Turning around, I saw the humans… in tanks, in helicopters, in massive mechs that pilots controlled.
They tried to contest against the monsters, but the bullets did nothing, and the overwhelming number of monsters destroyed and slammed the mechs to the ground.
It was a one-sided slaughter, and I could bȧrėly even look at it due to how pitiful my race was.
"Or, ex-race, I guess," I mutter before hearing a beeping sound.
"Successfully unmuted… Welcome, Beta Tester… the administrator has finished setting up your party of… 33 participants… as you have no power stone, please select one from the given few below," The robot says, creating a panel similar to my status in front of me while the war around me completely disappeared, leaving the blank white room to wrap around me once again.
The same menu with different items and power stones appeared, and I got half of the amount of money from before. Plus, there were no wings but instead a grappling hook which I bought for any necessary movement.
My Basic Water Power Stone was still selected within the system, so I just shrugged it off before confirming everything and waiting for my other classmates to finish.
And after a few more minutes, the robot in front of me unmuted itself and began to speak.
"Buying process has finished for all participants… please brace yourself for nausea… please brace yourself for nausea… please brace yourself for nausea… please brace yourself for nausea… please brace yourself for nausea… please brace yourself for nausea…." The robot says as my vision distorts.
My vision suddenly turned pitch black, and a sinking feeling appeared in my stomach. It was something I hadn't felt before, so slight worry began to rise, but after my vision began to work again, it quickly washed away.
A jungle. A jungle like that of movies. It was dense with vegetation, and the humidity in the air could be compared to swimming in a pool.
The air was sticky, making the armor on my body feel slightly uncomfortable. And when I looked around at my classmates, I noticed they were struggling with what I ȧssumed to be a hot temperature.
"Damn, this heat is something," Mia says from beside me, but it is obvious she was joking.
She had felt heat much worse from this, and when you compared her to our classmates, you could immediately tell she wasn't sweating in the slightest.
"Okay, testing, testing," A robotic voice rang through my mind.
"Did you hear that?" Mia asks after slightly jumping due to its sudden appearance.
"Yeah, it's the same voice from the menu," I reply.
"Hello, it's me, the receptionist from outside your capsules. You're going to participate in a recently discovered dungeon, one that dates back to prehistoric times," A high woman's voice explains as I make sure nothing was wrong with my body.
Prehistoric huh? She couldn't have made it any less obvious.
"Dinosaurs," Mia mutters with a sadistic smile, causing a shiver to be sent down my spine.
Ah… She's like me… Isn't this bad? Two sadists in a relationship?
"There's a difference between a sadist and somebody who likes to kill and fight," Mia says after seeing my troubled expression.
"What… Where's the difference?"
"Somebody who likes to kill is a psycho, and a sadist is somebody who likes to see others in pain… and some other things, but that's the main feature," Mia says, her eyes trailing slightly, but I decided not to dig any deeper.
"Huh? So I'm just a psycho?" I reply.
"Yeah. Everybody who gets a power stone is a psycho as they feel much more powerful than the average person. This causes their ego to rise, and they think they can do anything… Why do you think power stone users cause all murders in this day and age?"
"Everybody?"
"Well, I mean, there are exceptions... Like you know the pope? He's pretty chill, but everybody else in the church just puts on a mask... Kinda creepy," Mia replied before feeling a rumble beneath my feet.
The trees shook with each rumble, and despite signs of an earthquake showing, we all stood still like blocks of stone wedged into the ground.
"Get ready," Mia says as she creates a spear made from blue fire, and I create a ball of water in my hand.
I didn't reply but just squinted my eyes towards the tree line where a looming shadow grew closer to us.
ROOOOOOOOAAR
A terrible lizard appeared in front of us. It's two large legs crushing anything below it, its massive jaws with crooked yellow teeth protruding from it like blades on a shuriken. The arms that hung from the sides of its body were pitifully small, but that didn't mean the rest of the dinosaur was scary.
But those were probably the least noticeable parts…
"What the hell is that?" Mia mutters in disbelief, having her expectations crushed to the ground.
That's not a dinosaur…
The large head of the T-rex was covered in massive spines that seemed to be combed back. Its scales were a deep black, and its eyes were a ghostly white, even emitting a slight white glow, enhancing its creepy appearance.
Much longer claws replaced the claws on its feet and hands, at least 5 feet in length, and the very ends of them were carved into a blade.
"RUN!" One of the kids in our class screamed, and without hesitation, we all ran.
The roar shook the trees around us, even causing some to sway and block our paths. But there were also hundreds of vegetation, hindering us from keeping a constant speed, so I tried to jump up and grab onto a tree branch.
We clearly couldn't outrun it, so we had to think of another way.
Desperate, the rest of my classmates mimicked me, but once the "T-rex" had caught up, it squatted before jumping so high that when it ate one of my classmates, it followed through to the canopy of the tree.
"Everyone! We have to attack! There is no other choice!" Mia shouts.
This was also the reason we ran away. The bloodlust was so strong that our instincts screamed for us to run.
"REMEMBER, THIS IS NOT REAL LIFE! BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN TO CHARGE IN STUPIDLY!" Mia announces though everybody already knew that.
The kids at our school are either hard workers, geniuses, or things not even considered human. And those things not even considered human don't really come to classes so that only leaves the remaining intellectuals and hard workers.
After everybody ȧssumed their roles positions, we all started the battle, unsure of what was to come next.
The close combat kids in our class, which made up half of us, charged in from all directions while also shifting their eyes towards everybody else, hoping for a chance to steal the final hit.
"Since I'm a mage, maybe I should sit back and absorb some of its bloodlust," I mutter before closing my palm, dispersing the ball of water instantly.
My classmates weren't doing half bad, and everybody was very proficient in their own skillset.
I was even surprised they managed to even hold the monster in place despite their constant struggles for gaining the upper hand… over each other, of course.
There was absolutely no teamwork, but they kept the dinosaur at bay.
After ensuring I wouldn't be interrupted, I sat down on the ground and crossed my legs before closing my eyes.
I quickly entered a meditative state and released strands of bloodlust. These strands were thin and powerful, but it seems they were no match for the monster's bloodlust.
"Foooooo,"
I guess it would be more challenging if I did this while it's alive.
I released larger strands of my bloodlust, which began to intertwine into ropes that started to take physical form. But as I kept my bloodlust towards the ground, nobody saw them.
"Urk- *cough* *cough* *cough*,"
I did one significant push into the dinosaur but was quickly countered, causing me to cough up several mouthfuls of blood.
"What are you doing?" I hear a sly voice ask from behind me.
