"I would like to exchange pointers with Senior Brother Feng."
"Oh, then this Senior Brother would happily guide his Junior Brother along the right path."
Oh, that wasn't a typo, and no, the genre didn't just suddenly change to cultivation.
But man, this damn inheritance was a lot more than I had expected.
In the novel, the "protagonist" of this arc had just woken up a few days later after having been hit by the artifact, but it seemed like, because I was a true descendent of the Endendyks or because I had actually awakened already, I had been met with something completely different.
I phoenix, I had met a literal phoenix.
At least it explained why the artifact had been a fire type artifact, but, what was impressive was the fact that the artifact was only the key to the inheritance grounds!
If the artifact was already that powerful, then what could I possibly gain from the actual final reward?
Thinking about it made my mouth water, but I held my composure, as I met the sword of my "Senior Brother".
"Clang!"
With a harsh wind accompanying his swing, I was pushed back, but it had been my purpose to do so in the first place.
"Goodbye."
And then, my Senior Brother's head fell to the floor.
'What is up with this trial? Isn't it way too easy?'
As I was thinking about what this could possibly be testing me about, the scene in front of me wavered before completely changing.
This time, I was in a forest, and I could see a cart coming into my vision.
Watching as the armed guards leisurely rode their horses, I could only wonder what was going to happen next.
"Why is the merchandise so quiet today?"
"I don't know, but that's better for us anyways, so I won't complain."
"You sure that there are no damages? If there are, the boss will be mad."
"Nah, I checked them yesterday night. It's too bad the special one can't be touched though. I would have enjoyed my time with it."
"Bastard! You used one of the products without permission?"
As they continued to bicker, I continued to grow more and more confused.
Hearing this conversation from behind a tree, I couldn't help but wonder why everything felt so familiar.
'Ahh... could that be what's going on here?'
Extending my hand out towards an opening, I waited for the slow moving carriage to pass into my line of fire.
'There.'
And then, the carriage was no more, as nothing of it remained in this quiet jungle.
"Zzzzzzzzzzzzrrrrrrrriiip!"
Blinking, I opened my eyes again only to see that I was back behind the tree, as the same conversation that had happened earlier filtered through my ears again.
'Do I really have to do that?'
Deciding it was the only possible path to take, I took it.
"Bye bye."
"Huh? Who's there?!"
But, the guards raised their weapons too late, and a second later, both of their heads had already touched the ground, the bodies falling to the same fate soon after.
'Let's just get this over with.'
Walking to the back of the carriage I unlocked it before running away as quickly as possible.

I did not want to be involved in this anymore.
And then, the scene wavered.
This time, finding myself in front of a medieval looking gate with a banner strung across it saying "Entrance Exam" on it, I couldn't help but groan.
'Why did they have to save the worst one for last?'
Hating my life for a second, I took a deep breath and decided to just get it over with.
(A/N: Me personally, I'm not going to describe it because it's so cringe that I just can't write about it, so y'all guess what happened from the pattern I've given you guys.)
'Whoo, I finished that.'
Looking over the crowd of people, and the well-dressed kid bleeding out on the floor, I just waited until the scene started wavering again.
'I hope that was the last one.'
Closing my eyes, I waited, hoping, praying.
Aaaaannnnnnndddddd nope, my prayers weren't answered, as I found myself in yet another scene.
In front of my was a foreboding castle, and beside me were my supposed party members, all of them having the same exact look on their face, determined and ready to lay down their lives.
'...at the very least, this one will be a little bit more fun.'
Sliding the giant greatsword that I had on my back out of its sheathe, I walked towards the castle and swung my sword at it, hard.
Long story short, I managed to split the castle perfectly in half.
And then, I killed the king of the castle, not before slicing through his upper echelon of trusted abominations of course.
...
Five Years Later:
'Please say I'm finally done. Please say I'm finally done!'
I had been in this space for five years now, going through more than 50,000 different scenarios, all of which had been about things that I hated the most.
I know, my story had some of those things too, but acting out the part whilst not actually needing to do it was horrible for my mental state, as I now couldn't register any sort of cringe at all in my mind.
I hated this, but, I guess that this was also good for my mental growth.
BUT I HAD ACHIEVED THIS STATE FUCKING TWO YEARS AGO!
There was no need for me to continue being stuck in this simulation, but the inheritance wouldn't release me.
So, I just spent more and more time in each simulation, wasting the days away.
Until now, finally, I was free, as the seen around me turned all black, before lava and flames started erupting everywhere in my vision, as burning flames filled my eyes.
"Finally, a worthy adversary has arrived!"
Hearing this deep voice, I could only tremble.
Not because I was scared or anything, I just hoped that nothing like the past 5 years would ever happen again in my life.
It was too much, at some points, I even wanted to kill myself.
'Please, don't make me do this anymore.'
"You have passed the first trial." Said the deep voice, as it resonated throughout the entire cavern(?) that I was in.
"..."
I could only bask in the happiness after hearing those words.
"Thank the fucking gods."
(A/N: If you couldn't figure out the pattern, the answer is that they were all cliche events that happen in novels.)
