At first, Risa didn’t really understand why Skuld was acting strange all day.

Did Lady Skuld see something in her prophecy?

Still, Risa couldn’t bring herself to ask Skuld about it, and just let her be in the end.

To Risa, Skuld was a figure to cope and replace her lost sister’s figure. She was also her savior, her benefactor, and someone Risa had always looked up to. She was calm, kind, caring, reasonable, and charismatic, while sometimes could be scary and oddly comedic; just like how her sister behaved in the only fragmented memories of her past life.

However, when Skuld ordered her to save a girl named Elise in a certain slum on the ground that night, Risa’s impression of Skuld drastically changed as she saw Skuld was asking her with a warm smile on her face. This had never happened before. Even when Risa had successfully rescued a lot of girls in just a day, Skuld hadn’t smiled this warmly.

And that was when Risa realized; Elise was the Prophetess whom Skuld had always waited for.

Risa couldn’t possibly reject Skuld’s order, as she was aware that she was Skuld’s right-hand knight, together with the other 5 Aces, and it was her duty to fulfill all Skuld’s requests without saying no; all while feeling curious, obviously.

But, her responsibility came first and Risa quickly discarded all the unnecessary thoughts and descended to the ground where a ridiculously bizarre show was happening.

Before long, Risa already found the girl and she was acting strange. She was lying down on her back while punching her own chest several times. After some moments, the girl sat down and touched her body frantically.

Not long after, her course of actions changed again. As if she was possessed by some kind of ghost, the girl made her way towards the deeper part of the alley and once she reached the darker spot, she did several odd gestures with her hands while smirking like a madman.

Ah, this girl is a lost cause, Risa thought.

Seeing her acting that way, Risa gradually came to doubt Skuld’s order and went back to Náströnd to confirm it. Skuld, however, only smiled wryly and told her that that mad girl was the one she meant to save.

Save her from what?

Herself?

Then that’s not my problem, Risa thought again.

Still, Risa obediently descended to the ground once again.

Once Risa arrived at the place where she had found the mad girl the first time, no one was there. She only found some kind of icy rubbles and decided to ignore those.

Panicking like crazy, Risa tried to track the mad girl’s traces and she seemed to go into the even deeper part of the alleyway.

It took around 5 minutes for Risa to find the mad girl, all while flying. The mad girl was hiding beneath a pile of broken barrels in the corner of the alley and seemed to observe her surroundings. Despite that, Risa’s attention was shifted towards something else and landed on the nearest building’s roof.

“That man… He’s a spawn.”

Risa spotted one spawn of Yggdrasil, the source of all her suffering, as he possessed an eerie presence in contrast to his gloomy and skinny appearance. In Risa’s eyes, the man was bathing in a dark green haze, typical to any other spawn.

If only these creatures didn't exist, we wouldn’t have to suffer! Even big sis wouldn’t…

No. Let’s stop thinking about that.

Wait, what’s that girl doing?

Isn’t that… magic?!

Risa almost made her entrance after unsheathing her sword until an unusual sight entered her eyes and prevented her from dropping from the building’s roof. That mad girl, she was trying to shoot her magic towards the spawn.

In an instant, a train of questions flicked in Risa’s brain.

How can she use magic already?

No invocation, even?

Did she already regain her past memories?

If so, she must not be from Earth since we didn’t have magic back there.

But Lady Skuld told me only girls from Earth are suitable for Níðhǫggr’s blessings.

Does it have something to do with her blessing?

Maybe she already awakened?

Or no. There’s no way she awakened.

I can’t sense any essence from her after all.

Then… that doesn’t provide the answers to my questions.

Urgh!

This is confusing!

And while Risa was lost in her own world, the mad girl actually messed up. It was too close, even for Risa, to use [Impregnable Shield (Aegishjalmur)] and protect the kid. She was perplexed at her shield’s condition where it was charred beyond recognition.

That shield was supposed to be able to deflect even the strongest attack from the God of Destruction himself according to the legends.

Overcome by her own astonishment, Risa slapped her own cheeks and returned back to her senses.

Let’s show off a little bit.

In the end, Risa sort of nailed it and immediately made her grand entrance to save this Elise girl who wore no expressions whatsoever on her face all this time.

During the flight, Risa’s brain wandered.

There’s something strange about this mad girl…

But I don’t know what.

Well, let’s ask Lady Skuld once we’re at Náströnd.

Risa herself knew, she always thought too much, causing herself not to be able to form proper words to express her idea. And that’s what was happening on their way to Náströnd.

All this time, Elise’s face strangely didn’t change that much; except the girly shriek from when she suddenly got taken away by Risa as they took off from the ground.

Still, she casually asked some questions and Risa answered those without making any needless explanation. Just straight to the point, that’s what made Risa ‘Risa’.

Let’s see what kind of reaction she will make when Náströnd is in sight.

