Chapter 18: The Elven Princess and The Elven Kingdom

Helen's POV

Being the caretaker of princess Violet Sylphyier has been a troubling journey. I still remember the day her birth was announced, everybody was overjoyed to welcome a new member of the royal family. She was the first princess of the Elven Kingdom borne to King Lucas Sylphyier. This meant that she was the crown princess who was someday to Inherit the throne from the current Elven king if the Yggdrasil does not oppose. Her skin was as white as snow with beauty that even rivalled the queen who was said to be the most beautiful woman in the Kingdom. The Elven Kingdom is not large. It mostly comprises of about 20,000 Elves who live in the forest of elves which surrounds the world's largest tree Known as the Great Elf Tree, world tree or as we Elves like to call it Yggdrasil. The elven population compared to other races is low. This is because elves are not that fertile but thanks to this they have a longer lifespan. Yggdrasil is said to be one of the pillars of mana veins around the world. It is said Yggdrasil grew on the spot that is the resting place of the first elven king. Yggdrasil seems to have a dryad. The dryad is said to be the embodiment of The Forest's and Yggdrasil's mana. The dryad is classified as a spirit being. A spirit being is a type of Spirit which has been formed through the accumulation of mana and spirits. Spirit beings are powerful entities with powerful abilities to the point they are sometimes considered deities. They are usually sentient and can command what is known as Spirit magic. Usually, elves get to know their abilities at the age of 5 years since They have a long lifespan and thus their bodies tend to mature slower than other races. The 5 years for the crown princess seem to be full of bliss. She was happy and loved by her parents and her people. Everybody adored the young princess. This was the case until her fifth birthday. Usually, elves on their fifth birthday are presented to the Yggdrasil. The Yggdrasill then reveals their mana attribute and the amount of magic power the elf has and the named elf will be given their true name. On her Fifth birthday, everybody in the Kingdom was anticipating wondering of how powerful she would be and which attribute(s)  will the princess receive. The joy of the king and his people quickly turned to anger and sorrow. This happen when her attribute was revealed. At first, They measured her magic power and found it to be extraordinarily high about 700,000 magicules. Everybody was in awe and filled with admiration since they would have a powerful Queen in future but this admiration quickly changed after it was revealed the current princess was a Fire spirit elf. Usually, spirit elves are revered and likened to be servants of deities. They are usually thought of to be a superior species of the Elven race and therefore they are referred to as high elves. High elves are powerful since their mana is not stagnant and grows with them as they age unlike how the other elves' mana capacity remains constant after the age of five years. The other thing that makes high elves so powerful is that they can freely manipulate the nature of the attribute they possess without the need for chanting or using of spirits. This is because instead of a mana circuit they have a spirit circuit. With the help of the spirit circuit, they can also freely manipulate natural mana but because they lack a mana circuit they cannot manipulate mana internally thus they cannot perform spells even if they want to. This makes them only able to use their mana by forcefully combining their mana with natural mana if the manipulation of nature they want to do requires a lot of mana. The last thing High elves can do is summon the nature spirit of the attribute they have and borrow their power if the task they want to do is not possible for them. All this would have been great if the princess was a high elf of either the wind, water or Earth attributes since these are seen as constructive attributes, unlike Fire which is seen as a destructive attribute. The Elven race fear and hate elves who can use fire magic. This has caused fire elves to be stigmatized and discriminated against. They are usually secluded from the Elven Kingdom. Fire elves usually grow to become a little darker than other elves thus they have been grouped under a race of elves known as dark elves. Although fire elves are usually dark there are also darker Elves who are also grouped under the race "dark elves" and can use dark magic even though they are not from the demon race. The elves who can use dark magic are usually referred to as true dark elves while elves who can use fire magic are referred to as other dark elves or fire elves. Princess Violet whose true name was Iris was the first high dark elf. This brought concern to the Kingdom since the people could not condone being ruled by a dark elf. This made her father to exile her from the elven kingdom so that she could die outside the kingdom and let the Yggdrasil through the dryad choose another heir. This is because the elves had a rule that prevented them from taking each other's lives at all costs. This was their most important rule and if broken could have dire consequences. The king's decision disturbed the queen and therefore made her to do something behind his back. She ordered me to go with and take care of the princess in her exile and protect her. She then asked me to write to her about her daughter's progress and growth. She promised to send some money and food whenever she could in secret. I could see that the queen loved her child. I myself also loved the child thus I followed her in her exile. We travelled with the princess on the road for a long period of time. It took us about 6 months to travel from the capital of the Elven Kingdom to the boundary between the Elven race land and the Human race land. At first, the princess had a hard time adjusting to the life on the road but eventually, she adapted. The princess also has a hard time controlling her overflowing spirit magic thus sometimes she produces flames that burn everything to nothingness. This usually brings sorrow to her but I usually comfort her by telling her that her ability is a gift and when mastered properly could be useful in many ways. It has now been 2 years since we left the Elven Kingdom. I am on a mission searching for the princess who was stolen from me by some humans a few months ago. I travel from town to town hoping that one day I will be able to get the loveable princess back
