Chapter 6: Starting life with a genius

Crystal's POV

It has been a whole day of havoc. First, the adventures who were supposed to protect us until we reached the forest are assassins who were hired by Princess Diane to kill me and the child.

In my attempts to escape the adventures, I headed straight for the forest of monsters where hell was waiting for me. My leg was still hurting even after I used recovery magic known as heal on it. I suppose I used too much magic power so as to save his royal highness Prince Ray Wemberly from the deadly wounds he had afflicted onto himself from fighting those adventures. After healing him I looked at his peaceful face. He was indeed a beautiful child. I just kept wondering why anyone wouldn't want to have such an amazing child as his or her own. I then decided to take the prince as my own since I myself could not conceive even though I was one of the best midwives in the Bermone Kingdom. This was the irony of my life. I then made a vow to take care of and protect the prince with my life if necessary. Although the Prince fought hard to save me and himself, he had broken some of his bones. This was to be expected since he was still a day old. As we progressed through the forest the mana kept becoming more dense and dense. Soon my mana reserves were back to their full capacity. I  healed myself and then stopped to set up camp because that area seemed not to have any monsters and the sun was already going down. Right now I was starving since I had not eaten anything since escaping from the adventures. I assumed that the prince would be hungry too and will wake up at any time, so I had to find food for the both of us. Luckily I spotted a berry bush. I was cautious about taking the berries from the bush since they could be poisonous. I picked one berry from the bush then took a bite of it then using recovery magic known as poison identify I tried to identify if there was any poison in the fruit. I  found out that there was none.

I then picked some berries and made a makeshift bowl from the pieces of bark laying around. I crushed them to extract their juice and filled it into the makeshift cup I made. I then ate the remaining berries to my fill. The prince was now awake. I fed him the berry juice I had extracted.

I was now really tired and feeling drowsy. I tried my best to remain awake but I found myself falling asleep. The next thing that happened was I was woken up by a lot of weird sounds. When I opened my eyes there were monsters all around me although some looked like they have been injured. There were three black Spirit wolves who were all injured and 1 Silver king spirit wolf who was unharmed. Looking at the Prince I swore to protect was injured. I cursed myself for being so weak and giving in to sleep instead of protecting him. I quickly took the Prince and began to run. Although I was running, I was not fast enough. The Wolves that were chasing us were right behind us. They were not giving us a chance to escape. I was almost ready to give up since it looked like the wolves were going to catch me and devour me and the Prince but the appearance of an unknown stranger brought hope to me. He took out the wolves in an instant. He was so fast that I could not even see what he was doing. The Silver King Spirit Wolf stopped chasing me after seeing his subordinates being massacred. It turned its attention to the stranger as if declaring it wants revenge for its subordinates. It then pounces on the stranger. The next thing the stranger did, I am not sure all I know is that the wolves are now all dead. I could not help it feel so amazed by that strange. I then quickly thanked the stranger for saving my life. I then request for the stranger to help us.

Gene's POV

When I woke up it was almost nighttime. The sky was already getting dark. The sun was setting and the moon was rising. Nighttime was finally here. The woman who was with me was the only person who stuck with me. I decided to refer to her as mom since she was the only person who acted like a mother to me. Mom fed me some liquid that tasted a lot like grape juice from earth.

This was helpful since I was so hungry. She was looking tired and worn out. After a few minutes, she fell asleep. I decided to ask Liza if there were any people around. She then responded by saying that there were no people around although she could sense some hostile intent. I then asked Liza to cover my whole body with electron energy the moment the thing producing hostile intent was close enough. After some few minutes, three black medium-sized wolves and one grey gigantic sized wolf appeared.

I did not know what to do. I was not sure even if I was able to defeat them. I was tempted to run away and leave mom but I could not just leave the only good person I had met so far. I decided to do all I could to fight and protect her. I then asked Liza to fill my feet and hands with electron energy. I jumped on one of the wolves' tail I then asked Liza to cover my all body with electron energy. The wolf seemed to be insulated by its fur so it did not get electrocuted. The repulsion of the air around did not seem to be a hindrance to it. After a while, the wolf seemed to be weakened. It was then catapulted towards the other two black wolves. This seemed to injure them but was not enough. I was now at my limit the electron energy was dispersed in my whole body. It seems that I was now really going to die. Mom suddenly picked me up. The noise must have woken her up.

Although Mom seemed to do her best it was still not enough to escape the jaws of death.

Suddenly a strange-looking man appeared. He chopped off the heads of the three black wolves in an instant. He then turned to the Grey looking wolf and sliced up severally so many times that the wolf was no longer recognizable.
