Chapter 8 - Eating Dinner With Her... Again
Revised in Sept 29 3:33PM
After my exchange with Sakurai ended, I opened the door, and we went inside the house. My house was still messy. But, it was much less messy compared to last time she went inside my house.
I actually do clean the house, but I keep it to a minimum. If it’s not too messy, then I won’t clean it.
We then went inside the living room where I asked her to sit down and watch some TV. For some reason, she was very excited when I told her that she could use the TV... It seems like she was fascinated with the size and the quality of the TV.
After experiencing that weird... thing, I went to the kitchen and stored the things I bought from the supermarket. I brought out the required ingredients for the food I am about to cook. I'm going to make Hamburger Steak and Salad.
It looked like she needed more nutritious food as she looked rather slim. Too slim, in fact. It was not the healthy kind of slim either, as it looked like she was underweight. So that's why I decided to make a hamburger steak. And I thought that she wasn't eating healthy as well, so I thought I'd make a salad for sides too.
I took out the ground meat I was going to use. I'm using ground beef and ground pork with a ratio of 50/50. a whole onion, two eggs, breadcrumbs and milk. For the sauce, I took out my Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, cooking wine and mustard.
I opened the stove and put the pan on top. I fried most of the onions in the pan until it got caramelized and afterwards; I set it aside in a bowl to let it cool it down.
After that, I mixed 30 grams of breadcrumbs and 50 ml of milk and mixed them together. Next, I put equal parts of ground pork and ground beef (200g each) in a bowl and seasoned it with salt and pepper. I then added in the breadcrumbs and milk mixture and mixed them all by hand. For the next step, I cracked open an egg into the bowl and added the caramelized onions from before. I also added in the raw onions that I didn’t fry and mixed them all together, again by hand, until it becomes sticky.
Finally, I formed the two patties and cooked them in a pan with oil for 5 minutes in medium heat. After 5 minutes have passed, I flipped the burger and set them on the pan's side and cooked them for 1 and a half more minutes. After that, I poured in 140 ml of cooking wine in and a bit of water and covered the pan with a lid and lowered the heat to medium low and let it steam for 8 minutes.
After 8 minutes have passed, I opened up the lid and put the patties onto our plates. I then added the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard and sugar into the pan and stirred them together to create the sauce in low heat.
After the sauce finally thickens, I covered the hamburger steaks with it. I then made a simple salad and served it at the dining table.
“Dinner is ready”
Hearing this, Sakurai quickly yet quietly walked onto the table and sat down in the chair. I brought the Hamburger steaks and the salad onto the table and told her to eat. We then started eating.
As we were halfway through our meal, I noticed something. It seems like she’s avoiding the salad.
“Sakurai-san... why are you not eating the salad?”
Hearing this, her movement suddenly stops. She slowly brought her silverware down to the plate as sweat started building up on her forehead. Seeing this, I thought of something dumb. Something which I thought was Impossible.

It can’t be...I thought. But it was still a possibility, so I asked her.
“Sakurai... do you not like eating vegetables?”
After hearing this, Sakurai was shocked. She then turned her head away from me and said:
“Of course I can!” she said
Sure you can...
“Eat your vegetables then.”
“I don’t want to...”
'Are you 7 years old? Why don’t you like eating vegetables?' I thought.
“Look, you need to eat vegetables. I mean, you look so unhealthy. It’s pretty obvious that you haven’t been eating decent meals for a while now.”
After I said this, she looked surprised. “Eh?”she said.
“How did you know?”
“Well, it’s pretty obvious if you look closely. Your body way too thin for a girl your age, you know? Also, your eyes... they just look dead to me.” I answered. After hearing this. She took some salad onto her plate and ate them while sulking.
We had a nice, quiet, relaxing dinner afterwards.
