The guards gave them strange looks as they walked through the southern gate, and entered the wasteland. The two veterans soon understood why as they got further into the wasteland. They were elementalists, and had a number of stealth and speed related skills, so they could feel the flow of elemental energy when a person started to use it.
They had modest amounts for men their age, and weren't able to push their limits like the powerhouses of the kingdom. However, they could sense the flow within others, but because people didn't move large amounts outside their body, no one could detect its movement in the air. There was so much being moved around them, they could feel it in the air.
"You feel that?" One of the assassins asked his friend. Gral, one of the veterans to his side, cleared his throat.
"That is a vast amount of elemental energy. We are going in without knowing if she'll take offense to our presence. If any wish to remain here, stay here." He looked at the other veteran. "On second thought, you guys stay here. One of you, go back to Stormwall and report what you feel. We will continue on ahead." The lowest ranked assassin bowed and dashed back to the town.
"Sir, is it alright that we stay here?" Raes asked. He looked at her carefully.
"You're still young, Raes. Myself and Gral have lived a lot longer, and have more time behind us than ahead. If that one is angry at us," He pointed towards the fluctuations of elemental energy. "there is nothing you can do. We could bring the entire hall, and we would still die. Facing her is like facing a black panther. We would be serving ourselves up to be slaughtered." Kurd said firmly. Gral smacked her shoulder.
"Stay here. If we're not back within two hours, do not come looking for us."

"She saw us." Gral said as they got closer to the plateau.
"Yeah. I felt the gap. We tried to hide our presence, but she still saw us. She is not someone we can fight head on. Or in stealth." They continued onward with their swords sheathed, until the elemental energy stopped being discharged. However, that was when they noticed that the light and flame elements all rushed towards her.
"Why you here?" A childish voice called out. They looked upward and saw the girl they were after on top of the plateau.
"Our hall master sent us out. The Griel clan put a contract on your life." He said, and immediately saw her eyes glow red. It was not the standard pupil glow, but her entire eye radiated the red flame elements.
"You assassins?"
"Yes. Our master sent us, not to kill, but to ask. Did you claim to be Ena?" Gral asked her, though he could tell that even if she did claim it, they had no power to stop her. Her eyes faded, and she jumped down. At first, Gral was a bit concerned, as she was a child, but noticed how she landed and walked towards him. No damage, but there was an imprint left in the topmost thin layer of dirt.
"Ena. God?" She asked. Gral frowned.
"Yes, Ena is the goddess who stopped the volcano a few decades ago near Aros, in the other country. She was asleep for a long time." he said quietly, and reverently.
"Mercs pray Ena. Not kill men pray." Gei pointed to herself. "Gei. Not Ena." She said firmly.
"Liam Griel used Ena's name to get our Hall Master to kill you. They said you claimed you were the goddess." Gral said. Gei rolled her eyes.
"Liam father. Evil man. Rob Lise. Dirt in salt. Try kill Gei. Hate Gei. Gei Liam daughter." She said. Gral looked a bit shocked.
"You're his daughter? But why..." Gral watched as her eyes glowed brightly as flame elements lit her up from within.
"Gei Unloved."

"Gral, Kurd. Considering what he told me, I'm surprised to see that you're still alive." The Hall Master said. "No damage either." He looked them over.
"Liam is her father." Gral said with a slight grimace. "She's one of the Unloved." The Hall Master frowned heavily.
"He sends us after his daughter because she's one of the Unloved?" He asked through grit teeth.
"No, she thinks it's because he doesn't know it's her. If he knew, he would just arrogantly go try to kill her himself." Kurd said and sat down without permission. It was his personality so Skerg didn't call him out on it. "You should see her. Skin and bones, and more bones than skin. She should hate them, but right now, she tolerates them." Skerg thought for a moment.
"Did she claim to be Ena?"
"No. The reason Salig and some of his men were able to return alive is because they prayed. She doesn't kill men who pray for forgiveness before they die. I think she doesn't kill the defenseless." Kurd said, and rolled his eyes. "We knew this contract felt wrong. Now we know why." Skerg nodded.
"She's one of us." All the assassins of Honored Blood Hall were the abused, the abandoned, and the spat upon for being the middle born child. They were all the Unloved.

"Governor, a representative from Honored Blood Hall wishes a word with you." Relk, his steward said. The governor nodded, and made a gesture.
"Steward Reyl. I'm surprised to see you out of the hall." The governor said quietly. "This must be important." She smirked.
"Liam Griel gave us a contract to kill the one on the wasteland." She said and watched as the governor rose to his feet immediately.
"How many died?" He asked.
"None. Our people are smarter than the Mercenary Union." She smirked again. "We wanted to let you know about how he falsified his request." The governor shook his head in disgust.
"Vesh is on her way." He said with no expression, but Reyl grinned.
"This should be an interesting time. You might want to hire some men, and get a larger garrison. This person allows people to live, but has no trouble killing to protect herself." Reyl said. "Once Vesh is here, the Hall Master will confer with her as to a proper response." The governor nodded.
"This information is appreciated." Governor Haug said, but still looked a bit cautious. "The Griel clan has acted rampant ever since Liam married the daughter of Duke Brund. That person has affected their business, so the duke may react eventually." Reyl lifted an eyebrow.
"Liam filed the request with the reason being that she claimed she was Ena. That was a lie. Even if the duke comes with an army, they will all die, and it won't be at our hands." Reyl sighed. "This may weaken the kingdom significantly. I've never seen so many act so foolishly over a few pieces of silver." Reyl left, and let Governor Haug think quietly.
"Just over silver? Could Duke Brund really respond just over the loss of a few silver?" He thought for several minutes, and sat back down. "Liam will most likely lie to his father in law, and get his support. The duke has recently looked to expand his territory, as he annexed a few other towns close to his borders."
"Civil war. That girl is going to be used as an excuse to create internal strife, and get away with further expansions." The governor shook his head.
She was only a child, and had already suffered so much in her young life. How would she respond if all these things actually occurred?
He could only guess, but with her reactions thus far, many more men would die.
