Chapter 61: The Invasion of Bermone

Norn's POV

It has been five years since the demon king found me. I cannot remember anything past five years ago. All I know is that I am grateful for finding a home here in the demon realm and even getting a seat as one of the Demon Generals.

Right now I have been put in charge of an infiltration mission. Seeing as Carmine is a hard route to use in invading Bermone, we decided to use a new approach. This is by using the Stokes Kingdom's Borders.  I don't know how but the Demon King was able to get passage through The Stokes Kingdom for us. I always assumed that the Stokes Kingdom hate our Kind with a lot of passion. So for the leaders to even consider assisting as with this invasion is a big surprise. Maybe they see this as an opportunity to become the stronger Human Kingdom. But it is very Hypocritical for them to work with the enemies of the gods they worship just to gain supremacy over their enemy the kingdom Bermone. 

Humans are really something else.

For now, I am responsible for the logistics of the mission. 

The plan is simple and will occur in three stages. The first stage of the mission is an invasion by using the Borders of Stokes. We will send our spies to locate the closest most developed city and infiltrate it. The spies are mainly doppelgangers or other known as shape shifters. They will assume the forms of humans and gain the necessary knowledge of things like the number of soldiers we will be battling, the position of the food stores and armouries so that we can raid them, the state of communication with the capital so that we can easily cut there call for reinforcements. And even learn things like trade routes all those things. This is by them taking on the part of travelling merchants.

After the spies have learnt the necessary information they will send it back so that we can act on it. This brings me to the second stage of the plan which is raids. We will send out a message to the spies to perform raids on different places like food stores and armouries under the pretends of being local Thieves. This will be done very quickly and swiftly before the Lord of the area realizes. The stolen goods will be sent back to us and will act as the sustains necessary for the war. This will be like killing two birds with one stone in that we get food and weapons for our army while at the same time crippling the economy of the City together with making it defenceless.

When the town is weak enough is now when we put the third stage into motion. This is where we bring out the part of the main army I am responsible of for the takeover. We will cut off any escape routes previously learnt by our Spies and isolate the city. Once the city is isolated, we will use it as our base of operations for taking over the other wealthy cities around the area slowly crippling the economy of the kingdom. By the time the Queen gets to know about the infiltration. We would have enough resources for a clash with our main armies.

Although I am a Demon general I will not be taking part in any of the battles. Logistics is the thing I am good at. If Grey was not on probation he is the one who would have overseen the mission entirely but since he is indisposed of as of right now I have to oversee it myself.

It is not that I am not good in battle, it is just that once I start fighting I slowly lose all sense of self and end up not knowing what has happened. I am not sure what usually happens since I always have no memory of what I have done thus I keep to the logistics of the missions.

This was made apparent one day when I was given the chance to be a team leader in a monster subduing quest. When the quest started the plan was clear and everybody knew their part. Everything was going well but then the fighting started and was slowly rising to its peak, I am still not sure what happened, all I know is that by the end of the battle all the monsters we were fighting were dead but so were my comrades. I have no recollection whatsoever concerning what took place during the battle. At first, I ignored it and continued going on quests but soon I started to see a trend of everything dying and I alone remaining as the only survivor. After the third time, I gave up on going quests as I figured out maybe it is my dark magic abilities that are the ones causing this. I am still not sure what my dark magic abilities are but I might have unconsciously used them in the battles and thus killed everything in sight.

Since then I have tried to work as a strategist without necessarily taking part in any battle. I soon found myself as one of the demon generals. I am thankful that the demon king was so kind as to overlook my misfortunes and mistakes and give me a seat by his side. All I want is to bring his plans to fruition. He is a kind soul that cares for his people and I have seen that first hand. I still remember when I woke up with no memories feeling so alone and scared and without a home but when he found me he gave me a new life, filled with the warmth of people I now consider family. This is the least I can do as repayment.

Three cities have already fallen to our simple strategy, right now we are working towards conquering the fourth one. With this, I will be able to make his plan of giving his people a new home a success. All I want to do now is serve his Grace to my uttermost ability. No task is too big for me so if this war is what will give my people and my king a new home then Bermone you will have to fall for my country and my king to rise.
