‘Well this changes everything.’ Abraham thought while looking at the broken bow in his hands. His expression turned stiff as he got lost in thought. ‘This is definitely no regular bow… it’s completely illogical—no, everything about this world is illogical’
He heaved a deep sigh as he began walking back to the wooden shed. He took a glance at the destroyed part of the beach not too far away from him. ‘Thank god I maintained enough distance… How far away is that—around fifty metres?’
Abraham’s expression turned into that of pure horror as he imagined him being the victim of the tentacle’s attacks. He lowered his head and steadily entered the shed. ‘That feeling… It’s not there… Could it be?’
He had a sudden surge of euphoria. He felt he had been released from bounds that had been tying him down since years—ever since he was born, in fact.
But unfortunately for him, that was not the case. ‘No…I shouldn’t hurry on deciding that. That insane feeling of constantly being watched arrives right before an important event happens in my life—which in my previous world have always been terrible. Perhaps this event was just not that important. It’s… It’s too early for me to celebrate.’
Abraham’s expression darkened. He suddenly felt as if his heart had been struck with a spear. He felt as if he wanted to cry but no tears would fall from his face. He had long gotten used to this feeling.
Throughout his whole life, he, not even once, had been able to protect anything he liked. As soon as he would find happiness, It would immediately be taken from him.
Always accompanied by a feeling of being watched. As if… someone was watching him as everything went wrong in his life. This feeling served as an omen for him. An omen suggesting something extremely terrible is about to occur.
‘Am I fated for misfortune?’ Abraham hit the wall of the shed with all the strength he had. Surprisingly, the wall itself did not have a single dent on it. But the same couldn’t be said for his hand, which was bleeding quite miserably. But this did not affect him one bit. In fact, he simply ignored it. No matter how much it hurt.
‘Goddamnit… My godforsaken misfortune is going to be even more costly in this world… It’s a matter of life and death! Especially if I keep encountering these types of creatures in the future!’
Abraham went over to the pile of armour that he had neatly arranged in a corner of the shed. He glanced all over them before turning back in disappointment. ‘As much as I want to try these… I’m too weak. Currently, they will act as nothing but a burden. I’d much rather keep my mobility for now…’
Abraham went over to the weapon stockpile and took out a bow from it. The bow was made from the same dark metallic material as the other bow. However, this one had some strange crimson Beads embedded throughout the bow instead of the spikes. ‘What should I do next?’
Abraham walked out of the shed after having replaced his bow. Each step he walked felt a lot harder to make from the weight of the weapons he was carrying. But that wasn’t the only thing affecting him. The shot he had fired from the bow previously had consumed most of his energy and now he had begun feeling extremely hungry.
‘Shit. I feel hungry but can I even eat any of this?’ Abraham began looking around to spot anything that looked at least a little edible. But everything around him was far from that. ‘The only things I can see are crimson fruits that look like they will 100% kill me if I eat them and rotted, black, lifeless greenery and trees. Truly a feast!’
Abraham’s face turned into a frown. He felt extremely annoyed but decided to simply swallow his annoyance. He took one last glance towards the tentacle before drawing his sword from his hilt. He slowly walked over a tree in the edge of the place where the deep forest began and hit it with all his strength.
‘Holy… so sharp!’ Amused, he looked towards the tree which was now cut in half falling on the ground, creating a loud thump. As soon as he heard that, he immediately ran away in the opposite direction.
He ran with every ounce of strength he had left. His legs began hurting but he couldn’t care less. He did not stop until he had made at least 30 metre distance between him and the tree.
‘As expected! The tentacles have limitations to their hearing!’ He thought while glancing towards the tentacles in the sea. Who did not move from their position one bit. A smile formed on his face and this time, the smile was genuine. He watched the tentacles as they continue growing in number and slowly surrounding more of the ‘island’
‘Crap… I hope this is a seashore of a continent and not an Island… If it is an island then I don’t want to imagine what would happen once that thing surrounds it completely.’

A chill ran over Abraham’s spine. He decided the best course of action would be to ignore it for now and head deeper in the forest. After all, it’s not like he can stop that tentacled monstrosity anyway.
He sheathed back his sword, which did not have even a scratch on it, back into his scabbard and began venturing through the forest.
****
‘Damn this place is dense!’ Abraham cursed inwardly. The deeper he got into the forest, the more dense it would end up becoming. The black bushes and leaves that grew were sharp to the point where even a slight touch would leave a scratch on him. The forest was extremely dark as well with the only source of light being the little rays that sometimes peeked through the dense leaves of the large trees.
The trees themselves kept growing in size the further he went in. Now, they looked to be as tall as a three story building. Their leaves were so dense to the point where most of the sky was covered with them. Except for a few areas that let in the sinister crimson rays of light. It all looked extremely ominous and unsettling.
But this did not stop Abraham as he was determined to get out of this place. ‘Now that I think about it… the trees did not look this big from the outside.’
His entire body was filled with scratches. He held his sword in his hands and cut through the vegetation in his way. ‘This sword sure is sharp. Just a slight swing and even a big tree is cut into half. And, best of all, it doesn't break like the bow earlier!’
Abraham kept moving forward.
Some time had passed. He had gotten even more hungry than before. But it was still manageable. It was not his main point of concern.
He had begun feeling a mind boggling feeling of Impending doom. He felt as if, if he went any deeper in, he would die. But at the same time, he felt a strange need to continue forward.
As if… something was calling him from beyond this darkness.
