Chapter 3

THUNK!

As Alex’s club demolished the first man’s head with a hollow sound, he didn’t spare even a second before he continued to the right where the next opponents lay.

Although they didn’t see the gruesome scene of Alex leaving a man without a head, the others heard it and all decided to scatter, although it wouldn’t do much help since Alex considered the forest as his second home.

After catching the second man who made it all of 10 meters, Alex didn’t even spare his face a second look as he gave him the same treatment as the first man.

Continuing further forwards he caught up to his third opponent who died the exact same as his two predecessors. Finishing off the fourth man was even less off a challenge as he had tripped over a tree root in his haste to escape.

Looking for the last member of the group was akin to a game of hide and seek, although it doesn’t work well when a person can’t control their sobs or their bladder.

Out of the shrubs Alex appeared like a devil straight out of hell to the last Bandit who lay in his own piss.

Towering over him the Bandit looked up and saw black eyes staring into his soul with an apathetic looking face which just added to his fear.

Alex’s mind felt scrambled as he looked down on the vermin in front of him, although he had never had this foreign feeling before, every part of him wanted to just finish off the scum in front of him.

“Where… are the others.” Struggling with even just those four words that dripped with malice, the bandit soiled himself yet again and just pointed. Words wouldn’t escape his mouth as he pointed towards where his other group members were ‘resting’.

Feeling like an insect in front of the boy who stood before him, he attempted one last prayer, this made him not even aware the moment he died. Alex swung his club in the air trying to get rid of the blood and remnants of the bandit’s heads that were stuck on it as he walked in the direction he was pointed to, all questions of morals were out of his head right now, all he wanted was an outlet for this foreign feeling inside of him.

After walking casually for about 15 minutes Alex could finally hear the sounds of a campsite a bit in front of him. First came the sounds, at first, he struggled to understand what he was listening to, but his pace quickened as he recognized the sounds of screams.

Lay before Alex was a large wooden wall which connected to a cave covered by a large tarp, although his focus should be on staying hidden and scouting the enemy, his attention was divided between the sights and sounds before him. On large poles lay at least a dozen hanged man dressed in common villager clothes, and in his head rang the screams of women and children from inside the cave covered by the tarp.

Walking through the main gate Alex saw a group of four men sitting around a fire while eating lazily as they chatted. Seeing a large figure approach from the gate the men stood up and shouted a warning.

“Oi brat what do you want?! Wait nah how’d you find this place?!” Alex continued his slow pace whilst analyzing his next opponents. Although knowing whether they could use mana was impossible for the current Alex, the men’s bodies looked fragile and emaciated like they often struggled for nutrition. Knowing that they were just like the previous men, Alex rushed at them resulting in a number of shouts as he was in their faces before they could draw their swords.

With four almost lazy swings the men died while they were still struggling to pull out their weapons.

Looking down at his opponents Alex finally regained a slither of rationality and was questioning the current situation, but before he could regain his rational thoughts, a blue shield surrounded him as the clink of a sword rebounded off it.

“You little SHIT! Those fuckwits were finally making me some good money!” In front of Alex stood a man just slightly shorter than himself. Whilst Alex prepared his guard as to not suffer another sneak attack, he compared his current opponent to his previous ones.

He’s strong… No it’s not his body, but because he uses mana…

As he concluded that his current opponent was at least competent enough to reinforce his own body, the two studied each other. In front of Alex the man held the sword lazily pointed at the ground with a disgusting smirk on his face. He was shirtless with blood on his pants, the man in front of him looked to be 30 years old yet had less hair than most grandparents.

As Alex thought his odds of winning were good, he started on the aggressive running straight at his opponent with a wide swing from the left aiming for the man’s dominant arm, stepping back the man narrowly dodged the swing which held the power to easily shatter his arm.

Now taking the fight more seriously, the man started a series of haphazard swings which attempted to utilize his strength to the fullest, this was possibly his worst decision yet as Alex easily overpowered him due to his trained body in addition to his mana use. Blocking the sword swing coming at his side, Alex threw the man off balance and swing at his knee, resulting in a large cracking sound to reverberate through the area.

Screaming in pain, the mans spit flew everywhere as he flailed his sword to keep Alex away. To take use of the mans crippled movement, Alex quickly ran at him from the side and swung his club like you would a baseball bat, resulting in the head being hit for a home run.

With the fight over, the Club fell from Alex’s grip as he looked at his bloodied hands.
