Chapter 32: The high dark elf in Carmine

Hina's POV

The border that separated Violet's thoughts, emotions and memories from mine seems to have completely disappeared. I now have access to completely every part of Violet and I guess she has access to mine. 

It's as if we have become one. My mannerisms have changed though not by a lot. The mystery is still why am I in the driver's seat while the actual owner of this body is not?

When we got to Carmine I was taken to M's Maggie, an elf who is a teacher of magic. Ava introduced her as her big sister. 

" Hello, what are your names."

" This is Cara, Jace, Nova and lastly lady Violet."

"Welcome all of you to Carmine Village. I will go and inform the Baron of your arrival"

With that, she was off but not before she could steal a glimpse of me. Was she one of those elves that hated dark elves? 

Ava then led us to a place that seemed to be, well I suppose our new home. The place was a little bit crowded but beggars cannot be choosers. Many of the residents wore tattered clothes, apart from that, they all looked healthy and strong.

Food seems not to be an issue in this village. Everybody was busy moving up and down many of them doing a variety of different manual labour. We walked through the place until we came across a big field of vegetation.

How did they have such a developed agricultural system? I was left in awe with how developed the place was. A farmer casually walked toward us. 

" You must be new. Yeah, I could not at first believe it myself. These here are implementations of the princess ideas. That young lady sure is smart for her age." 

Who was this princess and how did she have so much knowledge of modern farming? In all the places this body has travelled, I have never seen a place with such a well developed agricultural system. They made use of manure, fenced their crop fields, did crop rotation, used animals for ploughing of land and they seem to be practising irrigation. No wonder they have enough food to sustain all of the population.

We continued with our walk until we came across a group of children. There was a huge building behind them.

" This is the magic school where you will be attending. Maggie is currently the headteacher in this place."

" Yes I am"

Maggie said joyfully suddenly appearing out of nowhere. 

" I have just spoken to the Baron. You all will only be allowed to attend this school if you show enough magical prowess, otherwise, if you don't have what it takes then you will just have to find a new thing to be mentored on."

After that short reveal of what it takes to enter the school, we were shown in. The building was huge but it seems it was just recently brought up. We walked passed several doors before we stopped at one.

"This is where your magical power and attribute will be measured"

After saying that she opened a door to reveal a room with weird-looking gadgets. 

" Nova will you please step closer to the mana meter."

Nova then went to a machine that looked like a globe. "Put your hands on it then circulate mana around your body."

When Nova did this, a bright light shone then slowly disappeared.

" Wow this is great you have the magic power of 150000 magicules. Now on to the attribute test."

Nova moved to the next machine. The machine had a circular head with a square table-like surface. It just looked like one of those test your strength machines except at the top there was a circular head with six colours on it.

"Now Nova place your hands on the attribute table."

When she did this, two colours lit up brightly.

" It seems that you have the fire and the wind attributes. Congratulations you have passed. Welcome to Carmine's magic academy." 

Maggie said showing Nova the way out to go to Ava

" You two are next."

Maggie said enthusiastically pointing at the wolf twins after her return.

" So of you two who is going to go first."

"I will"

" Ok, Jace was it? Please repeat the steps Nova has taken."

Jace put his hands on the mana meter and it was revealed that he had 100000 magicules. 

" Wow, that's great you have got a lot of magic power. Now onto the attribute table."

When he put his hands on it two of the colours were half-lit.

What does that mean? Was it bad? Maggie as if to answer my question continued.

" Oh, I see. It seems that you have water and wind potential but sadly you can't become a mage."

Jace was now looking disappointed. 

"Don't fret, our very own Baron was in the same position as you. Maybe if you take knightly lessons you may become a great knight. But for now am sorry but you can't attend the magic academy.

Cara, you are next."

When Cara did the test she was found out to have magic power of 80,000 magicules. Her attributes were the same as Jace's the difference was hers were fully lit. She was then accepted to the magic academy.

It was now my turn.

" Violet, please place your hands on the mana meter."

