Ivy's POV
Training, training and more training that's what the life of my brothers and I are all about. Our mother is so obsessed with the throne that she wants one of her children to be the next heir no matter what. Leon my twin brother and our mother's favourite is the one who has it rough out of all of us. Although I say he has it rough in terms of training that may not be the case.
Leon is a quick study. He has garnered a lot of praise as he is seen to be very combat proficient. The whole castle says he is a prodigy. His magic abilities are off the charts. He has a mana capacity of 375,000 magicules and is a quad mage who can use all tangible elemental magic. His sword skills are also nothing to joke about. All of his trainers say he has a talent that is seen once in a century. Right now he may be 10 years but his skills are far better than many of the Elites in the Queen's Royal guard.
I say we all have training but my training is a little bit different from those my brothers go through. While my brothers are training their sword skills and magic skills, I am busy training my etiquette and social skills. My mother wants me to develop my 'womanly charms' so that I can attract a suitable suitor. Although my mother wants one of her children to Inherit the throne, she thinks that a girl would not be able to since ' girls are more feeble and weaker than boys' but that is not what I believe in. So sometimes I sneaked to peek at my brothers while they train. Although my brothers seem to hate training their bodies so much, I wish that I could join them. I know it is not what ' a noble lady' should do or wish for but I am not a normal noble lady.
I love hearing the sound of swords clashing. The feeling of your heart racing as you grip your sword-wielding it with utter passion not caring what would happen next.
The first time I had a try at a sword was when I was 8. I was just from a dance lesson when I spotted my brother practising his moves. The movements he made were so elegant and refined not so different from dancing. Then and there I fell in love with the sword. I started sneaking to my brother's swordsmanship lessons even more frequently until one day when I thought no one was looking I tried to do the dance of the swords myself. Trying to remember the lessons I had witnessed my brother doing I hurt myself with a real sword. Fortunately or unfortunately Leon happen to be passing by when he saw me. He quickly came running asking if I was alright. After healing the wound I had inflicted upon myself through healing magic he scolded me telling me to never touch a sword again. I could not contain myself anymore.
I told him how passionate I was about the sword. Seeing that I would not give up on it, he gave me a practice sword which I was to use until I learned the basics. We then created a schedule where he would teach me all about swordsmanship.
I could not believe it. My dream of becoming a swordswoman was coming true. We started from the basics building up. First I was to build up my strength and stamina since those two were crucial to swordsmanship. I had to wake up very early in the morning and ran around for about 5000 horse strides(5km) with my brother. The first time I did, I felt like my lungs would explode. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it would burst out of my chest. My eyes were so painful and my ears were all ringing. My body was so hot I thought I was on fire and my legs well my legs could not support my body so they gave out. I was to perform a thousand swings before the end of the day. What was this? This was not the beautiful dance of the swords I saw. I tried to protest to my brother but he told me If I did not do all of that he would not teach me any swordsmanship.
The thought of not learning that beautiful movement was so devastating so I had no choice but to endure. I did for a week then two. As the time passed by, the exercises were seeming less and less overwhelming. Soon enough I had already gotten used to it and it became part of my daily routine.

Next, I was to learn the basic stances I was going to use. I was to practice these basic stances until my form was perfect. I had to redo it over and over and over until eventually, I was adept at it. Soon I started to learn various techniques from my brother. He told me to choose a fighting style that fits my body and a weapon that fits my fighting style and eventually our lessons ended. We would occasionally meet to spar but I had to continue learning the sword and honing my skills on my own in secret.
I was to do etiquette lessons and build my social skills during the day and continue with my sword at night.
Now that Leon and I are ten we are leaving our smaller brother Jean, our mother Diane and our Father Christopher to go attend the Royal academy. In Bermone, it is mandatory for Children of Nobility to attend the Royal Academy before their coming of age.
The Royal Academy is a school that teaches the Nobility culture, and etiquette and is also responsible for training the contestants vying for the contest of the royals. The academy is divided into two divisions that is the Noble Division and the common division. The Noble division is where the Nobility goes while the common division is where the commoners although not mandatory go. The Noble division is further subdivided into three categories that is the Fair Nobility where my mom wants me to go, the chivalrous where future Knights and Court mages go and the Royals where anyone of Royal blood who wants to compete in the contest of royals goes to be trained.
The Fair Nobility lessons were just about etiquette socialising and basically how to be a great man or woman of Nobility but that was not for me. I had to find a way to go into the chivalrous. The chivalrous are taught swordsmanship and magic so that they could be of use to the chosen Royal Factions. For one to get into the chivalrous he or she had to be in a faction of the contestant of the Royal. I had the choice of going to the Royal division since they are also taught swordsmanship and magic but that just did not seem right to me. So I went to my brother hoping I could Join his Faction but he refused saying he could not allow his twin sister to work under him. I was about to lose hope when I heard of another Royal who did not have anybody in her faction. I went to her hoping that she would accept me into her faction and Luckily she accepted.
She was beautiful and elegant. Her eyes were sapphire coloured, her hair was long wavy and with a crimson like shade. Her lips had a rosy glossy look on them, she was utterly stunning. I could not believe how beautiful she was. One could say that she had inherited the beauty of the elves. Her name was as beautiful as she was. Rae that's what her name was.
