Huh? Did he miss? But doesn't it teleport directly to me? Or maybe…
"I can't tell if he's faking me out or that's actually a problem he has," I mutter while lowering my stance below some of the dungeon runners in front of me.
The Write head clicked his tongue once again, and the fissures below us had expanded, causing all four of us to fall through it.
Krkkkkkk
I instantly made a platform of ice, but it was quickly shattered as the fissure now ravine was quickly closing on us.
As we fell, we asked for ȧssistance through the hivemind.
'Anybody gonna help?' Charna asks.
'You can panic more if you want,' Aria says, but the nonchalance in her voice screamed, we were going to be saved.
They then stabbed their swords into the closing ravine and pulled up against the handle, shooting us out of the gorge.
The Whix girl was screaming, and her blind eyes were looking frantically around.
"We're in the air. Stop moving so much," Charna says, but the Whix girl paid no attention as she screamed in terror.
As soon as we landed back on the ground, a dozen of sharp black rocks almost cut the head of the golden knight I was on, clean off.
If he hadn't ducked just in time, not only would he have gone back to his summoner, but my head would've gotten cut in half as well… So I was a bit thankful.
The knight then let us hop off, which we regrouped with the other dungeon runners, who now measured the man's capabilities.
"What do we do?" One of them asks.
"Kill him obviously," Another replies, but everyone knew it wasn't going to be that easy.
I need to kill this guy before he exposes my identity as a monster… Tolf might not be able to kill me anymore… but I don't want Mia to look at me like that again.
Recently I've been having nightmares, and it wasn't the one where you just toss in turn in your bed. No, it's one of those nightmares where you wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat.
It was from before I acquired this system, when I was powerless, and when I was bullied to no end… leading a miserable life with only my mother as a single ray of hope.
I walked to school, feeling the eyes of seemingly predators stalking me, leaving a weird feeling lingering across my skin.
As soon as I stepped into the school, everybody seemed to be silhouettes with highly detailed eyes that looked at me with only disgust.
Tolf looked at me with disgust and ridiculed me because I was a monster now, not a human.
I cried, trying to explain to them why I became a monster, but they just walked away… and then came Mia, from the back of the group.
She walked up to me slowly, and I immediately hung onto her waist, begging for her not to hate and leave me.
'Get away from me, you disgusting thing,' She would always say, and I slumped onto the floor.
I bawled my eyes out before jolting awake, lathered in cold sweat and goosebumps crawling all over my body.
"*sigh*... We'll use the guys in front as cannon fodder because I need to confirm something,"
Everybody nodded without questioning my decision.
Either that guy has a range for where he can teleport the rocks, or sometimes he miscalculates where he wants the stones to appear.
My observation lasted for about 5 minutes but found absolutely nothing, and as the crowd of cannon fodder was thinning out, we decided to make our move.
The girls also seemed to be struggling with holding back their overflowing rage.
'Alright, we'll make our move soon, just calm down,' I say, through the hivemind.
'Come on! Look! He's getting tired!' Astra shouts through the hivemind, and when I looked at the Write head, I noticed he was getting tired… but he was completely faking it.
He was just doing that to lure in more, so this job will be cleaned up quickly.
'He's obviously faking it. I also think we're going to retreat soon as the monsters from the portals around the city are being drawn in by the large war right here,'
'What?! Are you serious?!" Aria shouts, but I ignore her and continue my observation.
The army finally made a move, forcing the Write head backward, but he wasn't really losing.
It was more like he was drawing them into a trap that was inside the vicinity of his mansion... Which is probably what's happening.
Welp, if they're going to die anyway...
[Corpse Explosion]
A smile crept onto my face as the faint smell of gunpowder crossed my nose and the corpses that had stacked on top of each other blew up.
Everybody including me was blown away from the sheer force as I underestimated how many corpses there actually was.
[HP: 126/133 MP: 47/133 SP: 79/84]
Shit that used too much mana.
As I looked up, the smoke had begun to clear and a massive crater in the middle of New York was revealed.
"What the hell," I mutter, just to relieve any suspicion I might get later on.
"What just happened?" Charna mutters.
Amanda on the other hand was shaking a bit from the large sound, showing some signs of shell shock which I never thought I'd see in the modern era.
And the Whix girl… She fainted from shock but she's not going to die anytime soon.
ROOOOAAAAAAAAAR
A large roar snapped all of us out of our daze.
We looked down into the crater, filling with rainwater, and saw hundreds of monsters fighting massive golems made from the surrounding pavement and buildings.
"YOU!" I hear a booming voice echo across the crater.
Shit… He noticed.
tsk
[Royal Frozen Bone Crown]
A crown made of bones fossilized in ice gathered on my head and a gust of swirling gray ice froze the black pillars before shattering them into nothing.
SHING
I just bȧrėly managed to dodge a black rock formed into the shape of a curved long dagger that was aimed straight for my head.
"Hey, I just got my hair cut a few weeks ago, I don't want it any shorter now," I mutter while staring directly into the Write heads' eyes.
He flew past me like a bullet and stopped his momentum with another pillar of rocks.
Another few pillars appeared beside me, but I instantly froze them and caused them to collapse into tiny shards.
As we both stared at each other, the remaining girls around us took a few steps back.
They weren't in fear, but it was to find the right moment to link our attacks together…
Though that might be hard because I don't have much rage and neither does Mia.
"Hey… Where'd you learn to use those runes?" I ask as our eyes seemingly stared down at each other.
