I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect the day to present me when I woke up.  Usually, on Saturday morning, my wife is already downstairs and making breakfast by the time I wake up.  She’s quite considerate to let me sleep in on the weekends, but when I woke up, she was still in the bed with me, her fingers playing with my hair.

I can only guess the reason for this is because of my reaction when I returned to the room last night after hearing what Chigusa wanted to say to me.  Rather than deal with the reality of it, I wanted to be drowned in her need for me.  I wanted her to say she needed me and to not look at my ex-girlfriend.  I wanted to be told I was doing the right thing.

But life wasn’t that simple.

“Mmh, Mayuri-san.”

“Good morning, Shota.”

I helped myself to many kisses from my gorgeous wife, and slowly woke up in a pleasant mood as I snacked on various parts of her soft and warm body.

“Are you hungry?” She asked me.

Usually I look forward to eating, but I just wanted to be spoiled by her today.

“Not really.  I just want to stay like this a bit longer with you.  Is that alright?”

“If that’s what you want, I certainly won’t complain~”

I climbed on top of her and stared at her beautiful naked body.  I imagined what it would look like if… she had the same scar as Chigusa.  I didn’t think it would turn me away, or cause me to want to ridicule her.  I have no idea if Chigusa had told her mother any of what she told me before our talk, so I decided to remain tight-lipped on the matter to keep her private business her own.  Instead, I just buried myself face first in her ample chest and enjoyed the intimate peace of skinship that only my wife was allowed to give me.

We then took a nice warm shower together after leaving our bedroom and eventually made our way downstairs.

“You two sure slept in.”

Chigusa greeted us when we stepped in to the kitchen, smiling sweetly and asking if we were hungry.  She must have gotten tired of waiting for her mother to come downstairs and didn’t want to intrude on us, so she went ahead and began to make breakfast.

I didn’t even know she knew how to cook!  With Chigusa before, it was always me paying for delivery or bringing home take-out.

But Chigusa was here in the kitchen making the basic of the basics… Rice.

Nothing else, just rice.  Warm crunchy rice, with a cold egg cracked on top to take away the little warmth the rice still had when mixed in, and some pickled vegetables piled sloppily on the side.  Mayuri-san hesitated for a moment in eating from her bowl, while I just went for it. I can’t say… that her cooking didn’t do the job.  At the very least, after two bites of it, I was full.

She… tried?

“Chigusa, dear…” Mayuri began to address the problem. “Could it be… you want to help out around here?”

She dodged telling her daughter it was inedible!!!  My wife is a sweetheart, but you have to tell her it’s shit!

Chigusa smiled at her mother’s estimation of the situation.

“Un.  I-I know I have been a bit… upsetting to Shota lately.  I want to show him I do appreciate that he’s letting me stay here by at least not being a complete freeloader.”

“That’s a nice sentiment.  I know it’s a bit late, but shall I start training you on how to capture a man’s heart?” Came my wife’s reply.

“Yes, please do.”

Mayuri-san… you can’t be unaware that she’s… aiming for me, right?

“Then starting tomorrow, prepare yourself.”

“Okay~”

Seeing a meek and cheerful Chigusa was stranger than fiction.  Up until now, Chigusa only showed that side of her when she…

…when did she ever show it, actually?

Mayuri looked pitifully at me and the bowl of food I had stopped eating at the second bite.  Instead she clapped her hands together and spouted out something that instantly changed the course of our day.

“Say, do the two of you want to go out on a date together?”

“EH!?” I reacted uncomfortably.  Was she trying to send her daughter and me out on a date… together!?

“Not that kind of a date.  I mean something like a family outing, just the three of us maybe visiting the mall, or going to see a movie.  Something to get us out of the house for a bit.  What do you say?”

My wife’s suggestion wasn’t half bad, since she was included in this date.  I wasn’t about to let myself get roped into one with only my ex-girlfriend and I.

“In that case, it could be fun…  I’m okay with it.  Chigusa?” I went along with it, “How about you?

“…are you sure you two want me to tag along?”

Mayuri-san stood up and cleared the table of all the food that was made by her daughter, the inexperienced house-gyaru.

“I have a special place that I’d like to take you to, dear.  I think… It could help matters around here as well.”

Chigusa was promised that during the trip out, a stop in the food court for some pizza would be a guarantee.  My ex-girlfriend was easily onboard with my wife’s plan after that, and while we were all currently lazily dressed, after declaring the outing, both Chigusa and Mayuri-san went upstairs to get better dressed for the occasion, spending what I thought was an inordinate amount of time doing their makeup together in the bathroom.

