Without nodding back to the mysterious woman, I ran away in the opposite direction. It was currently late at night and I've only slept once. I could feel the fatigue pilling on top of me.
I needed a place to sleep and the only place I could think of was… the dorm. I was going to go back to school, but only once I got stronger. If I got into a dorm with somebody who would start bullying me, then I'd rather sleep outside in the trash...
Who am I kidding! I am going to get bullied, I'll just sleep in an alleyway.
…
I slept in an alleyway.
My back was currently leaning against the side of a tall, white, ceramic building. Last night I found this place and noticed that no doors connected to this alleyway. It was the perfect spot for taking a nap.
As I stood up, I saw the sun and estimated that it was about 11 in the morning.

[Shop]
[Inventory]
[Map]
…
So three new options… I'll try the [Shop] first.
"Shop," I mutter.
[Shop]
[1200 G] | [Convert to Dollars]
[Skill Book: Snake Necromancy] [10000 G]
[Weapon: Basic Macuahuitl] [1500 G]
[Potion: Healing Potion] [300 G]
[Evolve for more options]
…
This is pretty useful. The more monsters I slaughter, the more money I can get in real life since I'm practically homeless and have no money for food.
The thing that intrigues me the most though, would have to be the shop options since I can get more skills from here. Also, healing potions are reserved for peak B-rank and above only and I can buy them here for only 300 G… I'm ȧssuming G means gold. Usually, healing potions would cost a quarter of a million dollars.
I heard my stomach grumble and only then did I realize how hungry I was.
For now, I decided to convert the gold to money so I can survive. I might die from hunger or lack of shelter before I even get to use things I buy from the shop.
I opened my status and instead of thinking of the option I tried something different. I hovered my finger over the [Convert to Dollars] option on the black panel with green writing in front of me. I then pressed the panel and to my surprise, it worked. My status disappeared and a new panel appeared in front of me.
[Transaction Complete]
"What? How am I even supposed to receive the money? Do I get cash or do I have an account created? Wait…"
I remember my mom set up a bank account for me so I could earn money from part-time jobs, but sadly, I wasn't able to end up using it since nobody hired me.
I ran to the bank and when I arrived I was out of breath like usual. Many people stared at me which I tried my best to ignore but couldn't help but get chills. I felt some of the eyes that watched me, had some bad intent causing my face to distort into a face of disgust.
Continuing to walk to the front desk, I saw that there was no line for the counter so I walked up to the receptionist and said,
"I would like to check how much I have in my bank account,"
"I need your name and the code just to verify it is you," replies the female receptionist while continuing to type on her keyboard.
"Lucy Amana. The code should be 1-2-7," I whisper to the receptionist.
All of the bank employees are trustworthy which is why you have to say your pin code for all of them. Never has any of the employees leaked information to somebody but if it did, it was covered up nicely since I haven't heard about it.
The punishment I have heard for leaking personal info was life in jail while being tortured once every week. The last part seems a bit extra but it made sure no receptionist would do something so scummy.
I was also slightly worried that my account could've been shut down due to me not using it.
Also, the code is my birthday, January 27th, which is why I was able to remember it despite me never using the account. My mom had always been thinking of me even when creating my code for the bank account.
"For Lucy Amana… You currently have 12,000 dollars in your bank account. Would you like to make a deposit or withdraw?" says the receptionist uninterested in people with so little amount of money.
Though that amount of money was very little compared to others… my jaw dropped. The amount of gold that I had in the system translated to 12,000 US dollars in real life. Now I could afford new clothes, food, water, and a place to stay.
"Can I sign up for a bank phone?" I request.
Credit and debit cards were way out of date. Every transaction out there always uses technology. Banks all over the world adjusted to this and quickly replaced debit and credit cards with something called a bank phone.
Luck was the internet browser these days. If you wanted to search something up online then a common human would search their question on Luck.
Now moving onto the main part of the bank phone, Transactions. They weren't as simple as you would think. Of course, you can do transactions but there were also different tiers of the Transactions app. There were 3 tiers, the first tier which is Transactions, then Gold Transactions, and finally Black Transactions.
The higher tier you have of the app, the less amount of tax you had to pay. Also if you showed the gold or black app to a store owner, they would immediately deem you VIP for life. The problem was Gold Transactions cost about 500,000 US dollars, while Black Transactions cost about 2,000,000 US dollars.
"Yes, just fill out this form," The lady says, sliding a piece of paper in front of me.
I grabbed the pen right next to me and filled out the entire sheet of paper. It was basic information such as your full name, birthday, address, and your source of income. For the address, I just put none and came up with a decent excuse. While for the source of income, I just put student and in parentheses put currently unemployed.
"What are you homeless?" the lady says while sneering at me.
"I'm currently moving between apartments," I say with cold sweat dripping down my cheek.
The receptionist gave me a long stare before saying,
"Sure… your bank account is now connected to your bank phone. If you ever lose it then come back here so we can track it," says the receptionist while pulling out something from under her desk.
She handed me a 146 x 71 x 7 mm (A/N - Basically the same proportions as a normal smartphone today), silver phone that had the engraving of a gold coin on the back. I gripped the phone tightly in my hand before thanking her and walking out of the bank.
"First I need to get some new clothes. I don't even know how guys ŀust after me despite these torn and dirtied clothes," I mutter while dusting off some dirt from my white dress.
I went to a women's clothing store right across the street. Once I entered, I got many stares of disgust and once I walked past the entrance another customer came in with a beautiful dress.
The employees saw this wealthy person and immediately went up to her asking,
"Is there anything, in particular, you would like to order to today miss?"
I could only sigh at the employee's actions as I proceeded to look for decent clothing.
I looked at many dresses but I never took a liking to any of them. I clicked my tongue before moving on, to look at some pants and shirts.
My set of clothing was soon found as I walked up to the counter. I placed a pair of sweatpants, a shirt, and an oversized hoodie that I took a liking to. The pants were snow white with light green streaks on them. The short-sleeved shirt that I bought was pretty normal, just a white t-shirt that said New York in black.
I also placed multiple pairs of white undėrwėȧr and bras since I needed them as well. When I was in the changing room testing out the clothes I measured my brėȧst size and saw that I was C-cup. Pretty average if I would have to say so myself.
Finally, the hoodie that I took a liking to. Since it was oversized the white hoodie with streaks of light green on its arms and ċhėst went halfway down to my thɨġhs. Light green tassels hung down the front and on my arms as well. The actual hoodie part didn't even touch my head as it kind of stood up on its own.
"Can you even afford this? This one set of clothes is pretty expensive, even for a slightly rich person," says the cashier, looking me up and down.
"Why would I pick out clothes I can't afford…?" I say slightly annoyed.
"N-nevermind… T-that would be 368.99 dollars plus tax," the cashier says, surprised by my response.
I could always sneak back into a dungeon and gain so much more money so I thought I could treat myself while I was at it.
I hovered my bank phone over a screen embedded into the table after pulling up the Transaction app. I pressed the "search for transaction screen" buŧŧon and then it said if I wanted to confirm my order. I pressed the yes option causing my bank phone's screen to display a loading sign.
"Transaction completed," said my bank phone in a robotic voice.
The cashier was frozen in shock as she checked the screen on the table and saw that the transaction did indeed go through.
"Can I get a bag," I say?
"A-as you wish," says the cashier, quickly changing her attitude.
She folds all my clothes up nicely before putting them in a large bag and handing it to me.
"Thanks," I say while grabbing the bag and walking away with a displeased expression.
