The explanation session ended right after Skuld told me to get a good rest and promised me to explain the rest for another day. Guided by Risa, I was taken to the building next to the cathedral— Or should I start calling it the shrine as well?
Compared to the shrine, this building was much smaller in size but in terms of elegance, this one didn’t fall behind.
We reached the building’s entrance, and my attention was immediately directed towards the wooden door. There were symbols— or runes, according to the nun, engraved on it surrounding a picture of a twin-horned snake. The snake had 2 clawed forelegs with long talons.
Quite a creepy creature, if I must say. Is there any animal that looks like this in this world? If so, I don’t even want to think about meeting it.
Once we entered the building, my eyes immediately feasted on the luxurious interior I had never seen before. Even Edward’s— my personal chamber wasn’t this extravagant.
Pillars made of pure white marbles with gold carvings and reliefs decorating them, pots and vases containing various kinds of exotic plants I never knew of lined up along the passage, and paintings of the creature I had just seen on the wooden door earlier; except they were pictured meticulously.
It took us around 3 minutes of walking from the building’s lounge towards my designated room, as we passed the other girls along the way. And just like that, Risa and I parted our ways after she handed me the room’s key. Her figure quickly disappeared through the long hallway.
Simply put, this building is a dormitory.

I finally got the chance to lie down and rest my body after, well, several hours full of crazy events. It was a tiring day, or rather, a tiring night since my inner clock told me that it was somewhen around 2 or 3 a.m. in the morning.
After inspecting the room for a bit and finding out that this room had an indoor bathroom, I decided to bathe and clean myself from all the dirt. But before that, I reached my hand to pull out the transparent orb I got from Risa and slipped it under the pillow since I didn’t know what to do with it yet.
Gently, I loosened the rope this body had used to tie the thin white cloth in my waistline and went inside the bathroom.
There, I spotted a bathtub made of white porcelain with 2 taps above it.
At first, I was clueless on how to operate it but when I followed this body’s muscle memory, my hand moved on its own to twist the tap with the red marking. I was really startled and jumped a little when hot water poured down into the tub like some kind of small fountain. I didn’t sense any mana from it so it must be the technology I had never seen before.
Perhaps there are pipes and burners underground to make this work?
After some time, I turned off the hot water tap and twisted the other one with the blue marking. And just like before, water poured down, but this time, it was cold water. I then continued to fill the tub up until the water became warm enough and immediately dipped myself in.
“Aah~ This is heavenly…”
Unconsciously, a squeal escaped from my lips as my brain was struck with sensations I had never felt before. It was warm, obviously. But this weird sense of comfort and nostalgia was the one poking deeply into my conscience. It felt like forever since the last time I had relaxed like this.
I thought it was time for me to review what had happened so far. Oh, I also remember that I have to access this body’s memories and immediately choose that as my first approach this time.
“[Memory Reading].”
I placed my index finger on my temple and braced myself for the sudden tingle in my brain.
The skill: [Memory Reading] is a unique skill I had incidentally acquired when I interrogated one of the corrupt nobles in my previous life. The early levels of this skill was somewhat useless since it could only access the memories from the past few days. But after leveling this up to max by using it repeatedly on the said noble until he went mindless, the range of memories I could access grew exponentially.
One could say, a suitable sacrifice is needed for the greater good. He was a corrupt noble anyway. Hence, he just got what he deserved.
Several holographic windows started appearing in front of me. Each was showing a certain past event that Elise possessed. It didn’t even take 10 seconds for me to widen my eyes in shock and surprise at how diverse Elise’s original world was compared to mine.
This certain memory, the one showing tall buildings known as the ‘skyscrapers’ shocked me the most. And my hypothesis was correct; Elise, this girl was originally from another world with advanced technologies and scientific inventions.
The next one was the memory of a vehicle made of metals and it didn’t even need magic or to be pulled by a horse to make it run. Instead, it consumes fuel called ‘gasoline’ to cause combustion in the engine and that’s what enables this vehicle to move. This vehicle is called a ‘car’ and just by looking at it I knew the world this girl came from is centuries— No, probably even thousands of years ahead of my world in terms of technology development.
Compared to this world, I’m not sure. I haven’t had the chance to look closely.
Another shocking thing I discovered was that there was no magic in Elise’s original world.
No, there was magic, but the people in that world don’t seem to believe that magic really exists. Magic comes from our faith and beliefs, and denying its existence completely closes off the only way to prove its validity and to exploit it in practical use.
Instead, the people in that world always try to solve the problems they face using their brain and logic only and that’s probably the reason why their science and technology is far ahead of ours. Quite an interesting course of action, but not efficient. As for me, magic development and technology should go hand in hand. Well, it’s not like I’ll have to do that again, anyway.
One after another, I diligently watched all the memories as I learned a lot of new things such as electricity, internet, nuclear reactor, and so many more.
However, I didn’t learn only good things but ‘revolutionary’ things as well since calling it ‘bad’ would somewhat hurt my feelings. Weaponries and arms, strategies and warfares, everything that didn’t exist in this world had been existing for many years in that world.
With this newfound knowledge, I wonder if I could resurrect my aides… No, I should let them rest, and I had decided to live a normal life no matter how thorny the road would be.

Unbelievably enough, I spent so much time in the bathroom. And when I went out to the bedroom, my eyes fell upon a big mirror just right above the drawer near my bed.
I approached the mirror slowly, still not believing what was reflected in it.
A girl with an outworldly, ensnaring face was gaping her mouth open. Her rosy lips were glistening and well proportioned; not too small, not too big, perfectly balanced. Her nose was on the smaller side, but it made her face even more brimming with youthfulness.
She had silky, silvery white hair that stretched until her waist. Her bangs were wet and overgrown a little, but it didn’t even mask her natural cuteness and loveliness.
For the finale, the golden colored pupils of hers took away my soul as I gasped, begging for air.
She was just that stunning; aside from the fact that some parts of her body hadn’t developed well enough…
In short, a little bit lacking on the bosom part, sadly.
Still, the girl’s beauty easily exceeded all women I had ever met both in this life and previous one. Even Tiana, one of my aides who self-proclaimed as the most gorgeous woman in the world, could stand no chance against this girl.
Should she stand against the goddess of beauty herself, it wouldn’t be strange for this girl to at least put up a good fight.
And ironically, I was only looking at myself in the mirror.
“Let’s get dressed up and lie down…” I said while dragging my feet towards the wardrobe.

I still had around 2 hours before the sun arose and was contemplating whether to sleep or stay awake. For the time being, I decided to summon my status and have a quick look at the new skill I had just gotten, the [Discerning Eyes of the Serpent]. The details were as follows:
[Discerning Eyes of the Serpent]
[Níðhǫggr is always keen on what’s in front of it. This skill allows the owner to gain a particular amount of understanding of the desired target.]
[Will only activate when you wish for it. Please proceed with extra caution.]
This skill ended its explanation with a warning and it made me extremely restless. Will my body explode if I carelessly use it? Or will something bad happen to my surroundings? Judging from its name and elaboration, this skill should allow me to see things more clearly, though? I don’t know. Let’s just try it…
I focused on the ceilings and squinted my eyes, while my brain fervently wished for something to appear. A moment later, I was met with a small holographic window.
[Ceilings (Object)]
[Crafted by skillful experts. Made of high-quality plywood.]
With my lips twisting in the shape of a crescent moon, I incidentally acquired the best skill possible as it would provide information I mostly lacked.
Later that morning, I dreamed about a pair of siblings getting crushed by falling construction steel bars and I woke up with tears flowing down my face.
