Chapter 42: Chapter 41

From the purple explosion, Nolin confidently stepped out. Seemingly he was uninjured, and his sword had a very slight purple glow.

 

"Interesting."

 

Shouted Black moments after Nolin and kicked off and rushed towards him. Black laughed and brought his sword above his head which started glowing. By that time, Nolin was almost able to reach him, and his sword's purple glow had scattered. However, Nolin suddenly propelled himself backwards and smiled.

 

"Just who are you?! You are the first to be able to..."

 

"I might look young, but I have been in more fights, battles and wars than you; you vaguely underestimate me, which will be the cause of your downfall... Not that it bothers me!"

 

Shouted Nolin, and a powerful green aura started flowing from his body and covered him. Nolin slightly pulled his blade back and dashed at Black, who at that moment slightly stepped back, and swung his sword down. The two fighter's swords collided causing another explosion, but this time it was much more prominent, and at the end, Nolin was slightly pushed into the ground.

 

"What's the matter? I am taking it a bit more seriously yet you seem to be struggling quite a bit already!"

 

Declared Black moments before they clashed once again, and much to his surprise, after the second clash he was pushed back. Black quickly increased his speed and with great strength swung his sword at his opponent. Nolin jumped over the incoming horizontal slash and thrust his sword at Black's head. Although Black was caught off guard, he managed to push the blade away using his left hand; slightly damaging his armour, and almost instantly kicked Nolin in the chest. Causing Nolin to slide back; he pushed his sword deep into the ground and used it to slow down. After finally stopping, Nolin coughed blood and blocked an incoming slash from Black. 

 

"You are a great fighter, that I must admit. But you are still powerless!"

 

Declared Black as he pushed Nolin back once again, and rushed after him instantly. Nolin, on the other hand, didn't try to slow down, instead, his aura drastically increased and for a split second, it became slightly yellow. With new determination on Nolin's face, he once again clashed with Black. He clashed again and again constantly increasing their pace, while Nolin was constantly pushed back. 

 

"I am getting tired of this!"

 

Shouted Black, and after clashing with Nolin once again, kicked him once again, but this time, he grabbed his hair and slammed him into the ground and was about pierce Nolin's head with his blade, but Nolin managed to deflect his weapon. With a swift movement, Nolin kicked Black's shoulder and grabbed his wrist. And as fast as he could, he slammed him into the ground and rolled away.

 

"Your desperate struggle will get you nowhere!"

 

Declared Black moments after he jumped up, and then pointed his weapon at Nolin. However his blade sudden

cracked and after noticing it, Black started laughing.

 

"It seems His Majesty has ascended to godhood! I must end this fight as soon as possible to congratulate him"

 

"Great. Another self-proclaimed god!"

"How dare you!"

 

Shouted Black and with incredible speed dashed at Nolin. Seeing it Nolin slightly bent his knees and concentrated, and when Black reached him, he unleased a devastating slash, but to no avail. Black was easily able to blast him back with his cut. Nolin managed to stay deflect Black's blade, but in the attempt, from the force of Black cleave, his hand was damaged.

 

"It seems you were still holding back quite a bit!"

 

Said Nolin as he stared at Black.

 

"I guess I too have to get stronger to survive! I knew I would have to be reckless, but I have to admit, I underestimated you!"

 

"You underestimated me? You knew I was stronger than you, yet you were this stupid?! I don't know what His Majesty saw in you!"

 

Declared Black as he raised his cracked crystal sword above his head.

 

"Yes... That I regret now... I always used to be a bit unique... And of course... RECKLESS!"

 

Shouted Nolin and the ground started shaking. From every direction, green mist started poring in and travelled towards Nolin. The mist soon turned into a denser and faster form; almost like a powerful wind wrapping around Nolin. The green energy entered Nolin's body and then, almost instantly Nolin dashed at the shocked Black, who barely managed to block Nolin's attack in time.

 

"I understand now! What you said is really true... You truly are reckless! You have just forcefully collected a great deal of magical power from within the barrier! However, it doesn't mean you have the means to defeat me. I still have an army of soldiers!"

 

Shouted Black and pushed Nolin away. When Nolin stopped at that exact same moment he stopped absorbing magical power and his nose started bleeding, and then he released a much more powerful aura from his body, which mostly covered his sword. Meanwhile, Black raised his blade and then in the distance, a wide-range purple glow appeared, and Black started burning with purple fire. But unlike the soldiers before, he was not being hurt by the flame; it was more like an aura around him.

 

"Let's finish this!"

 

Shouted Black and was about to kick off, but Nolin acted first, and at an incredible speed flung towards Black. Black blocked Nolin's incoming attack and instantly pushed him back, but Nolin instantly dashed back at an even greater speed. As Nolin increased his speed Black also increased his speed and strength, and after the sixth attack, Black managed to land a crucial hit on Nolin's arm, almost cutting his right arm off. Nolin quickly retreated and gritted his teeth, and grabbed his sword with his other hand.

 

Nolin quickly propelled himself back at Black, whose weapon cracked once again, and the barrier also received some cracks, but after the two of them collided once again, the barrier shattered along with Black's sword. Instead of being able to see the sky, they found themselves in a void of darkness. Black and Nolin were blasted away from one another, and the blast was so powerful that the sword fly out of Nolin's hand; even Black's armour was slightly dented. Moments after the blast they found themselves falling from the sky.

 

"What the... Ever since his sword broke his power started gradually diminishing... I wonder... Will my body hold out till he weakens enough for me to damage him, or will my body collapse?"
