Deep within an endless abyss a being sat, legs crossed and eyes closed, as he meditated in this space. Feeling a stirring within his domain, he cracked an eye open to peer into the abyss.
A malefic purple light flashed as his eye opened. A chuckle rang out in the unnatural darkness.
“Why so hostile?” A man appeared in front of his. He seemed to be a well kept, athletic middle aged man, shirtless to show off his toned, overly pale body. He had long black hair tied back behind his head in a ponytail, and the only clothing on his body were a pair of bright yellow pants with dozens of petals of various flowers decorating its surface; even his feet were bare.
The man in the abyss just eyed the man dismissively. “Why are you here, Pans?”
The other man smiled, moving playfully up on him and lowered his voice conspiratorially. “I’m bored,” He said simply, as if that summed it all up.
“I’m bored!” The man yelled, his voice causing the space the quake at the power behind his projection. “I saw you descend to talk to a mortal. His soul is fresh. He doesn’t belong here. Usually when we receive…visitors, you remove them. Immediately. Why did you let this one live?”
Alexei contemplated lying to the other man, but decided not to. He had stuck besides him for millennia, and would probably be with him for many more, until their plans were finished.
“He is another possibility.” Silence met this response, as the other man grew thoughtful.
“Are you planning on expanding the pantheon? Another ‘High god’. Or will his ascension be artificial?”
“I am not even sure he can reach those heights, sadly. He lacks something. And I can not help him. Too much interference would be detrimental. He needs to grow on his own, have his own strength. A nudge here, a reward there, but only so much. If he dies, even with the assistance of Gods, then he was never worth investing in. He needs to struggle and develop his own path, not one I lay out for him.”
“I guess you’re right. I coddle my cute little followers to much,” Peta Pans said, making cute gestures while referring to his followers. Alexei just snorted and closed his eye again.

The two of them continued to talk for a few hours until the Peta Pans announced that he was about to depart.
“Not just yet, Pans,” a third voice rang out. Both of Alexei’s eyes shot open as he glowered in the direction of the voice.
“What could you possibly want, Midnight. I’ve forbidden you from my domain since that last stunt you pulled.”
“I’m not in your domain, this is just a voice transmission. And also, I’m a researcher. You can’t blame me for my curiosity or my experiments. You’re the one who wanted me to be a part of this.”
“What do you want,” Alexei repeated, enunciated each word harshly.
“Two things. I’d like you to know I have a lead on both a Golden Dragon, and I’ve found an Angel.”
Both beings in the abyss tensed at that. Alexei ran his tongue across his teeth, each razor sharp and glistening. Peta Pans eyed him uneasily, as the domain of infinite darkness began to smell sharply of rot and blood. “We’ll be right there.”
Alexei vanished without warning, the darkness leaving with him, leaving Pans standing alone in a stone cavern deep below the earth.
“People judge me for being the god of Filth, yet they worship him as if he were any better. Mortals.” His voice echoing, even after his body had vanished from the space.
