Chapter 58: The Queen of the dark elves

Hina's POV

It has been a few days since we arrived. The dark elves have been quite the gracious hosts. So far I have enjoyed every second of my stay here. Even though the dark elves were accepting of me, they were a little wary of Helen. It took my all to convince them that she doesn't share in the hatred that other elves do. Over the passage of time, the suspicions directed at her slowly died down.

One of the elders from our first meeting with the council of dark elves has given me a couple of visits.

 He comes over every now and then to check if I am doing good. He seems like a nice guy. 

Sintra has tried to show me around the village as much as she could and I have gotten to see many different dark elves. The dark elves have various types of dark magic. I had never seen dark magic until now. The dark magic they cast varied from future sight to necromancy to Miasma manipulation. They did so many incredible and scary things that I could not fathom.

Then one day the elder that made it his habit to visit me and whose name I came to find out was Rauski requested to see the magic I am capable of performing.

I was eager to show him my water and Ice magic. He looked very impressed and even praised my skill and control with the magic when he saw it. He then asked for the impossible. He wanted me to perform fire magic. As soon as he mentioned the word fire magic, a cold sweat travelled down my spine. The fear was not entirely my own. I could deeply feel it surface from within me like it had been ingrained in my very being. The thoughts of how dangerous fire magic was and how it could easily engulf and destroy the all village started to flood my mind.

Mr Rauski seemed to have noticed and tried to calm me down.

"Child, Do you fear and hate your fire magic."

"Ahh...I..."

"I can see it on your face. The moment I mentioned the words fire magic, you turned pale."

"I am just fearful because of how destructive fire magic is."

"Aha! So you do fear your fire magic."

"Yes, I do."

"To you, fire magic is like a raging monster that only takes and never gives, is that right?"

"Yeah...Well, that is what it exactly does. I have only destroyed things with my fire magic. I have only hurt people with it. Never Have I ever helped anyone with it. I just wish that I had never been born with it in the first place. It only knows how to destroy, never anything else."

"Wow, you really hate your fire magic that much? You don't know what a gift you have..."

"A gift? This is not a gift it is a curse. It caused me to be exiled from my kingdom. It made my own father hate me. I lost my place in my home because of it. I am a wanderer because of it..."

The words that were coming out of my mouth were now not my own, they were violets I could feel her pain and anguish as she spoke the words, I could feel the tears forming up in my eyes. I could feel the agony and torment that fire magic had brought her.

"I see now. It has brought you so much pain so you hate it with all your might. I understand what you are going through but fire magic is not only pure destruction. It is much more than that if you doubt me let me ask you, What do you use to cook your meals."

"Fire"

"Yes, fire. What do you use to warm yourself during cold Winters?"

"Fire."

"Yes, and its applications go beyond that. Fire is used as a source of light when the sun, moon and stars cannot be relied upon. it is used in forges by blacksmiths so as to create swords, armour and so much more. So you see even fire can be constructive. If you don't know then let me tell you all life including yours and mine depends on fire for its energy. Our bodies cannot function properly without fire. So to you, I say you are blessed to be able to control such a vital element of nature. You should not be afraid. The fear is what turns it into the monster you think it to be but if you embrace it then fire can prove to be the most vital element in your magic arsenal. So do  you think you can try to do some fire magic or are you still afraid?"

"I... I can try."

"That's the spirit."

I tried to envision the form of a fire so as to manipulate it. What was fire? Fire was the flames that were made up of a mass of burning gases. So as to get those flames I had to put the air around me on fire. I tried feeling the air molecules around me, once I could feel them I tried igniting them. No matter how many times I tried I could not put them on fire.

Then suddenly it happened. I accessed the third element which was Air. I tried so much to create any fire but it was all for nought. The only magic that come out was a series of wind magic.

"Let us just leave it there, you are still not ready to access your fire magic. It is good that we have found out that you can also use wind magic. Once your body becomes ready you will be able to access your fire magic easily. But first, you need to accept it."

"Okay."

"Tomorrow we will present you before the Almighty Qliphoth. If you are able to use any of dark magic, we will know tomorrow. I will leave you for now. See you tomorrow "

After that, he left. Is the process of presenting me the same as the one with Yggdrasil? If so then I will be receiving another true name tomorrow. What is going to happen next when they find out if I have dark magic or not? Well, I don't have any answers to these questions I just have to wait for the events to play out tomorrow.

When morning came I was woken up by Sintra who came and dressed me in a sort of presentation outfit. We then walked to the tree where the Darach was waiting for me. The whole council of dark elves was there waiting to see if I had dark magic. Helen was also there with me.

"Miss Violet please step in front of the Great Qliphoth and place your hands on it."

I did so and then a Nymph appeared. She then touched the place I had the Symbol of royalty from the dryad and another symbol was added on top of that. She then went to the Darach and told him something before vanishing.

Immediately the Darach knelt referring to me as his Queen. The Elders followed suit. What was happening? 

"May I know what is happening?"

"The Great Nymph the avatar of the Qliphoth as proclaimed you to be the one. The Queen that will be one of whom will unify all realms."

"I don't understand?"

"Don't worry Child, You soon will."

"Darach may we know if she has dark magic and if she does which is it."

He then touched the symbol which had just appeared.

"The queen's Dark magic is quite presently there. It is not like anything I have ever seen before. It is ever-changing and ever-evolving. It is truly a magnificent type of dark magic. I believe with enough practice she will be able to do any type of dark magic."

Immediately when his hands left mine, a ring of fire started to form around me. What was going on?

"What is happening to my Princess! You what have you..."

"Darach what is happening to Our New Queen."

"I don't fully understand but I believe this is one of her gifts. This is one of Queen Iris's gifts"

"Helen!!! Help!!! I don't know what is happening? Why are these flames engulfing me?"

Soon I could no longer see anyone else. The flames had encapsulated my whole field of vision. I could no longer see or hear anything else apart from the flames that had enclosed me. The temperatures were rising rapidly. I was sweating profusely like had never before. The flames slowly started to die down to reveal a hellish landscape. 

The sky was red as it could be. Ash filled the smoky air. The heat emanating from the surrounding was unbearable. The land was filled with a lot of volcanos overflowing with molten lava. The creature that I saw at a far distance were all covered with red skin. There was a huge city at an even further distance. Where had I descended to? Before I could move a step, the encapsulating flame surrounded me again and I was back at the Qliphoth.