I doubt she will stay unfazed like this.

How can she still stay unfazed!?

Hellooo? It’s a flying island in front of us, you know!?

Is she even looking at Náströnd?

… Yes, she’s looking at it…

Then why…?

***

“Raise your head. I didn’t ask you to do this.”

As Elise's sudden change in her voice touched her conscience, Risa almost flinched, completely not expecting to feel the tremendous amount of charisma and terror at the same time. She rolled her eyes slightly to see Elise, and what was reflected in her eyes was no longer the mad girl who had a few screws loose in the head she had just abducted.

Instead, she was a figure that must be revered and worshiped upon; a literal God in the making.

What is this pressure…!?

Even Lady Skuld isn’t this scary when she’s angry!

How about Anne and the others?

Kneeling down in front of Elise, Risa and the other girls were trying their best to keep their sanity intact. Slowly, she rose up and almost fainted after catching sight of the dark purple haze oozing out from Elise’s body. Clad in a white blanket and a thin white cloth that was tied on her waist-line, Elise’s appearance didn’t fail in making the haze even more visible to the eyes.

Her eyes, menacingly glowed, as if purposely imposing her outworldly killing intent on the girls.

Oh.

So, that killing intent’s what I found strange from this girl.

And her eyes are looking… lonely for some reason.

Still, what is that dark aura, by the way?

As expected, it’s only us 6 who could somewhat withstand this pressure.

Let’s smile a little to encourage the others…

Oi, oi, oi, oi! Why is Anne smiling like that!?

Disgusting! Disgusting! Disgusting!

She couldn’t help but retort internally at the expression the nun made when Risa turned her gaze to her.

“It’s Elise. Just call me Elise.” said Elise as Risa’s eyes were glued on every action she made. “I don’t like being called that. And that formality, can you make it stop?”

“O-Oh, yes. I shall carry out your order immediately.”

“Pfft…!”

Ah, shit, my snort!

I couldn’t hold it!

Please, don’t look at me!

It’s just been a while since I saw Lady Skuld panicking like that!

It was due to that! Really!

Oh, I should get in the line as well.

Orinda is with me? I see…

Err… Shouldn’t it be Anne who is supposed to walk beside me?

Why is she walking next to Elise?

***

“Honestly speaking, yes. I just cannot fathom your action. Why would you show someone you don’t even know this kind of kindness? It’s really suspicious, y’know that?”

Eh…?

Why is this girl accusing Lady Skuld for no reason all of the sudden?

Does she really think we had the time to poison the food?

The order to bring you here was so sudden, you know!?

Ah…

Now Lady Skuld’s tearing up.

Before long, Risa could see Elise shifting her attention to her while putting up an eerie air across her whole existence. The corners of her lips also raised, shaping a really disturbing and hair-raising sort of a wicked smile.

“Eat.” she commanded while pointing at the food in front of Risa. And obviously, Elise herself didn’t know that she was once again leaking out the dark haze all this time.

Ah, what do I do? Lady Skuld! Lady Sku—

Nope. She gave up.

… Alright.

Let’s just eat calmly.

How about An—

Look at that! Look at her expression!

Why does she look so ecstatic like that!?

Does being intimidated excite you that much!?

I really can’t understand these two!

And what’s with those eyes!?

Without feeling the slightest peace of mind, Risa forced herself to finish the meal, leading her to almost choke on her food and frantically took a sip of a glass of water.

***

I can’t believe it’s that time already…

[Níðhǫggr’s Hunger Aura], huh?

The world is nearing its ending, just like how Lady Skuld told me 3 years ago.

But with that, we can finally…

Anyway, why is Elise staring intensely at my back?

Guiding Elise to her room, Risa was walking steadily in the front. In her hand, the key to Elise’s room was swaying gently, compared to the chaos that was happening inside her head at the moment.

I can feel her gaze focused on me!

Why? Why?

Did I do something to upset her?

No, right?

Then why?

Does she ‘swing’ that way?

Eh?

Ehh?

EHH?

Unable to contain her own emotions of being suddenly adored by someone, Risa quickly trotted through the hallway with her heart thumping like crazy after handing the key over to Elise, wordlessly. Not because of love, but more of misunderstandings and… unvented lust.

At last! Today’s been soooo nerve wracking…

… Still, Elise looks at me ‘that’ way, huh?

Should I reciprocate her feelings? There’s only girls here anyway…

No, let’s get to know each other better first!

Yes, let’s see what kind of a person she really is. But…

Let’s reward myself tonight… Should I imagine doing it with her?

With those kinds of mistaken thoughts, Risa entered her room and locked the door. The story about the loud rustles and moans from her room will be for another time.

While in fact…

Elise didn’t actually keep her eyes on her. It was only Risa being too overly conscious after seeing how peculiar of a being Elise was. And obviously, it would develop into some kind of bizarre relationship between the two in the near future.
