nd Charlie’s had their eyes widened at the amount.

“Yeah.”

He then unhooked the pouch, held it upside down, and wiggled it, revealing its emptiness.

Recovering from his shock, Tucker got the message. However, he didn’t trust the show. Instead, through a command, had Charlie sweep his Psi Scan over Ralf’s body.

At the invasion of privacy, Ralf stood nonchalantly, waiting for the other to finish.

Several seconds later, Charlie’s Psi pulled back.

[There’s really nothing on him boss.]

[I see.]

Tucker interlocked his fingers together. “7 gold coins, that’s quite a sum of money,” he began rubbing his hands as he spoke, “you can’t just store it anywhere.”

“I agree. I took precautions.”

“Precautions?”

“I became an Adventurer earlier today. I decided to store my money at the Ganurg branch.”

‘Dammit, that’s the one place we can’t break into.’ As daring as Tucker was, he wouldn’t seek trouble with anything related to the Pillar faction. ‘This kid’s careful, I’ll give him that.’

“The four gold has been paid, and the deal has been settled. Do you have any other questions for me? I wish to return to my mother’s side.”

“Hold your horses, kid. We have plenty to talk about.”

Ralf’s brow quirked at the Red Star boss’ words. Not just the contents, but the delivery, it was much lighter, kinder even. Just as he was surprised, so too was Charlie.

“Ralf, join the Red Star.”

Again, Ralf’s expression flickered.

The offer came completely out of left-field, at least to him. To Tucker though, it was natural. His desire for money was great. He wanted to leave Zudrad, and to do so, he would need money, a lot of it. Ralf’s swiftness in earning money had caused his eyes to shine with greed. In his eyes, he was no different than a cash cow. He didn’t totally agree with Jeremy’s assessment, but he could tell that the youth before him was a touch abnormal.

‘He’ll be useful…much more useful than those sacks of shit lounging downstairs.’

Interestingly, had Ralf paid the four gold coins near the end of the deadline, Tucker would not have thought too highly of him, and would just send him on his way after accepting the payment. The duo’s swiftness had ended up backfiring, a conclusion they were just reaching now.

“The Red Star would do well with your talents. This place welcomes young men like you with open arms. The problem with Turner is water under the bridge. He was already punished harshly for the incident,” Tucker gestured to his bald subordinate, “Charlie here did the honours, right Charlie…”

Charlie simply nodded.

“So, what’s your answer, Ralf Fawkes?"

Ralf didn’t rush to answer.

[[Rei…I’m going to reject. Any objection?]]

[[Nope.]]

Rei’s answer couldn’t come faster. His hatred of gangs no doubt played its part, but that wasn’t all.

Accepting the offer would essentially be winning the battle but losing the war. Understanding this, Ralf delivered his answer.

“I appreciate the offer...but I’ll have to decline.”
