wearing loose clothing. He hadn't seen her for two months, and her belly was now very big. It made her already charming face even gentler. She put her hand on the constitution and swore that what she said was true.
She was Yao Chen's wife and trusted confidante, the person next to his pillow. She knew too much and the things she knew were too important. The evidence she had obtained thanks to her position was deadly. Yao Chen was unable to deny any of it.
He watched her all through her testimony at court.
Her mood was stable and her tone gentle.
How could a woman remain so calm as she sent her husband and the father of her child to his death?
How did her heart keep beating?
Did she even have a heart?
Yao Chen clenched his fists until the knuckles turned white.
Han Yanyan had been avoiding eye contact with Yao Chen. According to her experience with Qiao Wenxing in the last world, she felt like the world might end around this court date. In that case, there was no need for her to contact him again.
It was also because of this that she had allowed the child in her belly to continue developing instead of having an abortion.
It would all disappear with the world anyway.
But when the judge made the announcement granting Yao Chen and his companions the death sentence, the world did not change. There was no earthquake, no devouring white light.
Han Yanyan frowned slightly, lifted her head a little, and looked around. Surely she wouldn't have to wait until Yao Chen was executed?
Or had she... used the wrong method this time?
She finally turned her attention to Yao Chen, only to find that Yao Chen had been staring at her.
His eyes were bloodshot and brimmed with rage. If he hadn't been handcuffed and behind bars, he would probably have come up to peel the flesh from her bones and chop her into pieces.
Han Yanyan found it difficult to breathe.

She regarded him for a moment, then looked away.
Yao Chen was here today because he had broken the law and committed many sins.

Yao Chen was here today because he had broken the law and committed many sins.
Han Yanyan chanted this over and over in her mind.
Once again, she gave thanks to the character setting of this world and mission. Because Yao Chen was such a villain, she had been able to send him to court and prison without too much emotional distress.
He was just paying for his own sins.
It wasn't because of her.
Outside the court, the blue sky was clear and boundless. Jiang Ye took a deep breath, feeling the many weights that had been pressing on his mind over the years finally evaporate. Looking up at the vast sky, he felt at peace.
But when she looked up at the same sky, Han Yanyan wasn't feeling this way at all. Her forehead creased with a deep frown. What was going on? Why wasn't the world over yet? Why wasn't there even the slightest sign of it happening?
Even a tiny earthquake would have made her feel at ease.
"So... what are your plans for the future?" Jiang Ye asked her.
"When will the house be sealed up?" she inquired.
"I can make it so that they're two days late..." Jiang Ye hinted. "If you need anything from there, hurry up and go pack it."
Because Yao Chen's assets had been frozen, they had also looked into Han Yanyan's assets. Jiang Ye had found that there was nothing in her name. All her assets were under Yao Chen's name. Her bank account only held a little over 100,000 yuan, which was an acceptable amount for an ordinary worker, but when compared to her previous standard of living meant just a bag and a bracelet.
There should still be a few valuables or cash in the mansion. Jiang Ye could use his authority to give her some leeway if she "cleaned up".
But even if she sold it all for money, it would never bring back her old life.
Jiang Ye had mixed feelings. She had brought down Yao Chen with her own hands. What was the full picture in the end?
Han Yanyan returned to her and Yao Chen's home. Everything was exactly the same. The only thing missing was one man.
The man who had made love to her fiercely in every corner of the house, but who would help clumsily when she cooked, making a mess of the kitchen. The man who had seized her by force, then treated her gently. What was between them could have been written as a romance novel; it was missing only the pen.
Han Yanyan returned to this home, looked around, and felt the rooms deserted and strange.
She didn't rush to "clean up". Neither clothes nor money nor jewelry were important to her. It was how to end this world that was important.
In contrast, the previous world, Qiao Wenxing's, had been so easy. She hadn't even needed to take him head-on, she had almost completed the mission in her sleep. She had nearly torn her heart out for this world, grappling with Yao Chen day and night, yet until today there was no sign of the end.
Han Yanyan pondered on it for a long time, but couldn't come up with anything.
She tried to call on Leo, but there was still no response.
Due to being pregnant, Han Yanyan tired easily nowadays. She finally gave up. Maybe it would come to her when she was asleep. She washed up and went to bed early.
