Chapter 52: Dungeons and Labyrinths

Rae's POV

Joining the Royal Academy is not as hard as I thought. My main mission is still to work towards getting access to the school's library so that I can find a way to resurrect Mom and Merle. The tests were easy enough. Now the real thing begins.

 

For Royals, the living situation is pretty luxurious. Everybody who passed the royal test has been assigned his or her own dorm house. For me, I got a pretty old house at the far edge of the school compound. I assume that is because the number of dorms is not enough thus I coming from a very unfamiliar family was given the oldest house among the candidates.

 

Eleanor took the test after I did so as not to raise suspicion. Mr Harold had ordered her to care for and look after me so that I don't go over the rails like I did last time. She took the test as a commoner because in her case she did not have the backing of a noble family. It was a success on her part. We were reunited when she applied to join my faction.

The dorm house I have been provided with can only house six people. Currently, I have two people in my faction that is Eleanor, and a girl named Ivy.

 

We took it upon ourselves to renovate the dusty musty dilapidated house. After putting in some elbow grease, the house was finally habitable.  Everybody took a room that best suited them. I of course took the biggest and most spacious one.

 

Even though everyone knew if they passed the test or not the day they took the test, those who passed were still to wait to be ranked. These rankings were for them to be allocated to classes that best suited their abilities. The ranking of the students took some time so it took a while before we started to learn anything.

During this time I took it upon myself to familiarise myself with the school environment. I got to know where the major buildings were like the classes, the noble dorms, and commoner dorms, where the other royal dorm houses were, the library, and the administration offices where the school administrators were. 

After familiarising myself with the school I went out to town to procure all I need for my transition to school life. I acquired all the cutlery and crockery required for the kitchen, furniture to furnish the dorm house, and seeds so that I could start my own kitchen garden outside the house. The Items I got were quite pricy but luckily I had enough funds that I had earned from my time as an adventurer.

As I strolled through the busy town acquiring all that I need I passed by an armor shop. The sight of the armors and weapons inside called out to me and reminded me that I was in need of new equipment. 

My weapons had all been damaged by my duel with Trina. Speaking of Trina, how come the other vampires haven't already found her, anyway I think she is fine. She is the strongest person I have ever met so I doubt that I was able to harm her fatally.

 

I walked into the armor shop and started browsing through the selection of armors, shields, and weapons they had. All that they had didn't seem to suit me at all. The weapons were either too big or too long or too bulky and heavy. Then right behind the counter, I saw them, dark blue twin blades that looked to be just right for me. They called out to me with their surreal beauty and impeccable design. I approached the counter and straight to his face with a jolt of enthusiasm I excitedly asked

"Excuse me, sir. How much are those blue twin blades?"

"Sorry young lady but these blades are way out of your price range."

"How do you know that? You haven't even given me the price yet."

"Okay let us see, the price of these blades is...well it is enough to buy all of the weapons in this shop."

"What!!! Why are they so expensive? "

"Well, these blades are extremely powerful and... At first, you might think that they are magic weapons and you are partially right but it goes deeper than that these blades are dungeon treasures."

"Dungeon treasures?"

"Yes, dungeon treasures. While magic weapons are powerful and fairly pricey they still can be crafted by blacksmiths, on the other hand, dungeon treasure cannot. They are basically gotten after one goes on a dungeon raid and is successful."

"If I may ask what is a dungeon?"

"Kid, do you not know what a dungeon is. Okay, let me tell you all about them. A dungeon is a mysterious underground structure thought to have been left by the ancients that usually has many levels and is known to be a spawning ground for monsters. When monsters of a level are defeated the door to the next level is revealed and the people who defeat the monsters, especially the level guardian get rewarded with dungeon treasures. Right now only two dungeons have been discovered in the kingdom. That is one underneath the royal castle and another one somewhere in the royal academy."

"So that is why dungeon treasures are that expensive. They can only be gotten through clearing of levels in a dungeon."

"Yes adding the fact that they also have the power to make a nation yield."

"And If I may ask how does one enter a dungeon."

"Sorry Kid. That right has been reserved for Royals, high nobles, and high-class adventures who are under the royal and nobles sponsorship."

"So if I get a sponsorship I will get to access the dungeon."

"Theoretically yes but I would advise against it since just clearing the first level can end a party of C and B rank adventures. And I hear the levels get harder and harder as one goes down."

"Okay, I understand. Thank you for your time. You were very helpful... Before I forget do you fix weapons?"

" Yes, we do. Do you have a weapon that needs fixing"

"Yeah, my twin daggers are in rough shape."

"May I look at them."

"Sorry I didn't carry them with me. I will bring them with me the next time I visit."

"Okay please do. I will be waiting for your return. Have a nice day Kid."

"You too."

I walked out of the Armour shop and went straight back to the royal academy. After that conversation with the armor shopkeeper, I got curious about dungeons. If weapons got from dungeons are as powerful as the shopkeeper made them out to be, I might need to get one so that I can have a weapon to use against the demon king when I take my revenge.
