*sigh~

Ronald sigh deeply while eating the food in front of him, it was a fish with soup and bread. He didn’t know if it was because of the food or because of his taste buds but it tastes horrible.

Not like he had ever eaten something delicious when he was cruising in the east sea. Years as a monster dulled his senses of taste.

“Alright... Since you don’t want to leave me alone, let me ask you…. will people buy the skeletal remains of a sea beasts? And if so, How much?”

As he said that, he put aside the book that the old man gave to him that is supposed to will help him remember things.

“Uhmm my lord… please look at the book, it contains the records of-“

“Answer me first”

In the end, the old man relented and answered…

“It depends on the monster, simply put, people buy the skeletal remains of a monster as a trophy so the more dangerous a monster is, the more value it has. For example, the razorback serpent that we saw. It’s one of the most dangerous creatures one can encounter in the sea, if one can kill one, it can be sold for 60,000 kels. Even its head alone can be sold to 10,000 kels. Of course, that price includes everything in the monster, not just its bones. Still, you could sell its skull for 4,000 kels alone. That’s about 6 months’ salary of an ordinary family, then there is….”

Ronald listened with interest… at the same time, he realized he needed to buy a book about monsters and their names. He had returned to civilization so it wasn’t right anymore to refer to them as food.

Then Ronald suddenly leaned in and said in a whisper…

“Listen, old man… the truth is, I found the skeletal remains of powerful sea monster, I hid it before coming here… do you think you could help me sell it?? I’ll pay you some commission.”

Vance was surprised by what he said, he wanted to say something else but decided to continue the conversation…

"My lord… Do you have the bones of a monster? What monster is it?" Vance was slowly growing accustomed to his lord's pace that he didn't bother asking how he found it.

“I don’t know what monster it is, but it’s definitely not ordinary”

Ronald almost wanted to say ‘I don’t know, depends on what I will eat tonight’

“Then, where is it, my lord?”

“Don’t call me my lord, anyway I’ll tell you tomorrow, think you could help me out?? I’ll pay you a fee”

Ronald was doing this cause of three reasons…

First, he could earn money, whatever world it is, money makes the world go round. He even planned to buy a big house and invite people to party.

Second, He wanted to brag and show off to the people, of course, he could always reveal his true identity but that will be overkill, and even if he did, he planned to take it slow.

And lastly, related to the second one, once he showed off to the people, he planned to make some connections and even…. The thing he missed the most…. Making friends!

As for why he didn't just straight up say he killed the monster or found a newly dead one, well, for obvious reasons, finding the skeletal remains of a beast seemed much easier to explain.

Vance sighed and agreed. Then after that, Vance told him about the history of the Haileye family, where he learned, His supposed ‘uncle’ Regan is the only direct relative he had left. Right now, people from distant bloodlines rose to power after his supposed parents died.

The Haileye family ancestor was part of the crew of an adventuring ship that later founded this land naming it Whiteline Island and together, they built this kingdom in the year 289 of the new age era, which was 112 years ago.

The kingdom was a newborn compared to the other kingdoms on the mainland.

Learning about the history of the Haileye family and the kingdom, Ronald listened with interest.

Soon came nighttime…

“Old man, While I may be more open now more than before, I would really not like my first time to be with an old, wrinkled, and clingy man.”

Ronald said to Vance who was by the door as he tried to close it.

After a day of learning about the world and meeting new people, Ronald came back to the tavern and rented a room to stay in.

“My lord… You may not remember me anymore, or anyone close to you, but I watch you grow and I made a vow to your parents to look after you. I failed once, Now the gods have given me a second chance, I won’t fail again”

Ronald sigh deeply, he didn’t expect that on his first night walking on land again, he gets to hear such affectionate words, it’s a pity it came from a wrinkled old man instead of a beauty.

“I’m not him”

Thud!

After closing the door and locking it, he started outside, the city was huge and he couldn’t see the ends of it. Lights all over the place illuminated the area like stars on land.

A fulfilling smile appeared on his face as he lay down on the worn-out bed and closed his eyes.

Soon he felt the connection he had with this body weakened.

In the depths beneath the island, something awakened...