Well, I don’t mean to make them feel trapped at home.  That’s why I was quick to agree to it, after all.  I’m the kind of person who is fine just staying inside by myself and only going out when I feel tired of being cooped up.  I imagine these two are probably more normal and well-adjusted than I am.  That’s why I did my best to remain patient as they did themselves up.  I suppose to them, even though it was an outing as Mayuri-san said… it was also very much a date.

Very much a date with a lovely mother and daughter pair.

Thankfully as a guy, changing into something slightly better than casual never took longer than five minutes.  So I had plenty of time to check my Fanbox and reply to my followers messages.

The place Mayuri-san had in mind for shopping was a bit further than would be enjoyable walking to, so we caught the bus, and were there about twenty minutes later.  It was a popular mall known for fashion among women of all ages.

Clinging to one of my arms, was my beautiful older wife, looking her best and attracting stares from many passers-by.  And clinging to my other arm, was my ex-girlfriend, also done up completely and exuding the sexual charm that only a JK gyaru barely past the legal age possibly could.

Then there was me, caught in the middle and getting a number of looks from both men and women, perhaps both curious and jealous of the situation I was in.  I felt like any moment this could turn into another scene of carnage, but it wasn’t anything of the like, much to my relief.

We visited a number of stores, many of them which sold only clothes, and both of the mother and ex-girlfriend pair tried on quite a few outfits, showing them off to me who was left alone, browsing my phone to stay sane.  On occasion, each of them would pick out an outfit for the other, and I had a big problem when one of the shirts Mayuri-san stepped out of the changing room with over-emphasized her large bust, having four English letters on it from a word I was familiar with that stretched along with the shirt.

M I L K

While I had yet to taste the aforementioned product from them, the campaign she was promoting was doing a great job in making me thirsty.  Mayuri-san was a little shameless in her clothing picks, though I get the feeling she was just being playful and teasing as was in her nature.

Chigusa on the other hand was choosing outfits that looked amazing on her, but every choice she had settled on revealed little skin.  It hadn’t occurred to me at all until this point, how much of a body image trauma she had.  She was fine dressing up fashionably, indeed she had great taste as far as I was concerned, but I worried for her now.

I wasn’t forced to endure too much of it at first.  We broke off and had that pizza Mayuri-san promised earlier than I expected.  Well, two pizzas.  Those girls sure could put it away!  Outside of a certain area, Chigusa was certainly a copy of Mayuri-san in a lot of respects, even if she had next to no domestic skills.

In the food court, I caught the eye of a beautiful girl with fluffy pink hair.  She was holding the hand of a boy a little taller than her, looking elated, and Chigusa caught me staring in their direction.

“Oh my god!  Look!”

She pointed at the phone the pink-haired girl was carrying around.

“On her wrist, check it out!  It’s an Inki-chan charm bracelet!  I want one so bad!”

“Inki-chan?  What’s that?”

“It’s some kind of cute four-legged sort-of-octopus thing.  I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it is to get ahold of an accessory of one!  Like… only two or three people in our entire school have it, but it’s all the rage in Japan right now.  The company who makes them keeps promising more will be produced, but it’s like the second they hit the shelves, they’re already gone!”

“Huh.  So you want an Inki-chan charm bracelet?”

“I don’t care what kind of accessory it is.  Anything Inki-chan is fine, since it’s a status symbol right now!”

Inki-chan… Where have I heard that name before?  Try as I might, I simply couldn’t recall, but honestly, I would be happy to buy Chigusa any one of them she wanted… that is, if she knew where they were being sold.  I know she only wants to be popular, and this is something that could help seal that for her.  As a friend at least, I do care for her.

There was still a little bit more clothes shopping to be done, then a few items for around the house, and we browsed around for the thing Chigusa wanted, but every store we went to that claimed to have them said they were out of stock.  It seems that it really is a hard to acquire item.  Giving up for now, we stopped afterwards to see a movie.  It was a popular anime about a demon slayer who does his best to protect his mouse-like little demon sister.  It was hugely popular and somehow I hadn’t yet seen it, though it had been talked about in the anime section of the forums where I posted the free parts of my story.

As if the pizza had not made a single dent in their stomachs, a large tub of popcorn and three sodas later, we left the movie theatre and began to head to the place Mayuri-san had planned to take her daughter to.

When we arrived, I felt like I had been set up.  The store we were entering was one that was clearly for adults only.

“Uh, why are we here, Mayuri?” I asked.

“I told you I had an idea on how to help take care of our problem at home.  Ufufufu~”
