Chapter 6: Chapter 5- picking my future

100,000 books were strewn across the floor and table piling up with the thousands of notes I took. I didn't have a clock to check the time, but Chrona always came by at a random intervals to check up on me.The goddess only allowed access to common knowledge of the world, but common knowledge could mean different things to different people, so I had to check the books . I figured out the meaning of common knowledge, which in this case is basically what you can learn regularly in a school or university in eros.It was pretty easy I just had to [Search] for school books, and it brought me a variety from all levels including university level books. 

From this I learned this was a world that ran on magic from lights, to stoves, to even the toilet and sinks.unfortunatly there were no such thing as tv, but there were enchanted crystal balls to speak to people across the world. You had to pay an arm and a leg for it but it was still there. The architecture was also all medieval,so that meant no skyscrapers more big castles and Wooden and stone houses. There were also unsurprisingly no cars, because of magic beasts that were breed to take on the role. Most could go 60 miles per hour as a minimum so no shock that cars aren't invented. Also no planes. I thought there was a beast equivalent, but when I looked through the stacks there was nothing but a warning saying "THE SKY BELONGS TO DRAGONS."

Ominous was all I could call that message I found in one of the older books. I put it down and swore to myself to not get a flying power until I got to [A] rank just to be sure not to deal with dragons and end up dead. Continuing on I finished reading up on this worlds magic tech. I could assume from all that I read that this world was basically on the modern day level of technology using magic. No internet though so I can't be a neet. Sadness wells in my heart that I can't just stay at home and play games. Screwing Chrona everyday, having a few kids until I reaching rank [A]. I cleared my happy thoughts away and continued with my research on classes and skills.

I have talked to Chrona and he said that the earlier I choose my class the better my potential gains will be. Human children in this world choose this at 10 were they still have time to explore who they are, and changing to there final class at 18. The difference between the first class at 10 and 18 is that the 10 year olds choose a general class like {Child of Eros} or {Student} that can become anything. They have no bonuses to anything so no boost to skills or any ability mergers so general classes are really bad. Those who choose there class at 18 know what they want to become so they can specialize into what they want. Such as a {Blacksmith} or a {Courtesan}. These classes do give a bonuses to physical or mental abilities. The earlier I specialize the earlier I can amass power for the class path I want to take.

Classes just like skills also evolve as you increase in rank like an {Apprentice Magician} at {J} rank becomes {Lesser Magician} at rank {I}. taking a class path is basically saying which route you'll go down. There are from the books I've read thousands of classes so I need to filter out the selection. So time to make criteria on who I want to become in this new world. 

1) A class must have mental and physical applications/powers.

2)The class must have the option for combat.

3)The class has to be able to make an income on not fighting monsters.

To explain my first point you have to remember that the Soul has two parts Mind and body, Mana and ki, External and Internal energy, or whatever you like to call it. Classes such as {Mage} only focus on Mana while ignoring the physical aspect. The opposite is also true for the {Warrior} class and their focus on ki. Having a class that specializes in only one energy type makes that energy type way stronger. However if you have a class with Mana and Ki you would cultivate alot faster than only having one.The reason only having one energy type is so much harder to increase in rank is because the soul reflects both body and mind, so you need both to evolve, but only having one energy type means you'll have to do twice as much or more to rank up. This doesn't seem bad at first but as you get to the higher ranks it becomes harder and harder to rank up before you die.The imbalance you get from focusing on one energy slows you down more and more, but the power only gets greater.

My greatest strength is my Ex skill and maybe my blessing which I don't know what it does yet.I don't want to sacrifice my life for a chance at greater power even if I have an Ex skill. I also read a book about notable past human [A] and [B] rank classes, and it informed me that most high class individuals cultivate more than one energy type. This helped me cut down the list of available classes significantly.

Now to go over my 2nd and 3rd criteria. I choose them because I knew there were monsters here and there are people here that make monsters look like children in this world and I wanted to be able to protect myself by any means. I did want to fight to protect myself, but I didn't want to make fighting a career more like a hobby I could miss like being a hero for fun. So I would need a class related to a non combat job.

So with the 3 criteria I shortened the list from a few thousand to a few hundred. Progress was finally made and before knocking out 2/3 of the list off I found a Class path I recognize from one of my recent reads, and It had a list of skills to choose from to get it.

I go back to the book about past [A] and [B] rankers to double check and I finally see it. The last class, the one on top, {RUNIC HERALD} the path was there clearly laid out. This was a class of [Enchanter's] who strengthen and changed their body or other items with runes. I could basically become an enchanter, and sell gear or tools in a city or town.

I double checked to see if Enchanter's we're illegal or something in the law books, and nope they weren't but they were rare and it said in the description in the beginner class list book that one must have a master to learn enchanting arts. This was easy Chrona could teach me this. He would surely know the mind and body skills needed for this path. I was getting bored sitting and reading all these books. I already knew the tech, architecture, and magic system a bit. I'd have to study a bit more to comprehend it all, but that could wait till later. What else was I missing....

Oh the maps and geology. I didn't want to waste too much time so I screamed {Search} and a map of Eros came into my hand. Taking a quick peek I saw a Pangaea like super continent Surrounded by smaller islands. It was split between 13 nations; each at least the size of Russia if the map was correct. It was  also interesting that on this map it did have the age of each country. I took a glance over the names and ages of them and I was shocked when I realized the youngest country was 5000 years old. Truly only in a fantasy world could world peace last enough for these countries to live so long. That or everyone had the nuclear option or something equivalent and no one wanted to start a war. Either was a possibility, but she folded up the papers and left the library to find Chrona.

Running through the library up the stone steps and through the stone archway leading me into the garden behind the mansion. It was bathed in clear blue moonlight it was as if I was in a dream.... Oh wait I am, and there were even fire flies shining all over almost like they were lighting the way in this mystical garden. I just stood there taking in the sight. This place wasn't so bad maybe I'll recreate it when I get my wish from the goddess. It was the middle of the night so Chrona was probably resting. We were in a dream so we didn't have to sleep but Chrona said it'd help pass the time.

Walking slowly to the front of the house taking in the night view and fresh air. I walked into the quite house and up the stairs back to our room. The room Chrona took my first time as a woman.I opened the door and inside it was faintly bathed in moonlight. Hearing Chrona's soft breathing I didn't want to wake him up. "Ok, but you need to choose skills that will help your {Guide} blessed skill. Because if you want to go down this path you need and require access to the akashik records."

I nodded along waiting for him to continue not really thinking about what his expressions meant. I had a bad feeling about it, but hey what can you do. He then talked about the skills needed.

"You'll need to be able to fully control your body and it's energy's by [D] rank. So you'll have to use 6/10 of your body skill slots to get the necessary skills for it. You can use your last 4 slots for these skills

 [Ki-sense][Ki-infusion],[Ki-absorb],[Ki-control]

These skills will evolve into the more powerful skill that can do the job of the four previous skills and then some.         

[Ki-manipulation]

 at rank [D]. We'll have to focus on physical skills first then go on to mental skills. You'll get a better sense of energy which will help you a bit in understanding Mana."

I nodded and remembered that I already got one skill already done .   [hormone control]  was finished and I knew I'd probably have to do similar things to get the last 5 skills. My legs were getting very wet just thinking about it. Chrona knowing my thoughts nodded and skipped the process on how to get the skill [Body manipulation] and went onto state the process of the last four.