When I did nothing happened.

"What!! This is peculiar. The mana meter does not seem to be capturing any magical power from you. Please try again."

Feeling immense pressure I did not know what to do. I put my hands on the mana meter and tried to imagine mana or whatever they were talking about. The mana meter was still not measuring anything. Suddenly My hands started to feel cold. They were getting colder and colder until They were frozen onto the mana meter.

" Fascinating. Truly fascinating. I think I understand the problem. You are a high elf. That's why we cannot measure your magic power with the mana meter. But why is a dark elf able to do Ice magic? Aren't dark elves usually only able to do fire magic or dark magic?"

" Oh, I can answer that. I can also perform fire magic but not as well."

" Oh, I see. Then can you defrost your hands then?"

This was the first time I was going to perform fire magic. I remembered how Violet felt whenever she performed fire magic and this made me feel afraid.

I was scared that I was going to hurt somebody with my fire magic.

"I am sorry but I don't think I can. I am afraid that my fire may go out of control and hurt someone."

"It's okay to be scared to perform fire magic. I understand how terrifying it can be so don't until you think you're ready."

" But you asked me to defrost my hand. How am I going to defrost them."

" The same way you froze them. High elves are very powerful in that they can manipulate nature itself. This means that you can easily make the Ice disappear just as easy as how you made it appear."

I then closed my eyes and imagine the Ice thawing away when I open my eyes. The Ice was completely gone.

" Since you are a high elf. You will need the help of a druid in order to measure your magic power and attributes. This is usually unnecessary when you are presented to the dryad but unfortunately, to use these machines a druid must be present. Luckily for you, I come from a family of druids.

Now touch both my hands and pass the mana from your body to mine. Release your right hand and place it onto the mana meter as I do the same. Ok, I suppose that's to be expected of a high elf. You have the magical power of 700000 magicules. No, wait it's still rising."

The mana meter then exploded.

" This is the second time this has happened. First, it was the princess now it's you."

The princess again. Who is this princess everybody is going on about?

"Well next is the attribute test. For the attribute test, I will need to tap into your spirit circuit."

" Is it going to be painful? "

"No, I just have to synchronise with your spirit circuit so that I can be able to tell your attributes. Now let's lock hands again. Concentrate on letting the mana in your body flow out through your spirit circuit."

" Ok"

" Now that your mana is out try to feel the forces of nature you are connected to."

" I can't seem to feel anything "

" Just breath in and out slowly then concentrate on what you feel."

Suddenly I started to feel a sort of powerful pull from my surrounding. On opening my eyes which were initially closed, I saw some sort of colours flow from me into Maggie. They were five different colours in total.

" Your majesty. I am sorry I didn't realise you are the princess. "

How did she come to find out that? This is getting weird. Why is Maggie suddenly calling me a princess?

" Why are you suddenly referring to me as a princess?"

" When I tapped into your spirit circuit, I got to feel the mark of the crowned that was placed on your body by the dryad. "

" Oh ok. But sorry I was exiled from my Kingdom. "

" Even so, you are still the crowned princess."

" What about my attributes. What did you learn."

" Oh forgive me I just got a little overwhelmed. You seem to have four attributes. Two of them are water and fire while the others I can't make out. It's as if they are from a newborn baby elf.

We then walked to the others.

"Ava, why didn't you tell me that Lady Violet was the crowned princess of the Elven Kingdom."

"I asked her not to. Please just continue treating me the way you have."

"I am sorry my princess but it seems that you can not attend Carmine magic academy"

" Why not? "

"We simply can't teach you much. If maybe I was a proper druid I could have taught you but unfortunately, my and my sister's druid training was interrupted when we were young. Maybe if you came to the mansion you may get help from Miss Merle a renowned genius of magic in this land. Both the princess I have met are fascinating. Princess Rae is exceptionally brilliant and powerful while Princess Violet is certainly not your average High elf. Usually, High elves can manipulate one element but with enough training you may be able to manipulate four. It was truly an honour to meet you both."
