It turned out to be her! It had been her all along! Why her?! Who the hell was she?
Below that sentence was a string of numbers, a comm number. Tang Ke immediately input it into his smartwatch and dialed.
The other side refused to pick up, but quickly sent a text.
"You know everything you need to know," she said.
"Who are you?" Tang Ke asked. "How do you know those things?"
"I found out by accident," replied the little fairy.
"Why did you want me to know?" he asked.
The little fairy was silent for a while before replying, "I didn't want to see you become her dog."
Tang Ke gritted his teeth, knowing that she was right. He would have become Han Yanyan's most loyal dog.
"You-- who are you?" he asked.
"I'll never tell you until the day I die."
She had refused to reveal her identity, and Tang Ke stopped asking. Staring at the screen, he read the next sentence she had sent.
"What are you going to do now that you know the truth?"
"I'll kill them both," Tang Ke replied.
The little fairy replied almost without thinking, "You're not capable of it."
Tang Ke ground his teeth, biting until he bled. He couldn't help but ask, "What should I do?"
"Training in school and at the clan will only make you into a better dog. The truly strong are tempered on the battlefield," she said. "If you're determined to do so, I'll give you a hand. Little star, I'm on your side forever."
What sort of girl was she?
Once, she had brought him warmth. Later, once he had grown up, when compared to noble, coldly elegant Han Yanyan, her girlish countryside love was so embarrassing that he hadn't even wanted to see her.
'Little fairy', 'little star', ugh, what an embarrassing past. He had deliberately given her the cold shoulder.
But now he knew... that in this world, the only one who treated him sincerely, aside from his mother, was probably this mysterious girl?
Taking a deep breath, Tang Ke replied, "Please help me."
……
The first war between the Han and the Yin clans resulted in a landslide victory.
Yin Wei died in the hands of her own daughter, and all the shipping routes and mining planets the Yin family owned fell into the Han family's hands. Henceforth, their surnames would all be changed to Han. The current Patriarch was in his prime, and the next Matriarch was already outstanding. When father and daughter joined hands, it made men shiver in terror.
Of course, this was how an outsider felt looking in. Inside the clan, there was naturally a feeling of prosperity and great unity.
But within this atmosphere were discordant notes. While the Patriarch and his heir were away, Tang Ke, a distant relative the Han family had sponsored, had sneaked into the study, hacked into the system, stolen the latest Han-developed mecha and weapons, and then disappeared.
It was unbelievable.
This young man had been subsidized by the Han family ever since childhood. Thanks to his talent, he had been given excellent treatment the whole time and never mistreated. What was more, he was close to the Young Miss and there was a good chance he would be selected as her husband. Such behavior was truly inexplicable.
Consequently, the scarlet secret about Xinya and the Patriarch, the young man and the Young Miss covered the skies.
Han Jin and his ilk were especially keen on spreading rumors.
Patriarch Han beat him up personally and forbid him from using the treatment cabin, only topical medicine. Once he quieted down, the rumors and scandals began to fade away.
Patriarch Han did some investigation, but Han Yanyan had covered her tracks. In the end, no conclusion was drawn.
Two years later, the Han family fought a mercenary group in the R457Z5 star system. The family technicians appraised the records of the situation and concluded that the characteristics and performance of the mechas they used were in line with those in the data Tang Ke had stolen. The question of his whereabouts was roughly answered.

No matter what had taken place along the way to cause Tang Ke to make such a life choice, he had chosen his own path. Patriarch Han was even rather appreciative of it.
"It's not quite what you hoped for, but he's starting to resemble a man," he murmured.
Meanwhile, over the years "little fairy" Han Yanyan had kept in touch with Tang Ke about two or three times a year.
These so-called "mercenaries" were called mercenaries when they had a business contract, and bandits when they didn't. Most of them gathered in the lawless zone and lived a life of licking blood from a knife.
On board a deck, a humanoid mecha landed. Its abdominal hatch opened, and from within Tang Ke jumped out, landing firmly. Had Han Yanyan been here, she would have found that he was now much taller than her.
The fierce battle had made him sweat through his mecha suit. He pulled it off and tossed it to one of his subordinates. "Wash it for me."
"Yes, boss." The man caught it.
Tang Ke casually threw on a jacket and left the deck with it hanging open to show his chest.
It was dark on the spaceship, and everyone in sight was decked out in a strange and grotesque manner. Here there was no elegant etiquette and fine life, only iron, blood, gunpowder, and drunken dreams. He led a life that was the complete opposite of his boyhood.
But everyone who saw him made way and bowed.
"Boss."
"Boss, you're back."
"Chief, you're awesome! It was a total wipe!"
It had taken Tang Ke eleven years to climb up step by step from a mere grunt to the captain of this mercenary group. He had seized it and expanded it single-handedly. It was now a force that could confront many large clans head-on.
The battlefield had tempered an S+ class warrior, making the name Tang Ke now known to everyone. The stories of his cruelty and mercilessness made those who heard it quake in their boots.
Tang Ke returned to his room, stripped, and entered the bathroom. Hot water scoured his lean body. He had wide shoulders and a narrow waist, and was packed with muscle. The days in which he had been a slim young man were long gone.
After washing, he went back to his bedroom and and found an unread message on his smartwatch. He opened it to find a text from the little fairy. "Happy birthday."
Today was not actually his birthday, but the day on which he left the Han family's manor. It was on this day that Tang Ke had been reborn.
Pulling on pants, Tang Ke replied to her, "Twenty-five now."
When he had entered the Han family, there had been no girl living in the manor younger than he was. "You should be at least twenty-five," he messaged. "Are you married?"
The little fairy replied, "If I wasn't, what, should I be waiting for you to come back and marry me or something?"
Tang Ke smiled. "On the day I return to the Han family, if you're not already married, I will marry you."
"At that time, you may discover that I might have perished at your own hand."
He was silent for a moment before asking, "Still won't tell me who you are?"
As always, she replied, "You won't know who I am until the day I die."
"All you talk about is death."
"You and I will die sooner or later," said the little fairy, "Are you not living a life in which you stare death in the face every day? Also, I'm not kidding. Some of my relatives have already died at your hands. Don't forget, my surname is Han."
Tang Ke was silent for a while, but there were quite a few people surnamed Han who had died at his hands, and he didn't know which one was her relative. Actually, strictly speaking, they all were.
"Do you hate me?" he asked.
"What's there to hate?" the little fairy sneered. "They died because they were weak."
"You have a strong heart," Tang Ke said, "But you won't die at my hands."
"For your sake, I won't kill any woman from the Han family."
"Except one."
