As he led us to the mess hall Turner looked around at all the women who glanced his way. The more people he looked at the greater his mannerisms became. It seemed to me as if he was trying to impress all the women of the castle which we were apparently in. all I could think was that he had confidence in his abilities.

When we got there no one else was there as I had expected but Hera the teenager seemed disappointed. Maybe the hall reminded her of her life back on earth.

Servants dressed in military-ish garb walked up to us and laid platters of roast duck and pork on the table. There were also different types of vegetables and fruits on whole separate platters. They then laid silver plates in front of us.

The plates were made of silver, so I thought that these people hadn’t discovered the toxicity of lead and silver when it comes to using it in food yet. I raise my hand and spoke:

“Um, what are these plates made out of?”

“Putter,” he responds (is that how you spell it?)

“Putter is toxic could we have some ceramic plates?” asks Hera.

They look at us with a confused look on their faces but the servants give us different plates and silverware. As we all grab the food we want to eat from the plates Hera speaks up.

“So, what are your earths like? Izian talked about this one as we walked here but I don’t know anything about you guys.”

“Well what year was it when you left?” asks turner.

          “2022,” responds Hera.

          “2055,” I say after her.

“The year was 2019 when I left,” said turner answering his question.

“What country did you guys live in? I’ll say mine, the United State of North America. We’re a fascist country in the continent of north America,” I explained and asked.

Hera looks at me horrified and asks:

“How did the USA get to be fascist?”

“The USA hasn’t been around since 1865,” I responded.

Turner looked at us both and asked:

          “What’s the USA?”

Hera and I looked at him as if he were an alien.

“The country I come from is called the constitutional monarchy of America,” he says with a straight face, “so I take it that Hera lived in this USA you both know.”

We both nod at the same time.
