“Ye…yes, someone did come.”

Ye Linchuan raised his eyebrow, silently waiting for him to continue.

Ye Qinghe couldn’t help his nervousness; his hands fidgeting with his sleeves as he looked down at his feet, “The doctor was here.”

“Besides the doctor and the teacher.”

Ye Linchuan’s voice above sounds a bit gloomy.

At this point, Ye Qinghe was so nervous that he forgot to breathe for a second. He thought of Ye Ya’s innocent little face, and brought up the courage to take the bite in his mouth and lie to his father for the first time in his life,“No; nobody else came.”

Sitting on his chair, Ye Linchuan didn’t say more. His elegantly long eyes reflected his profoundness. He turned his chair and slowly started speaking, “I’ll ask in a different way: was there a child in our house?”

A child…

Ye Ya…

Ye Qinghe trembled, his heart beating like crazy.

“It wasn’t this child who did Ziyu’s homework, right?”

Ye Qinghe was bewildered, and looked at his father in shock.

It’s hard to tell Ye Linchuan’s emotions from his face, “I know yours and Ziyu’s handwriting.” He seemingly smiled, “man’s nature at birth is evil? Understanding the Doctrine of Evil Nature at such a young age. Tell me, who on earth did you bring home?”

His expression was still observant at everything; his sharp gaze forced Ye Qinghe nowhere to hide.

Ye Linchuan knew what kind of people his two children were.

Ye Ziyu was diagnosed with mania as a child ever since his mother left. As he grew, his illness became more serious. He didn’t like socializing and couldn’t control his emotions; he would yell and cry even if he was just a little upset. Because of this, not only did he not have friends, but his family could be sick of him sometimes as well. After a while, Ye Chuanlin had no other option but to make him stay home and hire teachers to come once every week. If he had time, he would tutor his son by himself, so there was no way that Ye Ziyu would bring someone his age home. Judging from this, Ye Chuanlin suspected that it was most likely his oldest son.

“Father, what are you doing?” Ye Qinghe was confused, why was he talking about Xun Zi?

“I’m trying to figure out who did Ziyu’s homework.”

Homework?

Ye Qinghe was even more confused.

Did his father really think that Yaya did the homework?

Just then he remembered Yaya’s mathematics skills, and gave up that thought at once. His gaze at his father was more and more confused.

Ye Linchuan squinted his eyes, “You really don’t know?”

Ye Qinghe immediately shook his head.

He didn’t know how to lie, and his eyes couldn’t deceive anyone.

Ye Linchuan’s lips began to move, but just as he was about to speak, the phone suddenly rang. Ye Linchuan glared at Ye Qinghe one last time, waved at him to leave, and turned away to get the phone.

Ye Qinghe felt a sense of relief, and left the study as quickly as possible.

“I’ll be there in a moment. You and assistant Xu need to prepare the meeting information.” Ye Linchuan didn’t leave in a hurry after he hung up. He quietly lay on his leather chair, tapping on the table with his long elegant fingers. After a while, he opened the computer and got out the surveillance video. It’s quite obvious— someone messed with the camera.

“Little brat,” Ye Linchuan smirked, grabbed his suit, and left the study.

“Father, are you leaving?”

Ye Ziyu gazed at him with his big, hopeful eyes on the bottom floor.

“Are you going to bring me with you?” Father promised him that as long as he finished his homework, Father would take him out to play, even though Ye Ya finished the work, but Father didn’t know that.  Everyday Ye Ziyu looked forward to spending time with Ye Linchuan, but every time his wishes did not come true. He hoped that this time Ye Linchuan could keep his promise.

“I’m sorry,” Ye Linchuan stopped in front of Ye Ziyu, his hands placed heavily on Ziyu’s head. “I have a meeting to attend, so I can’t spend time with you.”

“But…”

“Master Ye, the shareholders have arrived.” The assistant standing behind him said, “We need to go.”

He raised his head a bit, let go of Ye Ziyu, and walked out the door without hesitation.

The front door now deserted, the engine sound of the car fading away. Ye Ziyu stood under the crystal chandelier, suddenly feeling like this house had become a giant, impenetrable prison cell, suffocating him.

Ye Ziyu stared intensely at the place his father had left; his tears silently falling. He himself didn’t move a bit, just standing there like a piece of rock.

“Ziyu…”

Ye Ziyu broke away from his nanny’s hand and sprinted to his room. He locked the door, gritted his teeth, and angrily charged at the wall.

Bam!

The sound of collision echoed across the room.

Ye Ziyu didn’t feel pain; the first hit, the second, the third…

His body didn’t feel like his own, nor did his head. He couldn’t feel the pain, so he just continued to insanely torture his body.

“Ziyu, open the door for your brother.”

“Ziyu!!”

“Father will be back soon.”

“How about I bring you out to play for now?”

Ye Ziyu completely ignored Ye Qinghe’s desperate shouting and continued to charge head first onto the wall.

“Nanny go get the doctor, I’ll go find the key!”

There’s chaos outside the room, and even more so inside.

Suddenly, the secret door behind Ye Ziyu opened a little crack.

Ye Ya leaned over the door, and observed him carefully with her big watery eyes.

She blinked and softly walked out toward him.

Ye Ziyu didn’t notice her. He was still banging his head on the door; he didn’t even care that he was already bleeding.

Ye Ya tilted her head, looked at him, and finally walked toward him. She raised her arms and put her little hands on the wall. Ye Ziyu’s swelling forehead charged into her soft palms.

Ye Ziyu didn’t notice at first. But after four or five hits, he at last slowly turned his head towards her.

The boy’s forehead was scraped and bleeding, this in addition to his voided gaze made him look like a hopelessly lost wolf pup.

Ye Ya’s glowing pure black eyes somehow calmed him down a slightly.
