On a bench in the central park sat a lone girl. It was a sight to behold as animals surrounded her, singing and humming alongside her. It was peaceful when the breeze caressed her cheeks; she looked towards the fountain and saw a reflection of herself. She had arrived in disguise—the same she had at the cafe with Kei earlier this day. Knitwear, glasses and a long white skirt. She had even changed her hairstyle. So there is no way people would recognize her! One of her reasons for coming to this park was because it was peaceful, and the animals here are adorable. They’re all intelligent animals that don’t harm humans and are allowed to move as they please. She felt relaxed and couldn’t help but feel drowsy. The breeze felt nice, and the leaves danced along the wind. Amethely couldn’t help but drift off to the land of dreams.

After an hour of walking around and asking the locals about directions, Alum finally made it to the park. (Wow.) The lush greenery that he had seen from the sky. Up close, it was more beautiful and vivid, and the flora was incredibly expressive. As he walked, there were small animals around the park, and Alum even got to befriend some of the small animals. Walking around, taking in the view, and enjoying the breeze wasn’t what he imagined when he first arrived in this world. Since he wanted some quiet, the stall owners told him there weren’t many people here during the day. But he could still find a family of 4 and some couples that looked like students.

After spending a little time in the park and having calmed his nerves, Alum stumbled upon a little stall in the middle of the park, and they sold candy, light snacks, and some drinks. Alum, a sweet’s lover, decided to try the ones he didn’t get to try in the market district. (I wish Noel were here.) He thought. Alum may look aloof and carefree, but he gets lonely quite easily, especially since he met Noel. The others will arrive tomorrow, and all he has to do is familiarize himself with the city. He got to learn many things today, such as the Great Library is free to use, but you need to be a member to be allowed to borrow any books from there. Additionally, he found a spot with a great view of the city.

While lost in his thoughts, Alum came across a fountain with birds playing in the water and chirping happily. He thought it would be an excellent place to stop and eat the recently purchased snacks. He saw a glimpse of a bench on the other side of the fountain and decided to head there. Only to find that it was occupied. A girl was sleeping in a sitting position surrounded by small animals. It couldn't be helped that he got captured by the scene. (Wow, how did she even end up like that) Alum thought to himself. He didn’t want to bother now that he knew the bench was occupied. He saw another one not too far away and decided to head there instead. Well… that is what he had initially thought, Alum could hear a sneeze from the girl, and she seemed cold. Alum would typically ignore it, but the small animals looked at him with pleading eyes that asked him to cover the girl that seemed soundly asleep.

Alum wasn’t only weak to sweets, but small animals as well. It would make him feel guilty if he just left; he wouldn't forgive himself. (If she wakes up and accuses me, I will get Chely to vouch for me….) Giving in to their plead, Alum lent the girl his coat and sat beside her. Unexpectedly the small animals cuddle up to Alum as they did the girl, so now he had no choice but to wait for her to wake up. (Well, this isn’t too bad….) As to convince himself. He glanced at the girl sleeping soundly beside him. He thought she looked cute from a distance, but closer up, he realized she was a very charming girl. (A beauty, huh? Long gray hair that shone silver in the sunlight. You wouldn’t see someone like her every day.) The small animals that had cuddled up to him were now sleeping soundly. Now he, too, fell soundly asleep.

Amethely usually wouldn't fall asleep during the day, even on her day off. Still, this was one of the days when stress and fatigue caught up. As the sun was still up, it was still in the afternoon. She wouldn't have to worry. It would be bad if she slept until the evening; after all, she would have to explain to the dorm manager why she was late. She wouldn’t want that. Still half-asleep, Amethely hadn’t realized she was leaning on somebody. Not until a child pointed it out. “Look, mom, look, dad, a couple just like you two!” As the parents looked her way, they had a slight surprise look, but then they giggled a little. The child and parents waved at her and continued to do what they were doing. She was embarrassed but still waved back at them. (Ohhh! My! Oh, my! This is super embarrassing!) Her face had heated up, and her heart pounded fast; she couldn’t help but want to run away.

After some time passed, and her brain had worked overtime. She had finally calmed down. She discovered that the friendly animals had convinced him to cover her with his coat and that leaning on him was all her doing. (Ahhhh. I want to dig a hole and never climb back up again!) She screamed in her head. She had been too shy to look at the stranger beside her until. But she couldn’t avoid it forever and decided to see what kind gentleman lent her the coat. And as she looked his way, their eyes met. He had golden eyes and black hair and was about one head taller than her. He had a soft expression, sleepish-looking eyes, and seemed to be a foreigner. “Oh, I guess I fell asleep too, huh?” Her heart skipped a beat as he said that, and he faintly smiled at Amethely. (W-what? What is happening to ME!? I feel so restless, and no word wants to come out.) Alum, who, of course, didn’t know what had happened inside Amethely’s head. Found her shyness awfully cute and was struck with a strange feeling in his chest. He covered his blushing face slightly with his arm as he did not know what to say. “Mom, dad. The couple from before, but what are they doing?” Could be heard from a distance, alongside some giggles.

After a while, the two had calmed down enough to face each other at the very least. Amethely glanced at Alum, and he did the same. Their eyes met, and they both felt nervous. Noticing that Amethely had crystal clear amethyst-colored eyes, he couldn’t help but feel uneasy when a pretty girl like her stared at him. (What should I do?) Alum thought and unexpectedly heard what he had just said in his mind from the girl's mouth. “Agh, what should I do!?” Amethely had expressed her thoughts out loud. And upon realizing it. The silence became more unbearable. Amethely became all red and blushed while covering her face with the coat he had lent her. Alum found it so adorable and couldn’t help but let out a relieved laugh. “Pff… haha, haha.” Amethely still felt embarrassed but decided to headbutt his arm slightly and looked up at his face with puffed cheeks. “You’re so mean, laughing at a girl's struggles!” Seeing her reaction, Alum couldn’t help but laugh even more.

AN:

Thank you for reading!

This chapter is a little shorter than the previous ones, but I hope that is okay. I plan to develop the world more in the next few chapters, such as the magic system and the classics on how to become stronger! I estimate that from here on, I want to release a chapter per week at least. Worry not. Since I want it to be worth the wait, I’ll try to make it more lengthy. And that concludes part 1 of the story, until the next AN Thanks for reading!
