Chapter 53: The irregular and More of dungeons and labyrinths

Melissa's POV

Ranking the students was a very taxing task. I had to go over the data myself analyzing, compiling, and sorting it all alone just because the other professors didn't want to help me in any way. After finishing the seemingly daunting task, I went straight to the principal of the academy the great sage to report to him the results of the tests we had carried out after. I especially wanted to talk to him about the performance of the top student Rae Velmont and the weird symbol on her mana capacity test.

" Good Morning great sage"

" Good morning Melissa. How are you fairing."

" I am fairing on well. I just finished compiling the report of the test rankings and I am here to deliver it."

"That's good. Please give me the details straight away I would like to discuss them with you right away."

"Okay mmm...The turn-up for the test was high this year. The number of students who registered for the evaluation was six hundred students. Out of the six hundred, four hundred and eighteen participated in the combat evaluation, and out of the four hundred and eighteen, only three hundred and ten passed. Of the three hundred and ten, forty were Nobles while the rest were commoners..."

" Okay that's not bad, please continue."

"In the magic division, there were two hundred and ten participants. Out of the two hundred and ten only forty passed. Of the forty only thirty-five were Nobles..."

"That was to be expected I suppose."

"Thirty Nobles took part In the royal evaluation and out of the thirty only five qualified."

"So Melissa, who was our top student this year, especially in the magic area."

"It is a girl named Rae Velmont "

"A girl that's new. It has been ages since a girl occupied the top spot."

" Yes sir, it has. If I remember correctly the last girl to occupy the top spot was your daughter."

"Ah yes, my priced pupil and beloved daughter. The most eccentric person I have ever laid my eyes on. The magic prodigy Merle. It has been a long time since I spoke to her. I miss her every day. Okay back to the topic

Were their notable feats during the test?"

"About that, I am in need of your help?"

" What do you need my help with?"

"The top student Rae..."

"What about her?"

"mmm... How do I put this?... Ok, this is how her test went down."

"Okay am listening"

"She was the first one to complete the combat duel."

"Okay, so she is also good in combat"

"Good is an understatement!!!"

"Okay, okay calm down. Tell me why you think so."

"Where should I start... The girl easily overpowered Mr. Edward at his full power."

"Ohhh..."

"During her aptitude test we measured for all the tangible elements and she can manipulate all of them... During her mana capacity test, the machine drew a strange symbol that looks like this. What does that even mean"(pointing at a drawn symbol on her notebook)

"Did the machine really display that symbol?"

"Yes."

"What manner of beast is she? That symbol... that symbol simply means her mana capacity was undetermined. Which means her mana capacity was too high for the machine to determine."

"Okay, She still has more surprises. Like the fact she can do magic without any vocalization..."

"Wait, what did you just say?"

"I said she could perform chantless magic."

(Whispering) "Is she one of them? if she is, then if the kingdom's top nobles find out, it will be a cause for a civil war like a hundred years ago when we found out about them."

"Great sage are you okay?"

"Ooh, yeah, I am. Anything else"

" She also tested positive when she took the royal evaluation."

"She is also a royal okay... (whispering) could she have inherited it?... Melissa"

" Yes, sir I would like to meet this Rae."

" I will arrange a meeting right away."

Rae's POV

I was getting used to the dorm house I had been provided with. I went the extra mile of making it as modern as possible. This was by making sure that there was tapped water, a sort of heating element in the house, and improving waste disposal. I got to say the plumbing technology was far beyond its time even the waste disposal mechanisms. Tapped water was there but the water was only gotten at the watering point. This was a point at the back of the house near the outdoor bathroom. The outdoor bathroom was not bad but it gave me the idea of creating an open-air bath since I love soaking in hot baths. The process would have been hard if I did not have earth and water magic but luckily, I do. Making the open-air bath was pretty simple. I created a simple seventy-centimeter deep pool and placed some bedrock underneath. I then created a spell that drew water from underground. My fire magic was still acting up, so creating the hot bath water was becoming a little bit of a problem. The water from the underground channel was warm but not hot enough for a hot spring.

Eleanor walked up to me asking

" Is there anything I can help you with my queen? I can sense your frustration, I would like to ease it in any way I can."

Eleanor was one of the most caring people I have ever met. My vampiric bond with her always seems to convey my emotions to her in that she can easily pick them up. When she felt I was in any distress she was there ready to help me in any way. What a loving girl she was.

"I wish you could. The only way you can is if you are able to do fire magic."

" I am sorry my queen, I wish I was but unfortunately I... I can't use any other type of magic."

The sound of her voice showed how very disappointed she was.

" Yeah, don't worry I will find another way, and please stop calling me your queen. We have known each other for a long time, plus you are older than me."

" But I can't my queen because you are my queen."

"What about going back to how you were referring to me before the duel."

" Ahhh...Okay, my lady."

"That's much better anyway don't worry for now will use science, since magic is not working."

" Sai-ya-ns?"

"Yeah, science. For now, we can use the waste from the restroom to produce something called biogas by passing it through a biodigester. This biodigester will intercept the waste before it reaches the underground disposal tunnels and release it to the tunnels when it is full"

"Ahh, Ok as you wish my lady."

