By the time they finished their lesson, Feng Quan was crying buckets. She was only a 10 year old girl and naturally hadn’t learned that much. Being reprimanded so harshly only made her cried.
Xiao Yu was satisfied when she saw that to the point that she couldn’t help but mentioning it when serving Feng Ning at night time.
“Miss, you have to be more careful in the future so that you won’t be fooled. The rules are very strict and if you’re not careful enough, you’ll be targeted by bad people,” Xiao Yu warned her Miss.
“I know.”
How could she be fooled so easily again? Feng Ning had already experienced so many different types of scamming in her original world. She was so stupid back then and easily trusted other people, leading to her own demise.
Now that she was in this world, the world ‘trust’ become the last thing that she would ever do.
Feng Ning’s eyelashes dropped slightly, concealing her expression.
It was not an expression an ordinary five year old girl could possibly make and if people were to see it, they might even think that she had some sickness in her mind.
“Do you want to rest today, Miss?” Xiao Yu noticed that Feng Ning didn’t seem like she was willing to talk about this matter any longer and tactfully asked something else.
“Mhm.”
Feng Ning spent the next few weeks dealing with her older sister. Towards someone like Feng Quan who just liked attention and wanted to showcase that she was better, the best move was to pretend to be stupid. Just a casual mention of the matter to Teacher Xi had earned a lot of punishment for Feng Quan.
However, her older sister didn’t seem to be tired yet.
This made Feng Ning troubled. She really wanted to have more time to be alone and not be bothered with other people, ah!
…Thinking about it, what would happen if she asked to be a nun?
At the very least, she didn’t have to deal with these annoying people and only needed to take care of some duties every single day. It sounded much better for an introverted person like Feng Ning.
…
People had to put on a mask.
And if they kept on wearing that mask, it would be hard to distinguish it from their real personality.
That was what Feng Ning currently feeling when she saw Xiao Yu dressed her up. She was always trying to be polite and all. Her first two years here were filled with her only sleeping, so she didn’t even realize that so much time had passed. After that, she had started to learn things little by little and acted as the stupid princess.
Rather than being outstanding and then picked on, it would be better for her to be the unremarkable princess who could be easily forgotten.
She hated being on the spotlight.
It was so annoying.
But after acting for nearly four years (excluding the first two years since she really felt that she had turned into a small baby who understood nothing), she could act foolish yet cute girl so easily. It had become somewhat her second nature by now.

“Miss, this celebration is very important, so you have to pay close attention to everyone who tried to get close to you,” Xiao Yu reminded worriedly.
Feng Ning nodded softly. She put on a reassuring yet somewhat foolish smile. “I’ll be fine, Xiao Yu.”
“Miss…”
The maidservants were all worried, but they couldn’t say anything. Looking at the servants around her, Feng Ning felt thankful that at the very least, she was not involved in some women’s battle. Even though being the forgotten and uncared princess was tough, she didn’t have to worry about a concubine scheming here.
Well, there was still the older sister who was annoying, though.
Looking at herself in the bronze mirror, Feng Ning admired the ancient era’s craftsmanship. Since most big war had ended and only some small skirmish was left, people were focused on improving their lifestyle and also art. Recently, this pattern had been popular and the princess bought a lot.
Obviously, Feng Ning was still given some. It was not much, but it was more than enough to make a dress for her.
“Miss is so beautiful,” The other maidservant, Xiao Lu interjected. She was older than Xiao Yu but she served Feng Ning shorter than Xiao Yu. “If anyone try to bother you, you can choose to stay away, Miss.”
“En.”
After dolling herself, Feng Ning then came out. This New Year was different because of the Emperor’s order. Her mother didn’t really want to head over to the palace, but she couldn’t disobey the Emperor.
Thus, they had no other choice but to go.
As Feng Ning approached the main hall, she could see her mother and father stood there. They were both dressed in red colored dress, looking elegant and beautiful. The servants around them bowed their head and tried their best to keep their presence low so as to not bother anyone.
In her mother’s arm was her three years old brother. His twin sister was standing at the side with the maidservant, looking at her own twin brother with displeasure.
Feng Ning’s eyes flickered when she saw that.
Great, after Feng Qian, there would be another jealous little sister.
She had long known that her mother had bias towards her younger brother, so she was unconcerned. But her older sister and younger sister were still young and naturally would not understand this matter. They only wanted their parents to care for them, which they naturally couldn’t give.
If Feng Ning didn’t have the memory of her past life, she was sure that her action might be worse than them. After all, she was such a spoiled girl in her past life because of her parent’s love to her.
“You’re here.” Lin Xie Ya looked at her daughter for a moment before pushing her attention back to her son again.
“Feng Ning greets Imperial Father and Mother,” Feng Ning responded perfectly. She was smiling at her parents, yet there was no warmth within the depth of her eyes. Instead, it was piercing cold to whoever was looking at the young girl.
Not long afterwards, Feng Quan arrived. Her eyes when she looked at her younger brother in her mother’s arm was filled with resentment. She was already 11 years old but for more than half of her life, she rarely received any care from her parents.
They were too busy trying to make another child.
“Everyone is here.” Prime Minister Fang, Fang Hou Zheng, looked at his children and nodded his head. It was time for them to go.
“Let’s go.” Lin Xie Ya pointed to the carriage while her other hand was holding her son tightly. She would never ever let anything happen to this son of hers!
