Chapter 2
The Beginning of the "template"?
'Hmm a sphere and a template huh. What the fuck are those?' "system what is a template?" …….
"OK MYRIAD SYSTEM WHAT IS A TEMPLATE." In front of the current text bubble that is swaying from side to side as it were under a breeze a new set of bubbles begin to populate my vision as they grow tinging the blank darkness further in the ominous crimson color.
[Template: a model of growth that dictates how ones power and ability functions and forms. Templates range in many forms from simple to complex. The most used templates from other integrated populations can be displayed upon request, specific templates can be shown from specified requirements such as recommendations based on the users life, or specific qualities like specific weapon mastery. Up to three specified requirements can be requested at once. No template is inherently superior to others as they all have unique capabilities. Memories and past experience will factor into initial parameters.]
'Ok this sounds interesting? Seems almost like a class from video games, but it's way too ambiguous and seems more freeform?' reaching out with my index finger, I try to pop the text bubble and surprising it works. 'Well at least I can make them fuck off easily. I don't really buy the whole all are equal part, but let's give it a try. Though before that' "MYRIAD SYSTEM can I refer to the MYRIAD SYSTEM as something besides that to not sound like a jackass every time I yell MYRIAD SYSTEM?"
[Welcome! You are now integrated with the Myriad System. Would you like to choose a Template and form your Sphere?]
'Hmm seems like it either doesn't want to tell me or it's not capable of telling me? Let's test it a bit.' I reach out with my finger and pop the bubble once more, "Myriad System" and once again the previous text bubble generates before me. I pop it again and this time I go with "Myriad System what is the purpose of the this interface?". Once again the same text bubble generates. 'Ok so I guess either way it doesn't matter, whether it is intentionally ignoring me or simply incapable doesn't really affect the outcome either way. It seems to recognize things if they are in bold when I mention them, perhaps it merely defined "template" because I said it and not because of the question itself?'
"Template." This time the previous definition of Template forms before me. 'Ok so I can definitively say that it either defines template when I say it or it is reading my intent. I would lean towards the former because when I was calling for the system previously it didn't respond even though my intent was clear.' I muse to myself as I consider how to proceed. 'The thing I hate about people who get put into situations outside of their control is most of them are hasty with their decisions, the system hasn't implied I am on a strict time limit so worrying over it will do me no good. It seems rather like I'm stuck wherever the fuck here is until I proceed with this "template" business. I should try to capitalize on the fact I'm what seems like relative safety right now considering the previous warning of imminent death.'

'Perhaps the system as it were works more on a keyword basis than intent driven. If that's the case I may have to ramble out myriad system every time I wish for it to display, though perhaps the keyword basis is more like an index with an assortment of terms defined under a specific function to call on.' I scratch my head and mutter "Myriad."
[Welcome! You are now integrated with the Myriad System. Would you like to choose a Template and form your Sphere?]
'Alright seems pretty promising more of a keyword system, might as well try a few more to see if it's intent driven or more of an index of keywords.' I proceed to call out various things even going as far as to think of the definition of template while saying myriad. From my testing it seems it is a keyword system. From my experiments so far Myriad, Myriad System, M System, and M.S. return me to what seems to be the main prompt to the system itself as that displays what I assume is the main objective. Figuring out that I can simple use M.S. for shorthand could be useful in the future. So it wanted me to pick a Sphere as well right? Let's try to define that next. "Sphere"
[Sphere: The conceptualization of a foci. Must relate to template in some form as to not diametrical oppose one another. Recommended to pick a Template before a Sphere.]
'Alright that seems uhh kind of like garbage. What the fuck does that even mean? A "conceptualization of a foci."? I'll just pick a template and move from there I guess.' I sigh as I shake my head at this absolute garbage of a definition. 'It did state I can set parameters for how I want to view Template options. It seemed like the number of Templates might be a little on the high end. I could request the most popular from other "populations" as it stated, but what are those "populations" it seems like were in the metaphorical wild west, for all I know these populations are mainly crab people who live entirely underwater or inside lava lakes. I could probably reduce my selection down to "human" if I had to guess, but again what if they exist on worlds where majority of the people are part of a slave caste system and use Templates dictated by their society. It doesn't really help me to appeal to the masses without knowing what they are. A parameter that would be inductive to power could be simple like "Top 100 highest level templates that are human within parameters similar to my world." Though that could run into the issue of yeah these people are the strongest, but they were actually raised in an already established integrated population and got ahead of the curve due to nepotism. The opposite of that is that it is cutting out potential options just because they aren't similar to my world. Though the other side could also have the curveball of these people are part of some kind of elite force that rules over a much larger population. I imagine that there are probably integrated populations of planets that are 500x bigger than earth with 500x the population so potential outliers will be much more common. So while they may be the strongest myriad has, they may not actually be the strongest option as they merely have the circumstance to reach it. I also can't fathom the reach of the system, how many integrated populations are there? Is this a multiversal thing or what? What if it includes advanced civilizations that span across star systems so a Template that focuses on warfare on spaceships is actually super good in space, but absolutely garbage within a gravitational field. Regardless of my parameters I'm basically fucked sideways in some way or another. Since I can only specify three things, what are the most important three things to me?' I lay back and rest my head on the "ground" of the void. 'hmm it's kind of rubbery.' I rub my head on the surface of the plane I'm laying down on. I spend the next few undefined period of time? To consider my options. The passage of time here is very hard to judge. "M.S." The previous screen pops up and above my head as I lay down. I reach out with my finger and click on the word "template." The bubble expands as I pull my finger back and a new one forms in front of it.
[Template Specifications: State three requirements in order of importance for Template search.]
"Longest living, most influential within their own group, nature affinity." I say resolutely. 'After considering it for so long I just want to live long, be important to the people around me, and I love nature magic in any kind of game. The idea of chillin out in a forest with squirrels having a good time is right up my alley.' A bubble pops out in front of me in a very oddly tall ellipse shape. Numbered 1 to 100, at the top of the list shows a name and what I assume is their Template. Before I can truly browse the list a new people pops up in front of it unprompted.
