Gazing out the window had become a routine at this point; not paying attention to the course anymore was one of his bad habits. He kept staring at the sky, feeling bored, but that was a welcoming stillness in his mind. That wouldn't last very long before someone intercepted. "Yo, Alum. Wanna have some lunch?" Asked a classmate of his. His name was Noel, A handsome and cheerful person with an attitude nobody could dislike. Even Alum could come to like such a person. "Sure," He replied. Since he and Noel had the same courses, they became good friends in their first year.

Moving out of the course room, the two didn't say much because Noel knew that Alum wasn't the talkative type. He, of course, likes that part of Him. While it was unusual for Alum to start the conversation, it wasn't totally out of the loop for him to do so. "Hey," Said Alum in a soft and gentle voice. "Thanks for being my friend." As he said that, Noel looked at him, surprised, and a little awkward gaze followed. "Well, aren't you a straightforward one?" Noel continued, "Well, that's what I like about you." Alum was surprised to learn that and couldn't come up with anything to say. At the same time, Noel was grinning at him. Thus the two made their way to the cafeteria.

After finishing their lunch Alum and Noel returned to the classroom. They both took a seat close to the window. As the lesson started, Alum had always wondered why Noel kept sitting beside him despite not being attentive to the classes. And a not-so-helpful seatmate. Instead of paying attention, he looked at the side profile of his friend: a well-defined jawline, excellent body structure, silver eyes, and platinum blond hair. He is pretty, but not in ways girls are; he is built but still slim. "Hey, Alum. Please focus on the professor and not me." Noel said. Not sure how to replay, he just nodded. "You know," Alum spoke while properly looking forward. Thus Noel stopped taking notes and gave Alum his attention. "I don't understand any of it..." Alum said. Noel sighed and said. "You should have paid attention from the very start then."

After the course ended, the two of them chatted until they realized that people were still in the classroom. The class should have ended, but it was rare for this many people to stay through Alum. Heck, even the professor is still here. Why is that? He thought. No, it's not that a few people stayed; in principle, everyone attending this course was still here. And then there was some commotion. People are trying to open the door to the point of kicking it. Alum looked over at Noel only to find that. He was just as confused. The room briefly turned dark as they stared at each other in confusion. Even the light through the window did not pierce through. Alum felt a sharp pain throughout his body; he was lying down on the floor, groaning with hands on his chest as if holding something very precious near him. His friend Noel, now confused, starts to panic; he doesn’t know what to do. He looked around to see if anybody was able to help. He realized everybody was on the floor in the same state as Alum. Only for him to be struck by that very same pain himself. As they’re all passed out, the room ceases to exist.

Alum opens his eyes to see the bright blue sky and a friend shaking him. “... Noel, stop shaking me, please.” He told his friend Noel in a soft voice. “Oh, awake now? Sorry about that, since you took your time to wake up….” Noel said. Alum looked around only to see the other students looking confused or in tears. Though he didn’t miss the part that they were on a green plain and that there weren’t a roof and a classroom. He looked at Noel and asked, “Did we get kidnapped? Or where are we?” Noel had a grim look on his face. “Look, don’t be too surprised. But. I don’t think this is our world.” Noel said with a straight face.

Alum Looked at him dead in the eyes and said. “... Realy now? Where’s the proof? The sky looks identical, the grass isn’t purple, and there is only one moon.” Noel stayed quiet and pointed to the horizon behind him. There Alum saw a sun that should be above them as of now, but this one seems a lot smaller in comparison. Noel then asked. “Well, how about now?” Alum said in response. “It may be Venus.” Noel sighed yet again. “No, think about it; in the middle of the day? And it's in the middle of spring. Plus, Venus isn't that big compared to this one.” After thinking about it, Alum did make sense of it, although he did not want to come to that conclusion. He had to accept that what he saw on the horizon was probably another star close to the sun of the planet they were on. “... I see. Did we get kidnapped by Aliens?” Alum asked while tilting his head to the side, only for Noel to realize that his friend can sometimes be such a shelter child. Well, he couldn’t blame Alum for his upbringing. “No, I don’t think that is the case either. Here look.” Noel came closer, and something popped out of thin air. It looked like a status card you see in a lot of games.

Alum looked at it in amazement. “Wow, Aren’t you stacked?” He told Noel. “So it’s like a game….” Alum continued while Noel looked embarrassed. Naturally, questions popped up along with the answer; he didn't know what to think at a time like this. He looked around to see that others besides Noel had their status window and went through them. Alum is sure that some were listening in on their conversation. After all, Noel is popular and reliable. They must have had him comfort them before Alum woke up. Alum lightly smiled and spoke in a soft, quiet voice no one could hear. “Seems that even in a situation like this, they are considerate not to impose on the conversation I had with Noel.”

