-Alan POV-

After much struggle, I managed to complete all the objectives I had for my basic survival.

"But this is just the beginning!"

Now is where the real game starts!

Of course, I could just package some of the strange apples and water, and take the option of searching in a random direction for a human settlement.

But I am still unsure of where I am. The bioluminescent water and the uneven terrain only made my doubts grow. And how do I know I will find more food and water sources along the way?

I don't have a backpack, so I still can't carry much weight. And even if I created a provisional bag, it would be far from what I actually would need to transport provisions for at least more than one day.

So instead I will go for a 'waiting' game!

I will try to advance technologically as much as possible, to make my life easier, until I meet someone. I am pretty famous, even as a student, so I am sure back at home, someone must have started looking for my whereabouts.

Until then, I need to think of a new list of objectives to take care of...

  • Wood, both logs and branches.
  • Stone, finding steel would also be great.
  • And leather, or any kind of fiber.

With these three points completed, more complex things will be easier to craft later on.

I will take off with the first objective, collecting wood, this implies picking and cutting branches (which can be done by hand), but also cutting down trees (which can only be done with a proper axe).

This will mean that to complete the first point I will also need to make progress of the second point, gathering stones for the axe.

Well, both branches and stones can be mostly found on the ground so I guess I will just go around here doing laps while collecting anything I can deem useful...

...

Or that was the original idea...

*Mreow!*

"But I didn't expect to find a CAT in the middle of this annoying forest!"

My head hurts. Really.

Each time I thought of some kind of theory explaining where on the face of Earth I should be, something unexpected came up.

Now, I don't have any clue.

Of course, finding a cat, which by the way, looks surprisingly clean for being in this dirty environment, might mean there is at least a village somewhere near, but the cat didn't show any signs of a collar or a telephone number and didn't seem to want to go back to the 'place?' it came.

(By the way, all my personal properties, except some pocket money and a handkerchief I always brought with me, disappeared when I woke up. I just assumed they had been stolen as I was asleep)

Well, leaving that aside, the cat also had her problems (I checked, and the cat is a female).

She has trouble walking. In some way or another, her right paw had been impaled by a pointy-looking object, probably a splinter, resulting in minor bleeding, and although trying to keep an uptight face, if you looked in closely you could even see her trembling in pain.

And so, I decided to, for the moment, bring her with the sticks and stones I managed to gather to the temporal shelter (the cave).

Surprisingly, she let herself be picked up.

When we arrived, I put up together some tree leaves functioning as a small bed, and carefully let her rest, I also used water to wash the damaged paw.

Despite not having needles or tweezers, I carefully and slowly retrieved the splinter, while checking no remaining parts stayed stuck.

Next, I used my handkerchief to cover the minorly bleeding paw, and the basic procedure was done.

"It would have been great to have soap and alcohol to reduce the risk of an infection and sterilize the wound..."

*Mrreow?*

Well, she is looking great, so I guess it is better to let the worries behind.

"What do you think miss? Would you like to stay here with me?"

*Preow!*

Incredible... It almost seemed as if she could understand me... I think I saw her nodding for a minute there.
