Chapter 81: Outside with a Dragon

Rae's POV

We were out of the dungeon but looks like we are still not out of danger. What stood in front of us was a massive lizard with terrifyingly huge wings. This must be one of the true dragons. Its scales were all different colours. It had red, blue, green, silver and black scales.

"Humans? No, not completely. Demons? No. Maybe both?... So you are the first visitors to come in ages... I have been dormant for centuries enjoying a peaceful slumber never woken up by anything but when I felt your presence here it woke me up. You must be a very powerful group. Oh, I see now you are dungeon conquers. You must be the pinnacle of strength of your people. Never have I ever met people of the material realm able to even pass the first level of any dungeon. Let alone have power enough to wake me up... So are you here to challenge the labyrinth."

" Not yet but eventually..."

" If you are here to challenge the labyrinth I would first like a duel with your strongest member."

This is not looking good. The dragon wants a duel? As in one on one? I did not have the strength to defeat a drake alone so how am I going to fight and defeat this dragon?

I think the best cause of action will be to create a gate and travel back to the shadow plane where I will ask the queen to place me back at the school. I should really learn how to use sea of shadows all on my own I can't keep relying on her every time.

When I started creating the magic circles necessary for the gate a bright shining light out of nowhere completely engulfed my field of vision blinding me.

Did I get injured? I don't think I did. As the intensity of the light reduced the vision of cities all in flames come up. Then I saw myself crying from afar. It looked like I was the only one who had survived the attack. When I got closer I could feel myself reliving the experience of the other me. If only I had duelled the dragon. Then all of this would never have happened.

Immediately I was brought back to where the dragon was.

"So are you going to duel me...You are the strongest of the three of you."

I know what I have to do now so that I don't lose anybody else to that future.

"I would love to but your massive frame will hardly make this a fair duel."

"You are worried about my size? What if I was your size. Would you duel me then?"

"Yes if you were my size then I would love to duel you."

"Then you have got yourself a deal...I am so excited that I have gotten a powerful opponent to test my strength on."

Immediately the massive dragon shrunk and...it became human?

"You can take the form of a human!"

"Yes, I can. True dragons have a skill that allows them to assume the shape of any race they want. But be warned just because my shape has changed doesn't mean that my abilities have. I am still a chromatic dragon."

A chromatic dragon? So that is what she is.

"Now arm yourself, I won't be holding back."

Immediately she leapt at me with such speeds and force that she destroyed the whole ground behind her. She was throwing a lot of powerful punches but unfortunately for her, I could see them all. Her punches were powerful but they were not pulled off with skill, precision or experience. I think she is not used to fighting with her human body so this is a little bit hard for her. It also helps that all my abilities have been boosted by a very significant amount. I saw multiple openings and immediately attacked her but when I made contact with her body my bones felt like they were shattering into tiny pieces. She wasn't kidding. She still has her impenetrable skin. 

Her anatomy is a total mystery to me. I would love to study how this is possible but for now to defeat her.

"Looks like this is not working, I am now going to go back to my strengths."

Immediately she released a wave of mana. I think she deployed her mana field.

The environment started to get hostile. Eleanor and Cilia were both on the ground.

"This is a duel. We are not supposed to harm the others."

"Don't worry, they have only lost consciousness because of how potent the mana here is. No harm will come to them that I promise."

Immediately after those words Eleanor and Cilia disappeared.

"Where have you taken them?"

"They are in the material realm. We are the ones who have moved to the ethereal realm." 

"Ethereal realm?"

"Yeah Ethereal realm. It is what makes up dungeons and labyrinths. It exists in tandem with the material plane. It is also believed to be the central axis to all other realms."

"Okay then let us continue with our duel."

The next few seconds that followed after was blow after blow. The literal environment was beating me to a pulp. Looks like I no longer have the advantage I thought I did.

The dark amethyst ring I had on started to glow. It then slowly changed its colour from a dark purple to a bright yellow bordering a reddish-orange

The pain that had encapsulated my body was slowly disappearing with the change in its colour.

Okay, so that is its ability. That is pretty convenient.

Without even realising it I had cast a light magic spell. The dragon writhed in pain when the spell hit her. The ring regained its usual dark amethyst colour. So is that its full ability? Okay, that is very interesting.

"So you are one of them... I yield. May I know your name?"

"You yield ok...I am Rae."

" Well Rae, I am without a name but My people call me the chromatic Princess."

"Okay, it's a pleasure meeting you chromatic princess."

"Rae I am just going to ask it upfront. Will you become my new master?"

"Master?... What brought this on?"

"Well, you are one of them..."

"One of who?"

"One of the celestials."

"I am not one of them. I just happen to have their genes. I am actually working towards dethroning them."

"Even more reason. For us, chromatic dragons it's all the same. We are bound to find a celestial master."

"Is that why you yielded the victory to me."

"That is part of the reason."

"Well, I don't know..."

"I believe I will be a powerful addition to your group."

"Yes I cannot argue with that but still."

"If you don't someone else will...And... I wouldn't want my power to be used for tyrannical purposes."

"How do you know I won't use you for tyranny."

"I am not sure if you will in the future but for now my heart has judged you as good."

"Okay, if you are good with me then what are we supposed to do."

"All you need to do is give me my true name and for I to pledge my allegiance to yours."

"Is that all?"

"Yes."

"That was easy. So with this, you are now part of my servants Riley"

"Thank you, master."

Now to head back to the royal academy
