Chapter 7 - My Visual Novel

My game isn’t going well either...
Yes, I am also trying to make a game. It’s a test given to me by my dad to see if I could be the successor to his company. I decided to make a dating sim game. Dad’s game development company was popularised by their first game, which was a dating sim.
So I thought that it would also serve as a great start for my journey in the game development scene.
So, what is my game going to be about you asked? Basically, there’s 3 heroines that the mc can choose. One girl is a gyaru or gal, another one is a super shy girl, and the last one is the MC’s childhood friend.
There’s also a true end which is when the MC picks the childhood friend. Let me explain. There’s three routes, and the childhood friend is the main route. Now, the other two routes are basically your typical romcom.
The gyaru/gal route is basically where the MC tries to help the gyaru to get together with her crush, but they end up together instead.
The shy girl route is where the MC helps her to get over her shyness and they slowly get closer together and develop feelings.
The main route is where this story shines. Basically, the MC helps both girls but only stays friends. MC helps the gyaru to get together with the guy she likes and helps the shy girl decrease her shyness.
This route is also the hardest, because the MC has to do a lot of things and this route, unlike the two other routes, this route will be filled with drama.
The MC will have to do a lot of “bad” things to help the two, so his reputation in the school decreases.
After the player reaches 50% progress on this route, the childhood friend finally comes in.
She realises that what he’d been doing is actually for the sake of the two girls he’s helping. But because the two girls don’t even realise this, the childhood friend decides to step in and help him.
That’s all I’ve thought of for now. This game I'm trying to make... is far from being complete. I’ve been working on this since the start of this year, but I’ve only written 60% of the script and tried making the game using my stickman drawings with no music.
Programming it wasn’t super hard as it was only a visual novel. There’s already plenty of tools I can use which are specifically designed for visual novel creation. Plus, I already had knowledge in programming because I started right before middle school started, so a visual novel won’t be super hard to make.
But right now, my problem is finding illustrators and finding people to make music for my game and finding voice actors.
Well, in the worse case scenario, I can probably just ask for help from my dad.
Anyways, after walking for a few more minutes, I finally arrived at my house. The building is actually quite close to my house.
As I was opening my door, I saw Sakurai pass by my house.
There, I noticed Sakurai was holding a bag from a convenience store. I accidentally saw what was inside it and I saw that... the bag is filled with cup ramen.

After seeing this, my mouth moved immediately, and I said:
“Hey”
Hearing me, she looked back and asked:
“What?"
“...Is that all you’re going to eat this week?” I asked in a slightly worried voice.
“Yes, what’s the problem?” She said bluntly with a face that says that says: ‘please, mind your own business’. But I just said-
“Want to eat dinner with me again?”
“...Dinner?"
Suddenly, there was a clash of aura battling each other that appeared from Sakurai's back as she formed a conflicted face.
It appears that Sakurai is interested in the dinner i mentioned, but she is also thinking that I have some sort of motive for my action.
Making sure that no misunderstandings are formed, I immediately tried relieving her of her concerns.
“It’s not like that. I'm not doing this to get close to you. It's actually the opposite. But, I just wouldn’t be able to sleep well If I knew that my neighbour, ‘The prettiest girl in our school’ only ate cup ramen for dinner.” I explained, but it seemed like she was still not convinced.
“Look, if you don’t want to eat dinner in my house, I could just give it to you in a lunchbox or something.” After hearing this, she finally seemed convinced.
“I guess it should be fine if it’s you... It doesn’t seem like you’re interested in me.”
'Hearing that kinda hurts, you know?' I thought.
Apparently, she was just testing me if I really was a safe guy to be around with. After she said this, it felt like she finally let her guard down around me and started talking in a gentler voice.
“I can go eat inside your house. I don’t want to trouble you any further.” The aura coming from her stopped as she said these words in a gentle tone.
