Chapter 19: Hina’s Reincarnation

Hina's POV

It has been a year since I lost my brother in that accident or should I say I killed my brother by that mistake. My brother's death was the ultimate spell of disaster in my life. It all came crashing down. Not only had that incident robbed me of the brother I love, but  It also had robbed me of my life's purpose. The project we were working on with him brought me more harm than good when it became a failure. The Benefactor whom my brother was proud of started showing his true colours. It seems that the loss of 50 Billion dollars was more than he could condone. He lost his patience just right after my brother's pseudo funeral (since there was no body to bury). He come a week after the funeral and requested to see the fruits of the labour for the work we had poured in. He told me he wanted data on all our work and he did not want to get no as an answer. I tried to explain that the machine blew up and the data being corrupted with the computer virus had erased all of my brother's hard work but he did not want to hear that. He said since I could not show the result I should work towards returning the 50 billion dollars by going to work in his company so that the money I owe could be returned. With this, I had to drop out of SATEG and go on to work in his company. At the current time, I was twelve. The man offered me a place to stay and three square meals per day but he also said that all this was being added as part of the debt. I worked there for 2 years before my mother come to my rescue. My mother offered to sell her neuro-technology company to save me. The man accepted and released me from that hell. It has now been one year since my mom saved me but she has fallen sick due to overwork since she had lost all her life's work and assets when she sold her company to pay off my debt. I initially thought that my mother did not love me but this just proved that my mother did indeed love me. At first, after my brother's death, my mom would always give me a cold glare. Our relationship dwindled to the point we did not know anything about each other. It seems like she was blaming me for her son's death. It was only after 2 years that my mom reconnected with me and did all she could to save me. From there on I started seeing a new side of my mom. She started being more loving. Although life had become a lot harder the gap between my mom and I was growing thinner and thinner. I felt a little bit happier with my present mom than with my past one. But this moment did not last for very long since my mom started to wake up early and come back home very late in the evening always overworking. At the moment I had been enrolled back in a normal high school so that I could continue my life. I had to catch up since I had missed a lot of middle school luckily being a "genius" came in handy and I adapted very quickly. I  decided to work part-time so that I could relieve some of the stress from the bills my mom was enduring. Every day after school I would go to work at a maid cafe. It was a job that was embarrassing to perform but the good thing was it had good pay so I had to endure it. With this, I could cover the cost of the groceries and pay some bills. Then one evening mom came back looking so exhausted than she ever had. She then just collapsed on the floor. I quickly called the emergency number for the hospital. The ambulance came and my mom was taken to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctors informed me that her body was extremely exhausted to the point that she is on the brink of death. I was filled with panic, fear and anxiety. I could not bear the thought of losing my mother. I got more part-time jobs so as to make more money to provide the medication to cure my mother. I started to skip school to go and work jobs. My friend Haruma Nagamoto started to see my tendencies and asked if everything was okay. I told her everything was okay trying to convince her all was well. The situation with my mom soon started to get better and better. Eventually, mom regained her consciousness. I was happy when I saw her opening her eyes. She looked at me and then smiled.  "live your life to the fullest and forget about the past. I ask you to forgive me if I have ever wronged you". At that time I also asked her to forgive me for the blunder of killing my brother. "It's not your fault forget about it and move on. I love you very much"  after hearing this I happily replied saying I love her back to which she smiled and then closed her eyes to continue sleeping. For the first time in my whole life, I felt like we were really mother and daughter. It was a peaceful moment and I was filled with happiness but that happiness was not meant to last since when I went to see her the following day I received the news that she had passed away. This news caused me to break down into tears. I could not stop myself from crying. I started to curse myself saying it was my fault. I knew if I had not tampered with Gene's work I would still have my mother and brother. I felt so angry with myself and so full of despair that I started having suicidal thoughts. I dropped out of school. Cancelled all my subscriptions and paid all my debts. I then went to the area where the quafradis exploded three years ago. The area was closed off since there was a lot of radiation coming from that place. I decided if I was to die I might as well die at the same place my brother did. The place was closed off with a huge electric fence. I could not allow this to stop me. I went back home and took my laptop and some hardware supplies. The night air was sinister but I did not care. Using my computer skills I override the security and forced open the main gate and played back a loop video on the camera so as not to be spotted by any guards. I then ran towards the place filled with radiation but I could not feel any effects. Suddenly my left eye which had been injured during the explosion started to hurt immensely. My head started spinning so fast that I could not handle it eventually I lost consciousness. In a dark place, I could see the figure of a girl. The girl seemed to have pointy ears and a little bit of dark skin. She had a face filled with despair. I went and asked the girl what her name was, she then told me that her name was Violet Slyphyer. She explained to me that she was an elf and was a slave of a violent human being what's more was that all her family and friends did not want her. She felt like she wanted to die and disappear. I felt sorry for her right after hearing her life story. I could not help but feel that this girl and I were having some kind of connection. I told her my story and how I also wanted to disappear. She encouraged me not to give up and try to rebuild my life and find happiness. This was quite ironic since she herself had already given up. I advised her to try and do so herself. On waking up, I felt a little bit dizzy. I was still wondering if that dream was she sort of encouragement from the universe. I stood up and tried to start walking. My head was spinning and I could not see clearly. I suddenly tripped on something but regained my vision only to see myself rolling towards the electric fence. My body Immediately felt immense pain after it came into contact with the fence. It then became very hot then  suddenly it become very cold. When I open my eyes I was in a dark cell.