We got to work after. After a while, I had a biodigester that would give me the biogas I need to heat the rocks that will warm the open bath and to cook. It would also be used to provide warmth during winter.

My makeshift hot spring was ready for use. After a long day of work, I got in to relieve my exhaustion. Eleanor and Ivy joined me. It was hard to relax with them around flaunting their naked bodies, especially with how voluptuous their bodies were. I know to them I look like a girl but I was still a boy inside. I couldn't help but stare at their very large breasts. I soon got out so as not to feel the embarrassment. I hadn't noticed before but mine had also grown to be quite large. It looks like it's time I learned about lingerie shopping.

When school started I didn't even get to step into a class I was immediately summoned by the principal.

"Come in, come in. Good morning miss Velmont."

"Good morning sir. May I inquire why I have been summoned."

" Take a seat first."

" Miss Velmont, How old are you if I may ask."

"I am twelve years old."

"Oh so young, yet how skilled and magnificent you are."

"Okay, Thanks I suppose but am still learning I am still not as skilled as I want to be."

"Ah, quite ambitious you are. Anyway, I don't want to keep here for long so let's cut to the chase. I would like to request you to share your knowledge with the school."

"What knowledge exactly."

"Knowledge of silent casting of course."

" And why should I, I together with my teacher struggled very hard in the crafting of our own magic language."

"As of now am sure you are aware but if you are not let me tell you, there is a war brewing."

"So you want to use my knowledge for militaristic gain. I will not be an accessory to your violence."

" You don't understand right now our country is under siege. The demon world is looking towards invading us. You should know this since you live close to the border."

" I know it alright. My mother and teacher both died in an attack by the demon world."

" Then all the more reason to share your knowledge so as to save lives."

" Save lives? Save lives! Where were you people when my home was attacked not once but twice? My father asked for help severally but no one from the capital dared to respond to his cries for help and as a result. I lost my two favourite people in the world. I lost my mom crystal and my best friend and teacher Merle. "

" Did you say, Merle?"

"Yes. Do you know her?"

" My... Mer-.. "

" Sir are you okay."

" Ah...yes. Sorry about that. Anyway am sorry to hear that you lost such close people to you. So as not to let this happen again please share your knowledge."

" I want a trade."

" A trade?"

" Yes, a trade. I will share the knowledge in exchange for unrestricted access to the library. I would also like to have the assistance of someone well versed in the knowledge of the library."

"But..."

" That's my offer. Take it or leave it."

"Give me some time to think."

"Okay, take your time. Come back to me when you have an answer."

I walked out of the office and straight went to my homeroom.  When I arrived, everyone had already introduced themselves. I was the only one left. I introduced myself and went and sat on the nearest empty seat. Our homeroom teacher was the woman who had administered the exams. Her Name was Melissa Halrsehide I think. I scanned the class to find any familiar face to me only to find there was none.

Lunch soon arrived and we broke off to go and eat. When I arrived at the dining hall I was met with quite a surprise. There was a divided class system in that commoners could only eat at one end of the dining hall while nobility would eat on the other, those of royal statuses had a table reserved for them. The rest of the royal factions had quite the lavish tables with quite the number of members but as for me, it was a very small table. Ivy and Eleanor were there waiting for me. As I walked there I could sense the same gaze that has been on me the whole day. The gaze of people filled with fear and hate. I could hear people speaking of me in an ill manner. I paid it no heed and went to the people who I considered my friends with my meal. I ate and enjoyed the time I spent with them. After the lunch break was Over I was summoned to The principal's office again. 

" I have done some consulting and I have decided to accept your offer. Oh, and for your library assistant, I have found one. She is called Pico. She is still a student but has an amazing amount of knowledge. So you will become a part-time professor and teach the knowledge."

"Yes, I will."

"Good. I will be expecting much from you."

"Hi pico, I am Rae. let's have a wonderful time together."

We walked with Pico to the library so I could get to see her skills better.

"Pico, If I may ask Have you ever learned about resurrection."

"No, not really, If there is anything about resurrection then it would be in the forbidden section of the library. Sorry but why are asking for this"

" I recently lost someone very dear to me and I would like to see if it is possible to bring them back."

"Oh, sorry for your loss... I have an idea but it might not be a good one."

" Just tell me."

"Maybe if you raid a dungeon you may be lucky and get a dungeon treasure that has the power to resurrect the dead"

" Wait dungeon treasures can do that. I thought dungeon treasures were only weapons."

"Wellllll not exactly. Dungeon Treasures come in all different shapes and sizes. They are powerful objects that contain unknown power."

"Even if there is a dungeon treasure that can resurrect the dead. The chances of getting it are pretty low."

"What about clearing a labyrinth?"

"A Labyrinth."

"What is a labyrinth?"

" Well, No one truly knows what exactly it is but it is said that it is a whole new world. Dungeons are thought to be gateways to the labyrinths. Legends say if one is able to clear a labyrinth they will get one any wish to be granted."

"So if I clear a labyrinth I can wish for my loved ones to be resurrected."

"I am not sure, It is only a legend."

"Even so, if there is a sliver of truth then It is worth trying. So if I Clear a dungeon I will get entry to a labyrinth. Then that's what I will do"
