Chapter 80: Merle

Merle's POV

It has been a few weeks since I escaped the custody of the demons. I am now trapped in the demon world. Apparently, I cannot pass through the black mist borders since I don't have a demonic signature.

This wall of black mist is a really interesting thing. Nobody truly knows when and where it came from.  If possible I would like to study it but for now, I should work towards getting back home. 

I have to say dark magic is a very interesting type of magic. It is so diverse and has a very wide spectrum. I would love to have learnt about it but I can't afford to I need to get back home.

So far I have had help from a loyal servant of the demon general Grey. Well, that doesn't change that it was him who put me there in the first place. But at least he was kind to me even if I was a prisoner of war

Now how am I going to get out of here? Apparently I was only able to enter the demon realm because of the shackles they put me in. Those are no good now since they could be used to track me.

Those shackles were quite the inventions. They could even nullify my contact with the spirits in that I could not use any magic at all even when my mana was full. I would have loved to go with them so that I can study them but they would have relayed my location so that was a no-go.

I was afraid of doing this but I have no choice. Looks like the only way out of here is by using spacial magic. This is going to take all of my mana hope I won't require my magic wherever I land.

Okay, why is this gate not opening up... Finally, but why does it look like that. This is not looking like the gate I am used to. Hope the beacon it is connected to is not so far away and filled with danger.

"Ms Merle, you are already leaving us."

"Yeah, I thank you for getting me out of that prison. Now let me go home."

"But..."

" Tell your master will meet again."

Once I entered the gate a new feeling of encapsulating darkness overwhelmed me. 

This is feeling completely foreign to me. Is this gate really ok?... How do I get out of here?

Then a beam of red light pervaded the darkness and immediately I was inside a throne room of some sorts

"Mmmmm. A human. This is new."

"Ah excuse..."

"How dare you talk while you are standing and without permission. Don't you see you are in the presence of her majesty?"

"Let it be."

"...As you wish your majesty."

"Human, what brings you here?"

"Nothing. I don't know where here is?"

"Then why were you in the sea of shadows?"

"Sea of shadows?"

"Yeah. I sensed your presence in the sea of shadows."

"That sounds interesting, so I was in the sea of shadows."

"I just told you that. So give me your reason for why you were in the sea of shadows."

"I don't know? I was just trying to connect my gate to the nearest beacon so that I can use it to get home."

"Beacon? Gate?"

"Yeah, using a beacon I can use spacial magic to travel over long distances in a short period of time."

"Oh, just like using the sea of shadows. So how does this beacon work?"

"That is easy. The process usually takes place in two steps. First is to link and connect and second is to open and assimilate."

"So did you link to the sea of shadows without dark magic? 

" Looks that way"

"A dark SORCERER?"

"Yes."

"But I thought sorcerers are extremely gifted humans chosen by fairies. "

"Well... Let's just say I am an evolved version of a fairy and you are quite gifted so making you into one is no issue."

What should I do? Should I really accept the offer of this unknown person? If I do then what does that mean for me. Power is not always a good thing and I have my purple magic stone to prove it.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was a young girl gifted in magic always curious about everything and looking to try new things.

My experiments had no bounds and this led to the ultimate demise of my mother, brother and sister.

My family perished in a magical accident that I had caused. Since that day I worked towards creating a limiting magic circuit that was to limit the amount of power I have access to. Using my dead family's remains and a magic stone I was able to create a key that would unleash my full power when I was ready to use them. The stone was to remind me that magic can be equally dangerous as it can be amazing.

I met a gifted bo- girl that was so intriguing and equally with a curious mind like mine. I was afraid that one day her powers will also take her loved ones from her so I worked tirelessly to build her control over her magical capabilities and teach her restraint so that her magic doesn't take her loved ones from her. She was quite the genius evolving everything I taught. Never have I ever met someone that was on the same wavelength. So this was quite the pleasant experience. While my father tried, we were not that close especially after what I did to our family members.

Initially, I thought all I felt for her was purely admiration but it looks like I have also developed feelings of love for her. I wish to be by her side always. 

"Okay, so what have you decided?"

"I...I am torn between not taking it and taking it. Okay, suppose I take the powers what is the catch?"

"Catch?"

"Yeah, these kinds of deals always have a catch."

"Well, it is not much of a catch than it is a requirement."

"Requirement? What requirement?"

"To activate your sorcerer abilities you will have to become one of my anchor's loyal servants."

"Loyal servant? This is definitely a catch. So who is this Anchor I am supposed to pledge my allegiance to?"

"Her name is Rae and..."

"Did you say, Rae?"

"Yes Rae, I have chosen her as my anchor."

"Then I willingly accept, I will become a dark sorcerer under the rule of Rae."

"That was fast, Okay then I grant you the seed of a dark sorcerer. With this you have the potential to become one of the most powerful humans in existence but activate it you must be one of Rae's faithful servants... I assume you know her?"

"Yes, I do."

"Then when you return to your world find her and form a pact with her. Once this is done, you will immediately get access to your dark abilities. Okay begone"

Immediately the view of a forest come into focus. Looks like I am in the forest of monsters. Let me find my way to Carmine village.
