After pulling out her sword from the ground, the girl swiftly tread towards Pablo’s dead body. She dragged her sword on the ground purposely, and even though I couldn’t look at what kind of expression she was making, I instinctively knew she was smiling. As for the reason, I had not the slightest idea.

The girl then stomped on the body’s back and glanced at me, signaling me to come closer. It would be troublesome if she got mad so I forced myself to obey the girl’s order. Every step I took was heavier than the one before. Still, what was she trying to do with the already dead man?

“Look.”

After briefly saying that, the girl thrust her thin sword at the location where the heart should be. I had expected to hear something meaty being pierced, but what entered my ears was a completely different sound.

*Clank!*

The sound was that of a metal meets another metal, and a loud one, it was. It was then followed by another clanking sound as the girl twisted her sword, opening a hole the size of a small tennis ball on the body’s upper left back. Huh? Again? Tennis ball?

And inside there, I could see it; an orb made of glass that looked so fragile and easy to shatter, while in fact, the girl’s facial blood veins were bulging, indicating that she was exerting a huge amount of energy just to maintain her sword’s continuous twists on the green colored orb.

Amidst the girl’s seemingly unfruitful struggle, I decided to open my mouth and asked, “What is that? Um…”

It didn’t even take a long time until she replied.

“... Risa. My name’s Risa.” The girl kept twisting her sword while replying to me. “This is the seed. Urgh! Yggdrasil’s seed.”

“I-I see…”

Honestly, I didn’t even understand a single thing the girl, Risa, had explained to me. The seed? Yggdrasil? I had never heard or seen those terms before. Even in my previous life, I had hoarded all knowledge across the continent and none of that was possessed by me.

Intriguing, indeed, but I had no time to even ponder about that as Risa’s sword suddenly made a disturbing high-pitched sound. I covered my ears in response, and when the sound stopped, Risa grabbed my hands and dragged me a little bit further away.

“Here it comes. Cover your mouth. Don’t breathe.” the girl coldly ordered me and pinched her own nose. I was about to retort and asked what would happen but my gut instinct was telling me to quickly do what she had told me to.

A moment later, the dead body started to melt as it released thick, green fog around it. It was so disgusting to the point I almost gagged so hard to see the melting process, leaving only bones, intestines, and Risa’s sword that was still stuck deeply into the orb. I glanced at Risa’s direction and instead of grimacing or making any kind of disgusted face, she was grinning widely.

After the fog vanished, Risa quickly retrieved her sword with the orb on its tip. It seemed to have changed its color to transparent, but the hardness remained unchanged. She plucked it off of her sword and handed it over to me. I was skeptical and backed away a little, until she forced my palm to grab the orb.

“Don’t worry, it’s already purified. Do you understand your job?”

“... That… is not the problem…”

I couldn’t help but tilt my head in confusion. Seriously, what is this girl trying to say? There were too many questions inside my brain that needed answers and she expected me to understand everything just after seeing what she had done? To hell with that logic!

Deep down inside, I was a little annoyed at how arbitrary this Risa girl was acting. Everything she did was so random in my eyes.

Sure, I understood the concept of her actions, but without the detailed and proper explanation, how could I know what to do and what not?

In the first place, why did she even help me? She had no reason to do so and it left me hanging with speculations.

She probably could read my mind and heaved a sigh. After sheathing her sword, Risa placed her hands on my shoulders and shoved her body onto mine. I was startled, completely not expecting to be treated like this by a random girl I had just met not too long ago. She squeezed me tightly, as if telling me not to think about anything unnecessary.

“Come with me.”

“... Eh? What do you mean by th—gyaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”

I didn’t even get the chance to question her intentions as Risa pulled me in and jumped so high up in the night sky, taking me together as she bolted towards a certain direction. It was so absurd and I couldn’t help but feel like getting kidnapped by her. No, this is not a mere kidnapping! This is an abduction!

“H-Hey, Risa? Where are we going?”

Along the way, she was so silent and the tension between us was too awkward. We had been flying for almost 10 minutes and she didn’t even hold the simplest conversation with me. I had to break the ice by asking that albeit I could feel my face was still blue due to how scary flying was.

“Home.”

“Your… home?”

“Yes.” she briefly replied. “And your home too. Soon.”

“... Eh?”

It was the nth time that day I had let out such an idiotic sound from my mouth. Too many eventful happenings just in a single night, and my head was about to burst open realizing that it was too much for me to take in. I even started to feel dizzy, albeit it was perhaps because of the flight, not the fact that I had been thinking too hard this whole time.

“Hey. Is it just me or we’re getting higher?”

“Yes.”

I should have known about it. The moment it was getting harder to breathe no matter how deep I inhaled should have been the time I became aware that we were flying even higher. Below me, I could see fluffy lumps of white cotton candy-like objects. The clouds. If only the day was bright, I would probably have enjoyed the scenery more; all with my legs still shaking like crazy out of fear, obviously.

Not long after, something even more amazing entered my line of sight. My jaw dropped and it felt like I stopped breathing for a moment. I mean, who wouldn’t? In the presence of something that caliber, who wouldn’t stop breathing for a moment!?

Above the clouds, a huge island was showing off its grandiose existence. It even had trees, bushes, a little portion of a grassland, cliffs, and a river overflowing with fresh-looking water. But that was not all. It was just the outside of the establishment that was as huge as a continent itself.

No, I was kidding. It wasn’t that big of a complex. But it was much bigger than one could imagine. Something that should be impossible to even float an inch above the water level.

There were 4 buildings inside that establishment; the biggest one in the middle looked like some kind of cathedral with numerous tall towers, and the rest was situated on its sides. Between the cathedral-looking building and the main gate, a vast grassland accompanied by a circle altar made of stone that looked so ancient was presented.

And judging from Risa’s movement, that was where we would land.

Slowly, we descended on the stone altar while so many girls dressed in the same attires as Risa’s were waiting there. With a slight glance, it was easy to tell that they were more or less at the similar age as me. Their eyes were sparkling, and for some reason, I knew their gazes were fixated on me.

Was there something wrong with my face?

Without even saying anything, Risa released her grab on me, resulting in me falling to the ground face first. Oh, what a nice first impression in front of these fine ladies. I raised my body and prepared my tongue to do its job: retorting and whining, but immediately stopped when the other girls started to flock around me and have their way with my body~

… No, they didn’t. They only welcomed me with warm smiles and covered my body with a thick layer of white blanket. I had completely forgotten that I had only been, almost, apparently, wearing my birthday suit all this whole time, and the blanket successfully warmed my heart, soul, and of course, my body. Until suddenly the familiar beeping sound rang in my ears along with the notification window I had missed so much appearing out of thin air right before my face.

No, seriously, where have you been, my system?
