Marianne's P.O.V. (after she ran to go get sweets for Astelle, ending of Chapter XXVI)

I heard my lady yell after behind me to not bring all the sweets we have. I giggle, my lady is far too loveable. I don’t understand why her, and her friends are having these conflicts. As I ran through the halls, I encounter Sir Asterion, I skid to a stop, bow and start to walk.

Before I could go too far, he calls out after me. “Marianne,” he says in his charming voice. I turn around and reply, “Yes, sir Asterion, is there something you require?” I have learned to talk neatly like this after 5 years of working here.

“No, well, yes I do, I wanted to know how the… situation with Astelle is?” He asks. Ah, I see, he’s worried, I giggle to myself, these siblings are far too alike. “My lady feels much better, I actually am on my way to bring her some sweets.” He nods with a slight smile. They really are alike, they’re so gorgeous. I feel a halo form behind him.

“Thank you, and I am grateful my sister had you by her side, I’ll let you go now,” He chuckles. “Oh, of course Sir Asterion, it is my job after all,” I bow to him and turn around, continuing my journey to get my lady her sweets! I head out of the main building and made my way to the main kitchen a few mins away.

I walk for 2 mins or so before getting interrupted again. “Ah! Marianna, was it?” says a female voice from the side. How rude, the least she could do is remember my name properly, I really don’t like her.

“Haha, very close, my lady! My name is Marianne, is something the matter?” I ask out of formality. “Oh, my apologies, Marianne, yes actually I do need something,” Fabienne smiled. Well. Get on with it.

“What shall it be, my lady?” I say, reciprocating her smile. “Could you lead me to the female guest quarters? I’ll be staying for the night,” the wind made her light pink hair flow behind her as I felt a chill from the smile. Why do I have an odd feeling from her? I wish Caleb was here so he could know what she really felt.

I smiled, my lady said to always treat guests right, even if she despised them. For the sake of my lady, I led her to the quarters. I bow to her as I left.

We exchanged no conversation after I asked her to follow me. It felt off. Way too off to be normal. She had kept that same smile for the whole time we walked. Was that normal? Maybe I am just overreacting. After all, my lady barely smiles, maybe that’s why it felt off.

I haven’t seen someone smile for a long amount of time like that. I laugh to myself, yes, I have been too much of worrier these days. My lady awaits! I will need to tell her what happened, if she already doesn’t know. I headed towards the sweets I had gotten earlier today and set up plates, a special calming tea and placed everything on the tea cart and headed back to my lady’s tearoom.

“I assume she’s waiting in the tearoom,” Caleb replied. Then… why am I here? “Why did you lead me here then?” I asked him, confused. He has an embarrassed look on his face, “I will admit, I was going to…” he says before sighing. “No excuse, hm?” I ask smirking at her growing red face. “It is my lady’s fault for worrying me,” he blames me. I smile lightly, “Oh, I do apologise for walking out on you back then, I just…” I couldn’t add more. I didn’t know what to say actually.

I looked up to see his expression and caught him staring at me. He looked solemn, not saying anything we exchanged words with just eye contact. ‘I know.’ I cleared my throat and broke the exchange, “Shall we head off then?” I ask, getting up and waiting for him. He nods, stands up then makes his way to the door. I follow, he holds the door for me and lets me lead.

We make our way to the tearoom, well it’s far too late for tea. We can just call this a late-night snack. Unless, knowing Marianne, she got me her special tea that is just a miracle for insomniacs.

Was I an insomniac? I pause. That… why do I feel I’m forgetting something important? Was my memory always this weak? That-!

THE NOTEBOOK PAGE! Why? How did I forget about it? What was written on it? Where’s the notebook? I need to search for it immediately.

“Caleb, I must go back to the room. You go on ahead.” I walk away right away. He follows, “I will not leave you alone, I will wait outside your room, if I must.” I sigh and nod. I’m practically running. Questions jumping round my head. How? How could I forget such an important item? Why is my memory being so… odd…

What was I thinking of? Where am I going? I stop walking. “My lady? Why have you stopped?” I hear Caleb ask. Suddenly, I remember again. I start shaking. What was that? Why did I immediately forget again?

“M-my lady?! You’re shaking!” my ears are ringing. I hear muffled talk. I lift my hand to see my fingers trembling. Why was I… the notebook. Why does that notebook affect me so? I’m the one that wrote it!

What’s happening? “Caleb.” I hear my voice speak. I can’t control myself…? “Let’s head to Marianne, I can deal what I wanted from my room later.” What? No! Why did I say that? What’s happening to me? I’m scared. I felt my body move; I turned around without my own permission. I could see Caleb hesitantly nod and started following after me.

No. Please, let me move, I don’t know what to do.
