To the depths of Whiteline island, beneath the raging waves, something shook the dark sea floor.

Immediately, all creatures as if sensing something, left the area as the seabed  shook.

Soon… a massively long, thick, tentacle-like limb of unknown proportion slowly raised itself from the seabed. One can only imagine how colossal its main body is by the thickness of its limb.

Then the tentacle-like limb, stretched itself out beneath the open sea, stretching itself and reaching a distance unfathomable by any being.

However, the longer it stretched the thinner it was.

Soon, it was already nearly twenty kilometers long and its thickness shrink to one that isn’t inconceivable anymore. After that, it buried itself on the seabed slightly and let the tip of the limb out in the open.

Then the limb, wriggled as if it wanted to vomit out something, and from the tip of the limb, something came out. It was a gem-like object giving off a soft glow lighting up the dark sea.

This was a special treasure it had obtained in the past that can attract sea monsters like crazy.

And like a harmless seaweed, the limb let itself be swayed by the current.

Soon, its first prey appeared…

A sea monster, with a long neck and crocodile-like body, swam rapidly to the gem as if it was possessed.

Just as it was about to swallow the gem whole, it suddenly stopped and shrieked underwater, its entire body convulsed, it felts its innards electrocuted and soon it floated numbly and died.

Then the small hair-like tentacle that pierced through its body, dragged it underneath the seabed where it was absorbed and consumed by the humongous limb, not even leaving its bones behind.

The water around it was suddenly sucked by the limb and filtered the blood on it to prevent any prey from noticing something weird.

After that…

Ronald waited for another prey…

'He’s sleeping like a log... Just a boy with no worldly experiences... This will be easy'

At some point, someone appeared beside Ronald's avatar.

It was a man in all-black clothing. He grabbed a dagger on his back and was about to stab the heart of the man in front of him when he noticed something weird.

'Huh?'

He move his fingers by his target’s nose as he tried to feel his breathing but..

'Someone got here before me??'

He didn’t expect to find his target no longer breathing.

The man observed his surroundings and after finding no traces of the one who killed him...

He decided to take credit for it.

He aligned the tip of the dagger in the heart of the target and plunged it down!

"!!"

But shocked filled his face as his eyes widened, the dagger didn't manage to penetrate the man's skin at all.

"What the...."

He couldn't help but matter.

"You done?"

A nonchalant and casual voice suddenly came from the 'dead body'.

The man, horror filling his face when he noticed the pair of eyes that were closed, now was looking at him, with an amused glint.

The man's body moved on its own as it tried to slice his target’s neck but...

A thud was only heard as the dagger wasn't able to slice the target’s skin.

Seeing the abnormality, he promptly decided to retreat, however….

Ronald grabbed the assassin's wrist…. and that was it.

This avatar that he used was made from his flesh which means no ordinary weapons can harm it.

"So... Who sent you??"

Ronald sat up while still holding the man's wrist, the man has now lost his composure as he kept stabbing Ronald’s arm but it was useless...

"What are youuu??!"

He shriek and screamed in terror.

Ronald was about to say something when...

"My lord!! Who is that?! Are you okay!?"

Thud thud thud!

'Oh, it seems the old man put up someone to protect me which was unnecessary'.

Seeing as the man was about to enter, Ronald then punched the assassin on the head with strength, knocking him out instantly.

The door burst open and a man holding a small flintlock pistol and a cutlass sword burst in.

"!! Assassin!!"

"You didn't have to be so loud...."

Ronald mumbled... At the same time, he wondered who sent the assassin after him.

The thought of solving a case excited him before it pop and realized the case was probably easy to solve.

So far, the only other important person he met today, aside from Old man Vance was that young man who saw his appearance.

According to old man Vance, most of the Haileye family right now are littered with people from a distant bloodline. To them, seeing a person that is supposed to be the direct heir of the previous head, rises from the dead, naturally, they will be threatened.

But the question isn’t who sent the killer, but what evidence does he have that the young man sent an assassin to kill him?

As long as there is no evidence, the young man from before could continue to send assassins after him.

Whatever, he was going to think about these tomorrow. To retain his humanity, he still kept the habit of a human so the night was his resting time and the day was his hunting time.

It’s just a small matter anyway.

Of course, now that he was a powerful creature, he could still catch prey while sleeping.

"My lord are you okay?? Lord Vance has told me you could move into the manor-"

"Nah I'm okay, just interrogate the man and I’m gonna go back to sleep"

Ronald waved at his guards as they hesitantly left the room.

Soon, Ronald lay down on the bed and closed his eyes to 'rest'.
