Rae's POV
After I barely won the duel with Mr Harold, It was time for me to become an adventurer. I went to the adventurers guild to apply to become an adventurer. On opening the door to the guild, I was met by many questioning stares. The whole building went silent for a moment before a powerful voice boomed from way back of the guild.
" Hey princess what are you doing here? This ain't a playhouse for children like you. Go back to your mansion and play tea time with your friends. Only true warriors are excepted here."
Ignoring the ravings of that drunk man I walked straight towards the guild counter.
" I would like to register to become an adventurer. "
" I am sorry but I don't... "
" Let me stop you there princess."
A huge built man walking towards me cut my conversation with the guild clerk short.
" Do you think what adventurers do are all fun and games? Well, do you? If not then go home. This is not the place for a little girl like you."
" Yeah go back home princess"
" Where it's all safe and sound"
" We wouldn't want any hairs on your head to be touched"
The whole mass of people inside the building were jeering at me all trying to make me leave one way or another.
"As I was saying princess I don't think that..."
" What's going on in here? Why is there so much racket outside here"
A man of medium height and with bulging muscles walked out of a door hidden behind the other side of the counter. He had grey hair on his head so as to prove he was fairly aged but his face was handsome. Some may say that he has aged with grace.
" Sorry guild master. I was just trying to tell the princess that we cannot accommodate her request to become an adventurer. "
" And why can you not accommodate me. You haven't even tested my capabilities. Isn't it discrimination to just not allow me in because of my age, gender or size?"
" She does make a good point. I'll allow her to take the adventurers test."
" Guild master you can't be serious. She is only a nine-year-old girl."
" Even if she is? If she has the strength to pass the test then she deserves to join our ranks. The only way will know what she is worth is after she goes through the test. Stella, please prepare the testing site for her. Will know what she is really capable of in a moment."
" Yes Guild master, I'll do so."
The clerk then walked to the door on the other side of the counter.
" You better prove these people wrong or becoming an adventurer will be a fleeting dream to you."
As soon as he said those words he went back to where he came from. A few minutes later the clerk come back.
" We are ready for you Lady Rae. Please follow me to the testing site." We walked in silence as I followed her to the place she was showing me. When we walked through the door. We got into some sort of a passageway. The end of the passage revealed a huge duelling field surrounded by seats. I suppose the seats are for spectators. The whole thing was covered with a dome-like structure. What a gloriously magnificent view.
"Princess you can now choose your weapons"

The clerk said listlessly pointing to the left side of the entrance. There was an array of weapons ranging from swords to daggers to spears to maces. There were just so many weapons. I took up my twin daggers as usual. The seats surrounding us were now slowly filling up with people. It seems all of these people just came to see me fail. Well, that's what most of them thought they would get to do but I was going to prove them wrong.
"If you have chosen your weapons then take your place on the field."
On the field, it was the hugely built man who was to be my opponent. His choice of weapon was axes, one in each hand.
"I am going to show that this place is not a children's playground. Sorry in advance cause am about to bring so much pain to you that you will go back home crying to your mother. I am usually not in habit of beating little girls so I will make it as quick as possible."
Everybody was cheering him on. It was clear whom everybody in the crowd wanted to win. Among the crowd, I saw the shadowy figure of the guild master. He gestured to me to try and do my best before he vanished from my sight.
"Now that both of you have taken your places. the duel can begin. Ok, are you both ready?"
"Yeah"
"yes"
"Then begin"
The hugely built man had a sort of amateurish stance he was just full of openings. I wasn't sure if he was just underestimating my abilities or if it was just that he was that bad. Taking the advantage not caring about the reason, I activated my wind blast air magic circle that propelled me to him within seconds. With his reaction time being so slow I was able to land a kick to his stomach. Seeming confused he was writhing in pain not sure how I was able to do that.
"Whaa.. what just happened. How are you..."
Before he could finish his words I kicked his heavy axe making him lose his balance and become full of even more openings. I spared no time to hit him with a barrage of attacks, each one landing, one after the other. Was this really one of the adventurers who are supposed to defend people from those powerful monsters? Feeling that he was now just becoming my punching bag, I decided to end it. While he was still in a daze I used a wind blast air magic circle to acquire an aerial lift. While still in mid-air I curled up in a foetal position spinning round and round until I delivered a kick with that gained momentum that made him to completely lose consciousness.
"Aa... The winner is lady Rae."
"How was she able to move like that."
"Is she human?"
"Was that wind magic. How was she able to perform it without a chant."
"That girl moves so fast I couldn't see anything."
"I suppose we should have expected that. She was raised By the Baron after all."
The crowd that was just jeering at me some few seconds was now utterly left in awe. This should have felt like a victory to me but it didn't. If these adventurers are what stood against our people and those High-class monsters then we were all doomed.
I was accepted into the guild.
"Congratulations on your win. I have never seen anybody move like that. You truly are a combat prodigy just like how your dad said you are."
" Yeah, that may seem true but am not. I am still learning."
" With this, you are officially an E rank. Usually, people start at F rank but with your combat abilities that will be selling you short. You could easily be raised to B or A rank but for that, you need to actually have achievements under your name."
I went back to the mansion that day disappointed with the state of our first defence.
" Dad I think we need more allies. We cannot overcome this problem with our current forces."
" Yeah, I know what you mean.
I tried to ask other adventuring guilds but only low-class adventures came and answered our call. All the high-class adventures are not interested in offering us help."
" Wait, what if I could convince the high-class adventures to rally under our banner, then maybe we could have the forces we need to fight of these monsters. "
" No, I won't allow you to do such a thing alone not unless you have a party with you."
" What if I joined her party."
Trina said suddenly appearing out of the blue scaring the both of us.
" Well if you are with her then I will allow it."
" Thank you very much. I won't fail you."
The next morning we made every preparation we needed to go on a long journey. I was going to leave the mansion again but it was necessary. Mom was there trying to convince me to stay but I wouldn't, I couldn't barge. This mission was far too important.
After the long goodbyes, I was off with Trina.