Well, no one but Noel. “Well, they are all nice people, you know? You should get to know them better!” He responded with a big smile. Alum. Clearly embarrassed didn’t respond to his comment and shifted back to the topic. “Well, as it seems, everyone seems to have a status card,”  Noel responded with, “Yes, so it seems, and… how about yours?” Alum averted his eyes, “No, well… I'm too scared to look at it; what if it is so awful that I’ll be the first to die?” Noel looks at his friend with eyes of pity and doesn’t deny that it could happen. “Yet you sound pretty calm about it, bud.” Alum, of course, responded with, “Well, I have a reliable and overpowered-looking friend here after all.”  But Noel wasn’t having any of it. “Alum….” He said, looking straight into his eyes. “Yes….” That was the only response Alum could give.

Looking at Alum’s card, Noel couldn’t help but be amazed, “Wow, it looks good to me.” Commented Noel, Alum, who hadn’t looked at it. Saw it now too, and he and Noel looked at each other. “Well, one thing is a bit abstract,” Noel said. “Yes, I agree.” Alum followed. The two seem to have finished their discussion, So they joined the others, only to see the grieving state of the students. Alum whispers to Noel. “Seems like some of them heard what we talked about; no wonder they are in this state.” Noel only nodded and gave a severe look that Alum had seen a few times. Noel called out to the professor, who seemed to lead the students in the discussion. “Professor Emely, is there anything I can help with?” He asked in response; she told him to take care of the depressed students and try to comfort them. I raised my hand, and Professor Emily looked at me and said. “Well… You can lend Miu’s group  a helping hand in trying to find something for us to eat.” Alum nodded and headed to Miu’s group. The group noticed Alum’s arrival and gave him a light nod. “Well… I assume at least one of you can detect if anything is edible, right?” It was then Miu nodded her head. After some back and forth, we concluded that we would bring stuff that looks edible to Miu and let her have a look at it.

After the sun went down, everyone was at the campfire and eating the stuff we found, it wasn't much, but everyone seemed to be spirited again. Sparkles in their eyes, seeing how fire practically came out of nowhere. The mood has shifted to a more positive one, though, Alum. Noel and Miu are the centers of attention, and everything seems to be going smoothly. Professor Emely sat beside Alum and gazed at the two, “You have a fantastic friend, don’t you, Al” She commented. Alum nodded to her comment and gazed up at the sky. “... Well, he sure is.” Alum is sure that a lot is going on in her mind, so having reliable students like those two helped relieve some stress. Emely also gazed up and asked. “Do you think we will make it? Back home, I mean.” Alum glanced at her for a moment and looked at the starry sky again. “Honestly, I'm not sure; there are many things that we yet understand, and how we got here is one of them.” Alum gave a soft reply. “However, I think you are doing a great job guiding your students, Ms. Emy.” Emely looked at his teasing smile and responded in a low voice. “How cheeky you’ve grown to be… but thank you.”

The following morning wasn’t as calm as the night before; fear and panic erupted on the plain, and cries of dread could be heard. Alum was trying to get his beauty sleep. He woke up to such commotion only to see a giant flying creature above the group. “Surely you jest... is this for real!?" Alum screamed at the top of his lungs, not especially calming the chaos that had befallen them all. Well, I couldn't help it; Alum, though. If it’s a gigantic dragon you first see in the morning, it would be considered a normal reaction, right? Alum looked at the beast, trying to figure out its move. With his mind working overtime, he realized that it hadn’t attacked. And many students seemed to have also figured it out when Noel calmed them down. When Noel woke up, the dragons were already there and didn’t move.

There are more of them, laying down on the plain, one in the sky, and one looking down on them. (Oh... not just in the sky, huh....) Though Alum, after calming down. Everyone went silent for now and snuck a glance at the dragons. Noel has this look that even Alum hasn’t seen before. Something was coming. Or rather, someone landed. In full body armor, they were raiding a dragon that looked fierce. The figure jumped off the dragon and started to walk towards us. Noel had a sword in his hand that Alum had never seen. It had a reddish glow and sounded like something cutting at rapid speeds. Even some other students had weapons in their hands. They were looking ready to fight despite having zero experience in weaponry. The figure in armor took off its helmet.

Underneath could be described as a beautiful girl: green eyes, a well-defined face, and long brown hair. “You are to lower your weapons; thus, I shan’t draw mine.” She spoke clearly and concisely, and Noel asked her to prove it. Thus she replied, “The dragons did you no harm, right? They have been watching over you since yesterday, so monsters wouldn't harm you until my unit arrives. Does that prove that I am not here to hurt you?” Noel couldn’t deny the fact as he reluctantly agreed to tuck away his sword, and the others did the same. She then turned to Alum. “You there, lower your magic, or I will take it as a threat.” Noel realized that Alum had a scary look that turned mellow after Noel met his eyes. (Seriously, this guy….) Though Noel. “Apologies about that; it seems like I did it unconsciously….” Said Alum.

“No, it's okay; I’ve witnessed many attacks out of instinct, and it's understandable.” She looked at the group and seemed to have realized something. “Forgive my rudeness, and I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Chely Ilis. I am the Hero of the Lesich Empire. It is a pleasure to meet you all. Wanderers of another world.”
