Chapter 50: Blood War Part 4

“Ahhh!” Ug screamed in pain as the bone in his right hand broke when it collided with Vir’s fist. “How can this be possible? How can your hand be stronger and sturdier than mine? I trained both of my fists for almost all my life!”

Vir was already stronger than any normal hunters, and now he was wearing a Runic Items that Alfred made. It was liked a tiger that grew a pair of wings, he became fiercer, sharper, and dangerous. He reached the strength that he never reached in his entire life, the Runic Items was like an item made just for him.

“You do not have a purpose that drives you to your limit,” Vir said with a serious face. “I, on the other hand, push myself over and over again. for the purpose to protect my tribe, and to kill every single one of you. you will never surpass me, you will never understand my desire, my anger towards the Blood Tribe that drives me to pass the limit of my body, to surpass myself every single day. And now that I can finally have my revenge, I will not stop until I kill all of you!”

Vir charged with a great speed, Ug didn’t dare anymore to fight Vir head-on. He finally understood that he would never beat his opponent in strength, speed, or defense. He needed to think of something that would help him win this duel.

He observed the other fight to see if the other Leaders could help him deal with Vir, to his dismay the fight was nowhere at its end. He became more depressed, he already knew that he had no chance of defeating his enemy by a normal means. The only thing he could think of was to escape or wait for the other Leaders to finish their fight.

When this thought came to his mind, he instantly removed it, because the idea was not a very good one. He knew that escaping from Vir was almost impossible as he experienced firsthand how fast the hunter of the Phantom Tribe was. And waiting for the other Blood Leaders was a stupid idea because he would never know if they would even help him.

There was a big possibility that they would just watch him die at the hands of Vir because he would do the same if the other Leaders were in his position. As Ug dodged Vir’s fierce attack, half of his focus was still on finding a solution to his predicament, he even forgot to fight back.

Vir didn’t care if his enemy didn’t put all his focus on the fight, to him it didn’t matter. Because the only thing on his mind right now was to defeat his enemy and find out where Gunnar was. As their fight went on, some of the punches Vir threw would land on Ug’s body.

Ug would repeatedly endure it because he didn’t have any choice but to do so. However, their fight was halted by the sudden scream. It was Bear, Pug lost his ax. Thus, he decided to hug Bear with all his strength. But he couldn’t crush him with his strength alone, that was why he decided to bite his shoulder off and swallow it.

Bear couldn’t help but scream as he felt the teeth of his enemy sink into his flesh. Out of anger, he also bit Pug, but unlike him. Bear chose to bite his opponent on his neck, and the fight between the 2 became gruesome as they bit each other flesh like a wild beast.

Even the other Leader stopped their fighting when they noticed the disgusting fight between Pug and Bear. However, there was a person who didn’t let this distract him. In fact, he saw this as an opportunity to escape.

Ug quietly escape through the woods while Vir was distracted. Although he knew that his enemy would catch up to him, he didn’t have much choice as his injury was starting to pile up. If the fight continued, sooner or later he would lose and die. Therefore, he decided to gamble hoping he could escape.

When Vir finally turned around, his enemy was already gone. He didn’t get angry that his enemy escaped, instead, he calmly inspected the place for a possible clue. After a while, he determined the direction where the Bald Man escape.

He instantly dashed forward in that direction, to catch up to the escaping enemy. Soon after, he finally saw a silhouette of Ug running. After seeing this, he fastened his speed to catch up to him even faster. While running, Ug heard a noise behind him, he immediately knew what it was or who it was.

He stopped running as he knew that it was useless and he just going to drain his stamina even faster. Ug wanted to talk to his enemy, but Vir didn’t waste a single second and attacked him. He grimaced, he couldn’t even let out a single word and he was already attacked.

Ug jump back to avoid the punch, he didn’t even think of blocking the attack. Vir punch missed and land on the ground creating a spider web-like crack on the surface.

“W – wait stop attacking!” Ug immediately said. “I will answer anything you want to know!”

Vir halted his action, he became interested in his enemy’s offer.

“Then tell me, where is Gunnar?” Vir asked with a straight face.

“If you are talking about the young man I fought before, I do not know. He escapes and I did not manage to capture him! I do not know where he is, I thought he manage to get back with his ally!”

“You want me to believe that?” Vir clenched his fist. “If you are not going to tell me, then I will beat you until you do.”

“Wait! I do not really know! Even if you beat me, I will not be able to give you what you want!”

Vir ignore this and charged at his enemy. Ug didn’t have a choice but to defend himself, he covered both legs with Life Energy attempting to avoid the attack. However, Vir didn’t let him. Instead of punching, Vir went for a grab.

When Ug was about to jump back again, Vir stopped his attack and follow him, then grab his foot. Ug panicked when his opponent caught one of his feet, he tried to escape by kicking the hand that grabbed his foot with his other foot, but before he could do it.

Vir slammed him against the ground. Ug spat out a mouthful of blood, he couldn’t cover his body with Life Energy because he was caught off guard. However, Vir was still not done. He lifted his opponent again intending to repeat the same action, but this time his enemy was prepared.

He enveloped his body with Life Energy to protect himself from the incoming impact. Nonetheless, it was useless as Vir smacked him on the ground several times before stopping. Ug was coughing blood after Vir had enough.

“Now, are you going to tell me where is Gunnar?” asked Vir while still holding one foot of Ug. “If you are not ready, we can do this all day.”

“As I told you *cough* I do not know,” Ug answered while coughing blood. “Even if we stay here, I will not be able to answer you!”

Vir tighten his grip and was about to lift his enemy again.

“Wait! Wait!” Ug panickily said. “I have 1 more important piece of information for you! this information is about your tribe! But you have to promise me that you will let me go!”

“What is it?”

“You have to promise me first, I want you to vow to the Guardian Tree!”

“And why would I do that?” Vir asked with a frown.

“Because this is about the safety of your tribe!”

“What is it?!” Vir tightened his grip even further.

“Ahhh!” Ug screamed in pain. “YOU NEED TO TAKE A VOW FIRST! IF YOU WASTE ANY MORE TIME YOU MIGHT REGRET IT!”

Vir furrowed his eyebrows, he started to feel that something bad was going to happen. Even though he wanted to kill the Bald Man, he chose to not take a risk and gamble on the safety of his tribe. Thus, he Vowed to the Guardian Tree.

“I, Vir, Head Arrow of the Phantom Tribe, will take a vow to the Guardian Tree that if my enemy tells me something, I find useful, I will let him escape today and not kill him. Is that enough?! Now tell me!”

“HAHAHA! Yes! That is enough because I know this information will be very useful to you!” Ug laugh maniacally. “Do you know the name, Val?”

“HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT NAME!” Vir lost his temper when he heard the name and grab Ug on his neck. “TELL ME! WHERE IS HE?!”

“I – I c – cannot s – speak,” The Bald Man quietly replied, because he couldn’t speak while Vir was choking him.

Vir calm down a little and loosened his grip when he saw that his opponent was having a hard time talking.

“*cough* *cough*” Ug coughed several times before finally settling down. “Val is our Chieftain! I do not know what the history between the two of you is, he separated with us saying that he will attack your tribe himself while we distract you here! That is why you better go back to your tribe as fast as possible! If you do not want to go home with a tribe full of corpses! HAHAHAHA!
