Thursday, August 11
Li-Hua and Kuo stood outside the Hong Kong Internal Airport. They stood outside the B15 holding a print in each of their hands waiting patiently outside the gate a day before the Hungry Ghost Festival is to take place.
Passengers pass by laughing and carry on as they come out bumping into Li-Hua without apologizing. She stomped her foot on the slick tiled floor nearly tripping in anger. Kua steadied Li-Hua.
"Bunch of assholes here!" She argued.
She crumbled the paper. The crinkling was almost audible as it fell from her fingers making its way to the floor. More people pile out of the gate lugging book bags and small suitcases behind them.
A very tall, thin man dressed in a black cloak slammed into Kuo. He quickly hid his features while walking into the emptying plane only to be pushed out by the attendant who only grinned happily at him showing him the way out.
"I could have sworn I heard someone still on the plane." He smiled.
Kuo watched quietly listening in on the conversation. He realized the person they were waiting for had not yet left the plane, a simple tug brought him back to reality.
"Kuo?" She asked.
He stayed silent. The staff went back inside to shortly bring out a boy with short blonde hair completely pale about to collapse when Li-Hua shocked ran to assist.
"Why didn't you tell anyone?" A female attendant laughed.
They helped him sit on the cold bench. He bent his head back fanning himself with the booklet he was carrying in his hand. Li-Hua took the only bag that he had brought along.
"Where did that guy go?" Kuo questioned.
One of the women gawk around to find he had suddenly vanished leaving them wondering if he really existed in the first place. Li-Hua got on her phone to call a taxi.
The strong scent of rotting flesh could be momentarily smelt within the vicinity. A sudden upheaval of voices started a chain reaction, a clamor of shouts could be heard. Kuo strolled around observing people bowing over to throw up.
He could have sworn slender fingers crawled on his shoulders. A sharp turn to find Li-Hua and the newbie was standing there nervously.
"Kuo? Are you okay?"
Examining the surroundings one more time she sighed to himself. Everyone was suddenly normal. He was confused looking at Li-Hua smiling back at him.
A detectable beeping is heard in his left ear. He held it a few seconds thinking it was like the ringing that is normally heard and seen as healthy. Kuo's left eye projected a blue translucent text.
[Assistant System Activated]
"Assistant what?..." Kuo whispered.
A blue fire blazed in front of Atlus. His eyes were bright white even his irises, his hair peppered blonde, white, and fringes of cyan blue staring back at him with intensity.
[Spectral System activated, new master detected]
"KUO!" Li-Hua shouted.
He fell onto his side before missing the airport bench and falling on his backside. All of the information that had popped up vanished leaving him peeking up at a very angry Li-Hua.
"Li-Hua! I am so sorry!" He said bluntly.
"Were leaving your ass whether you like it or not." She yelled.
"Wait! I said I am sorry!"
"Atlus is having jet lag, we can't deal with your airhead ass!" She argued.
Kuo gave one last look before following Li-Hua and Atlus to the car parked outside that most likely had been stalling for at least thirty minutes. The driver gave a mischievous watching Li-Hua, catching his ugly smirk.
"I am in leggings you pervert!" She howled angrily.
She thrust her legs up to punt the man in the head with her six inched heels. He dodged as he pushed the door open to parry her attack smashing her heel. He held his phone in front of her face while she rammed her fist into his jaw.

He awkwardly tilted backward. Atlus and Kuo had a blank expressions on their face as she gave chase running back into the airport terminal and going after the eccentric cabby.
"Are you feeling better now?" Kuo asked.
"Yeah…I have never flown before." Atlus responded.
Kuo felt a burning in his left eye even more heightened from merely only speaking to Atlus. He was instantly quiet when not spoken to gawking at the concrete sidewalk.
[Impending danger assistant]
"Impending what?!" Kuo said softly.
Puzzled by what was coming he only blinked his eyes. It was gone again, he rubbed his eyes through blurred vision hoping what he had seen was an illusion or play on his sight.
"I forgot your name, but are you okay?" He snickered.
"Right, don't worry about me," Kuo responded timidly.
Atlus began to stroll around. Kuo decided to walk back inside to find Li-Hua, his mind was spinning about how strange the day has already been.
Someone was tugging his hand causing him to gaze upwards. The man dressed in a dark coat had appeared in front of him this time. Both of his ears burst with ringing and bleeps, new screens popped all at once before quickly being extinguished.
"Kuo?" Atlus inquired.
"It's you…sorry about that. I thought I saw someone." Kuo laughed.
"I am actually hungry will Li-Hua be back soon?" Atlus questioned.
"I sure hope so."
A feeling of despair slithered into his throat. The knot made it hard to swallow his own saliva. He knew something was special about Atlus, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
In a short time, his life had turned upside with no clues only that something was coming beyond the horizon for him. Observing Atlus shuffle back outside made him ponder what this glow was, this aura emanating from his own being.
The sounds of a car coming to a screeching halt were heard. He raced out the door soon as he could to find Atlus's eyes glimmering an abnormal shine as his hands pressed into the trunk of a car.
The passenger was stunned. Atlus's chest heaved in and out, standing motionless. His concentration was all focused on stopping the vehicle. A small boy lay on the ground in a fetal position with his hands on the top of his head.
Quickly snapping out of it he could barely comprehend what had just happened himself pulling away speechless in his own endeavor.
"Atlus!" Kuo shouted.
[Spectral System Activated, child saved--spectral system ended]
He faced Kuo in shock. His hands dropped to his side in bewilderment. The two had nothing much to say to each other at the end of it all. Kuo heard the voice activate and fade announcing what Atlus had done.
The small audience who viewed the wreck only was awestruck when the caped man came as he swung his elongated mantle outwards dramatically with a huge grin on his face.
"Come, we have lots to talk about."
The child ran off screaming before the man could do anything. He frowned in disappointment but noticed there was another in the car white as a sheet their jaw agape in horror.
He waved his arms left and right. Up and down with a swift flow. In Slow-motion each gesture gained another appendage under the next that replicated like mirrors reflecting into another encompassing his perception. The person dizzily fell under the hypnotic gaze.
Gradually leaning their head against the steering wheel they peacefully lull themselves to sleep.
"Now that is taken care of you must remember this occurrence well!" He explained.
"Just who are you?" Atlus questioned.
"You are important and that is all you need to know"
