Chapter 3

“Okay so the gist of your plan is for me to enter the spotlight and look like a hero who serves you, but you treat me like trash in front of others.” As the two continued to discuss how they could make Ava appear as a villain while not actually committing two many evil deeds, a maid knocked at the door to reveal her presence.

“Young Mistress Ava, Master Steiner requests for you to come to his office.” After conveying her message, the maid walked off leaving Ava and Leo in a contemplative silence for a moment.

“Well looks like it’s time for earn an Oscar, don’t worry you won’t understand that. We now have six years to prepare ourselves for the academy, we won’t be able to really start any plans until then so now you need to focus on becoming the best student while I need to act like a spoilt brat. Hey, want to swap roles?” As Ava continued to grumble while they walked together towards the master’s office, Leo resolved within his heart to do even better that what Ava had expected of him.

With a goal to work towards, the young butler had lively steps as he looked into the future.

6 Years Later

6 Years isn’t an extremely long period, but it is more than enough time to create a reputation for oneself which is exactly what Ava had been doing in the past six years. Ever since her 12th birthday Ava would continuously lash out at anyone over the smallest things, this caused quite a shock to the people around her, especially her parents who had never seen her act like this. After getting her to see a doctor who stated that this was merely the affects of puberty, Ava’s ‘evil’ actions increased as the people around her slowly forgot about the nice, jovial Ava that she had been previously.

“Leo you dimwit! Didn’t I tell you to get me cakes from Le Crust, what type of commoner shit is this!?” Currently a young girl was screaming at a boy who was sat prostrated on his knees, the boy sat with wet hair that dripped water down his body thanks to the empty glass currently in Ava’s hand.

“I’m sorry Miss Ava, the shop was closed so I asked some passer byers for recommendations.” As the two continued their argument with Ava huffing and puffing, the other staff members in the mansion looked at the scene with pitying eyes. While Ava had worked hard to accrue hate, Leo had become a stand-up citizen and worked to help the mansion and the workers. Not only training himself, he tried to create a positive appearance in front of everyone else.

After about five minutes of harsh scolding Ava finally stormed off to her room with Leo in tow. As Leo entered the room after making sure that no one else was nearby he felt hands a pair of arms wrap around him from behind and a soft body pressed up onto him.

“Ava at least let me check that there’s no surveillance inside the room.”

“Don’t worry I already checked, there’s nothing. So be quiet and let me warm you up.”

The couple that stood next to the door had both seen drastic changes over the past six years, whether it was their personalities, their appearances or their skills, everything about them changed. Even their relationship.

Although Leo desperately tried to prevent it from happening due to his position, his heart didn’t lie as he became painfully aware that his feelings had been reciprocated by the woman he loved.

As the two stood there for a minute enjoying each other’s presence, they eventually separated giving Leo a chance to dry himself off.

“The academy starts tomorrow so we can finally open our mana pathways and get OP as hell.” After spending so much time together Leo had begun to pick up the weird terminology that Ava had started using ever since she gained the memories of another life. The two sat down at a small table by the window, basking in the warm sunlight as they enjoyed the cake’s which Leo had bought.

After finishing their snacks, Leo gently held Ava’s hand as he lovingly stroked it.

“It’s been tough for you, but the prince basically detests you, your parents don’t question your actions and there’s a widespread rumor that you’re a stuck up noble. The foundations are set so now our plans can properly come into fruition.” As the black-haired boy looked gently at the girl’s hand which seemed so small, his short cut black hair was rustled by the wind taking his attention away.

Looking out the window and seeing the clear blue beautiful skies, he failed to see the mischievous smirk of the black haired beaty as she sneakily got up and found a new seat on his lap.

“Ughmh, Ava, what are you doing?”

“Don’t mind me, just getting comfortable.” As the girl responded in a nonchalant voice, she shifted her weight causing a number of red danger sirens to pop off in Leo’s head.

Over six years the couple had both become attractive members of their respective genders, while Leo had a sharp sense of aesthetic making him look serious, Ava had grown in all the right places making her beaty unmatched (in Leo’s opinion).

After finally sitting still Leo wrapped his toned arms around ava’s waist as he rest his head on top of hers.

No words had to be said as the two bathed in each other’s warmth, getting themselves ready for the next few busy months where their plans would finally be put to use.

In order to get into the academy participants would have to complete a written and a practical test, this was to split the students into classes that showcased their talents. Although for other students getting into A class may sound like a far-fetched dream as only the most talented could enter, Ava and Leo had been working resolutely towards their goals for the past six years making it seem like a piece of cake. Although Ava appeared as a lazy student who had to bribe her way in, she had also spent a lot of time studying and training with Leo to prepare for their eventual fights against demons.

Scoring 90’s on every exam, people were convinced that Ava had cheated her way in yet there was no evidence so she couldn’t be stopped from getting admitted, Leo on the other hand managed to score perfect results in every exam causing him to be the leader of the freshman as he obtained the best results.

According to Ava, in the past this top spot would go to the prince who scored in the 90-100 range on each of his exams, yet these results were eclipsed by Leo who had been putting in extreme amounts of effort for a long time now.

As the students entered the spacious coliseum which was used due to its size, Leo and Ava walked proudly through the crowd. With Ava pushing her way through and Leo following behind the two eventually sat on the podium in the center of the coliseum which was designated for the top scorers for this year’s new students.

Waiting patiently for all the students to enter, the principle went on to talk about the school’s history which bored Leo out of his mind, while waiting for the scene to be set he glanced over and looked at his fellow top scorers. Sat to his right was the prince with his blonde hair and needlessly pretty face, looking at him still stirred up bitter emotions within Leo’s heart. Other than the prince, Leo struggled to recognize the others who sat further down the line, as he had spent the majority of his time training or following Ava, Leo had little time for socializing with peers.

“Now to welcome the new students, I call this year’s top scorer to the stage for greetings.” As the old principles voice echoed through the coliseum with the help of a magic powered microphone, Leo stood up and listened to the shocked voices that rang out through the crowd.

“Thank you, principle, now as you all may know my ever so loyal servant has decided to score top marks, thanks to my efforts in training him this has become possible. Now I hope we all have a fun year together.” With a cheery voice which did not accurately represent the words she had said, Ava stood next to the microphone as she followed the script the two had set.

As she went to sit back down, the shocked principle quickly recovered and sent everyone off after wishing them a good school year.

“Tsk, she still hasn’t changed I see.” Next to Leo the prince muttered under his voice with a slight frown on his face. As he walked off after slightly bad-mouthing Ava, he failed to see the glare that Leo shot his way, or the crushed arm rest which Leo had been holding onto.
