Chapter 5: Training and Confession?!?!

The next day,

Darell went to the training yard and began his daily training schedule.

When he finished his training, he heard a new notification.

[DING]

[Special Quest  - Increase all basic stats by 20 points]

[Reward - 100 XP]

Darell was confused when he saw the bizarre quest.

'System, why did I receive this quest?'

[You will receive some special quests on special occasions from time to time]

'Umm... why do I feel like this is some kind of training manual type of system?'

[Indeed, the system is operating in training mode]

'Wait, do you mean I haven't unlocked the whole system?'

[Yes, but remember host, You should not be greedy for power. Always remember why you desire this kind of power]

Darell was pushed into deep thought upon the hearing system's advice.

'I want this power so I can protect my family and friends when they are in a dire state.'

He clenched his fists and began his training again.

For two weeks, Darell kept training. All the servants were in awe at his dedication and composure. Even Ralph and Isabella watched his training and proudly nodded their head.

But, Lilith watched his training and couldn't help but feel Darell was training even harder than usual. She clenched her fists and decided to work even harder than her big brother.

Darell was in the middle of his training when he heard a notification sound and stopped. He had a big grin on his face.

[DING]

[Special Quest - Completed]

[Reward - 100 XP]

[CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE LEVELLED UP!]

Darell checked his stats.

'Stats'

Darell clenched his fists. He could feel a new surge of power flowing through his body. 

'I should pay a visit to the Forest Of Fyn. I still have two weeks for the test at Varona Royal Academy.'

He finished his training and went to his room to take a bath.

The day went by as usual.

At midnight, Darell quietly slipped out of the mansion. He hid in the carriage waiting outside the mansion's gates.

As he hid in one corner of the carriage, he heard a rustling sound coming from behind him. He was spooked and his face turned pale. He jumped ahead and turned back holding his sword towards the animal.

"W-Who's there?" Darell asked.

Darell carefully stepped forward to see the animal. The carriage had no light coming inside. So, he couldn't see the animal's face. He took out a beast core that illuminated the carriage. He saw a barrel that was moving. He knew the beast must have hidden inside the barrel.

He carefully opened the barrel but he was shocked when he found the person hiding in the barrel.

"Lilith?!? What the hell are you doing here?" Darell scolded her and helped her out from the barrel.

Lilith pouted " I can ask the same question to you brother. You should be in your room right now."

Darell scratched his head and sighed in defeat.

"You win. I was going to the Forest Of Fyn to train. What about you?"

Lilith puffed her chest and held her head high and spoke " I was also going to the forest to train. I created new skills and wanted to test them in the forest."

Darell nodded his head. 

" Well, It's better if we both team up to prevent any unwanted incidents."

Lilith nodded and they both chatted for a while. When they reached their destination, Darell took Lilith to register as a Metal Ranked adventurer at the Thunderthorn Guild.

While she was filling out the form, he looked at the quest board. There were many quests. But one quest caught his interest.

[Quest - Kill an Ice Serpent rank 02 beast]

[Reward -  2 Ice ability rank 02 spells]

Darell grinned at this quest. 

'Lilith will gain an advantage over the other students if she learned rank 02 spells.' he thought inwardly.

He grabbed the quest form and presented it to the receptionist. She stamped the quest form and gave it back to him.

Lilith received her token and they hid in another carriage heading towards the forest.

After a couple of hours, they reached the outer area of the forest.

"Let's start by hunting rank 01 beasts," Darell said.

Lilith nodded and they began hunting and killing the rank 01 beasts.

After a couple of minutes, they stumbled upon a strange beast. It had the body of a tiger which was striped black and white like a zebra. It had a goat-like face with its horns pointed perfectly upward. They were shiny black and glittered in the night. It growled at them and instantly shot a powerful beam of light from its horns toward them.

Darell and Lilith jumped to the side and dodged its attack. Both of them were shocked as they had not seen this beast.

Darell used his skill to check the beast's stats.

Darell looked at the stats and shuddered as he didn't expect to meet a rank 03 beast so early.

He looked at Lilith and checked her stats.

[Name - Lilith Rogers]

[Level - 05]

[HP - 150/150]

[MP - 75/75]

[Strength - 45]

[Agility - 35]

[Stamina - 35]

[Vitality - 50]

[Defense - 65]

[Intellect - 55]

[Ability - Mist]

After looking at her stats, he knew they could defeat the beast easily if they managed to catch the beast off guard.

"Lilith! Use your skill 'Fog Of Dread' to confuse it and I will go behind it to launch a sneak attack. We don't want to find out what type of skills this beast has." Darell said.

Lilith nodded and used her skill. A thick fog surrounded the beast and it frantically started shooting beams of light from its horns in the opposite direction. Darell took out his sword and jumped at the beast and used his sword to slice off its head. Thick black blood spurted out from the body.

*THUD*

 Its body fell while the beast's head flew off in the opposite direction. Darell's sword was covered with black blood. He was gasping for breath and his heart was pounding intensely. He took several deep breaths to calm himself. 

The fog disappeared and Lilith ran towards him.

"Are you alright?" Lilith worriedly checked her brother for any injuries.

Darell smiled and said, " This beast could have been a nuisance if we didn't kill it quickly."

"What kind of beast was this?" she asked.

"This was a Nihility Lynia. Its ability is Space like me," he answered.

Lilith got confused as she knew this beast was never mentioned in any of the books in the library. She narrowed her eyes and gripped his hand tightly. 

" How do you know what kind of beast this is? We don't have any records of it in the library. What are you hiding brother?"

She glared at him. Darell tried to get out of her grip but she was using all her strength to prevent him from escaping.

He sighed in defeat. He looked around to see if anyone was hiding. He sighed and answered her in a serious tone.

" I have a system. "
