Chapter 6: Training Part 2

"I have a system."

Darell waited for Lilith to shout at him. But, Lilith scoffed at the confession.

"The likes of you cannot fool me. Tell me, how did you know exactly what kind of beast it was?"

She rolled her eyes. Darell widened his eyes at her remark

"I swear I am speaking the truth. I can see the stats of beats and people with my skill that I got from my system." Darell said

Lilith narrowed her eyes and said with a solemn tone " If you are telling the truth, then you should know people will hunt you down to get the system. "

Darell sighed and said " I know, that's one of the reasons why I am training harder than usual. If I am too weak, then some greedy bastards would not hesitate to take my life for the system."

Lilith nodded her head.

" Don't worry, brother. I will also train harder so that I can beat those bastards who may come after your life." She proudly said.

Lilith hugged Darell and they both stayed in that pose for several seconds.

Darell said, "Let's go and continue our training."

"Un"

They killed several rank 01 beasts and obtained several rank 01 beast cores.

In this world, Beast cores can be sold and bought for several thousand gold coins. Usually, only wealthy and influential people can buy these beast cores. These beast cores can be used to operate several lamps if they are obtained from Light ability beasts, Fire ability beast cores can be used in restaurants to act as fuel.

Only a very small section of the population can awaken their innate ability. When these individuals master their abilities, they start practicing rank 02 abilities which are acquired and have never been seen as innate abilities as there is no record of any individual having rank 02 ability as an innate ability.

Darell pierced the saber-toothed Ice tiger in his heart. The rank 02 beast collapsed on the ground.

Darell took out the core from its chest and handed it over to Lilith which she absorbed.

"Why did you not absorb Lynia's core? It had the same ability as you," she asked.

"It is useless for me. As I level up, my mana keeps on increasing," he replied.

"But, why did you take its horn?" she pointed at the horn in his hands and said.

" I used my skill and it said it is a rank 03 object. So, I took it hoping that we could sell it in the Academy for some money."

She nodded her head but suddenly exclaimed " Brother! Why don't you try to absorb the horn? Maybe it will give you some benefits."

Darell hesitated but he looked at her eager expression and sighed.

When he started absorbing it, to his surprise the horn glowed in a brilliant golden light. Darell saw words and symbols flashing in front of his eyes. 

[DING]

[Congratulations]

[You have learned a new rank 03 skill - Nihility]

[Description - This skill allows the user's body to become completely transparent. Attacks can pass through the user's body when using this skill]

"HOLY SHIT!" Darell shouted.

"What happened? " Lilith spoke.

"Lilith use your fastest attack on me," Darell said in an eager tone.

"Why? " she confusedly said.

"I learned a new skill. I want to test it out."

Lilith nodded and used her rank 02 skill 'Ice Chains'. Several ice chains shot from the ground and covered Darell. He used his skill 'Nihility' and his whole body became transparent only leaving a grey outline of his figure.

"What the hell is that?"Lilith shouted.

The ice chains went through his body and came out the other way. Darell deactivated his skill and said" That is the new skill that I learnt from the horn. Its name is Nihility. As you saw, it was a rank 03 spell."

Lilith pouted and said " That's not fair. How come the first skill you learnt is a rank 03 skill whereas I haven't learnt any rank 03 spells."

Darell laughed and said " If you want we can try to find some rank 03 Ice beasts. But, we have to be careful ."

Lilith nodded and they searched for rank 03 beasts. 

After a couple of minutes, they stumbled upon an Ice Serpent's lair.

Darell grinned and said " We have stumbled upon a gold mine. We can kill the Ice serpent and snatch its eggs to sell them."

They sneaked into the lair and found an Ice Serpent sleeping on top of its eggs.

Lilith used her skill ' Fog Of Dread '. The serpent noticed the fog and immediately became hostile. It shot several Ice spikes in several directions. Darell used Nihility to escape from its attacks while Lilith used an Ice shield to block them. 

Darell checked the stats of the beast in front of them.

[DEF - 62]

Darell looked over at Lilith and said " Conjure an Ice sword and throw it to me when I say so ."

He ran towards the beast while using the skill Nihility. He jumped using all his strength and shouted " NOW! " 

Lilith conjured an Ice sword and threw it toward him. He grabbed the sword and stabbed its head. But, it was in vain. The beast covered itself with an Ice shield. Darell didn't waste a second and punched it. The beast got overpowered by the difference in strength and struggled to get up. Lilith used her skill ' Ice chains ' to hold it down. She used another skill to conjure several Ice spikes which pierced its body in all directions. The beast whimpered and tried to get out but it was in vain. After a short while, it drew its last breath and its lifeless body lay on the ground.

Both of them took a short break to calm themselves. Darell took the beast core and place it in his inventory using the skill ' Space Arsenal'. Lilith grabbed the eggs and gave them to Darell who also placed them in the inventory.

When they went out of the lair, Lilith said " I think we should go back. The sun is going to rise in a few hours. If anyone finds out we are not in our rooms, we would be in trouble."

They went out of the forest. They hid in the bushes while waiting for one of the carriages passing by to stop. They hid in one of the carriages and rode towards the guild.

After getting out of the carriage, they went to the guild.

They reached the receptionist's desk and Darell took out the Ice Serpent's beast core. The receptionist took the beast core and took out a few scrolls and gave them to Darell. 

Darell gave the scrolls to Lilith and said "Here are some rank 02 Ice ability spells for you."

Lilith smiled and thanked him.

They went out of the guild and sneaked into the carriage heading to the town of Xena. 

After reaching the town, they snuck back to the mansion. 

Darell went back to his room and immediately disposed of his clothes and took a bath to freshen himself.

He sat on his bed and smiled.

" Looks like it's time to check out the system shop. "
